Best of Super Eurobeat 2011 cancelled.
Best of Super Eurobeat 2011 cancelled.
Received this news from a friend, and upon further check, yeah it is. Not sure if anyone really cares about the release anyways but I'll just put it out there.

Well, it seems like a logical move. This is probably the right time for Avex to cut back on some of their pointless and redundant non-stop releases considering the sheer number of non-stops that have been integrated into the main SEB series this decade. Didn't Avex stop with Super GT as well?
I doubt it would have sold well anyway; the only people who seem to buy them are diehard collectors. Too much of one thing is never good and I'm glad Avex have finally realised that.

At least they usually sold as much copies as regular releases according to Oricon weekly charts.
Avex is having tough times in Japanese music industry recently. Avex artists' sales are gradually declining. They were overtaken by Sony Music in 2010 annual total sales. Making SEB albums does not make any big profit for them, so in this situation they probably want to reduce SEB releases...

I don't really see the need for a Best of SEB 2011 considering you will already have had 3 nonstop releases using all of the new tracks from this decade (with 213, 216 and 219), so really it's pointless to release yet another nonstop mix with only a select few of those new tracks - smart move I'd say. If all of the albums had been extended releases, then a nonstop mix at the end of the year would've sold well, but with the current structure it would just be throwing money down the drain.
Well done avex for a sensible decision.

Ugh, I hear ya Phil. From a collector's standpoint it's very irritating.
They honestly shouldn't have done the 3 nonstops in one decade crap just recapping the prior two albums. It was very redundant and if they wanted to do nonstops so badly they could have had a couple of new tracks with themes. I for one would have minded 'SEB 213 presents Best of SEB 110s Revival Hits!' or something stupid like that instead of having the same songs I just got over from the last two months.

AMEN! I end up usually buying the year's Best Of album every year...(done it since 2005). I really like the mixing on those albums. Is this a very issue of the label's not producing much these days? Makes me wonder why they even had those three megamixes starting this years after such a long period of not doing it frequently (I believe the 140s was around the last time we saw this happen on a regular basis...then we had 165, 197-199). I hope this is not indicative of future issues with SEB.Densetsu13 wrote:Ugh, I hear ya Phil. From a collector's standpoint it's very irritating.
