That grinding sound in non-stop mixes...

Post by Bonkers » 06 Mar 2012, 01:03

How did the loud grinding sound you hear in non-stop Eurobeat mixes come about? The only other genre I have heard it in is Psytrance. I love it, and wish there was more of it!

It's just a cut of the audio being played repeatedly at machine-gun speed. It's been called things like "stutter effect" "Glitch" "retrigger"

I don't know what psychtranse is ,but I know exactcly what effect you mean. Its that sound you hear when the percussion or drum roll effects are speeded up. You get a program like audacity, pinpoint a certain bar or series of notes and repeat them a few x. You'll get that sound you want. the "Machine Gun" effect. You can someTIMEs hear that effect on certain HRG Attack songs too.

Psy Trance, a wide genre within the trance family. Here's an example

you should be able to identify elements and influences reminescent of hi-nrg in there, notably the bass, use of guitars, overall energy and dance factor.
