Well the whole thing with A-Beat C is that Dave just lost a GREAT deal of his creative team. I would venture to say this is bigger than when Gino Caria and Bratt Sinclaire left his team. Think of it, Alessio Milani (Nick Key) has left, obviously Sandro who was Dave's right hand man for all intents and purposes. All he's really left with is his few female singers, access to rock guitar artists but no real stars that have been able to crank a real hit. I believe with a new addition to the creative team, Dave would be able to get back up but it honestly feels like it's just Dave and Annerley at Rodgers Studios.

Don;t forget Nuage left last year as well. Granted her last real hit was back on 171.

As much as I am a huge fan of A-Beat-C, I have to say this is pretty true, But thats not to say that they are in a very bad state, Maybe ... Just not as good as when his whole team was around. Take for example, the 12x decade, which I personally consider as A-Beat-C's prime time, When the whole team were actively working on songs. I mean ... To me, They really put out a whole bullseye that year, with the debut of Nuage and the whole pile of great songs from Dave himself, Matt Land, Mega NRG Man, Karen, Lolita, TSFM, Powerful T and Domino etc.

What I am probably not pleased with is about the same as DJ Mike, Sure GGM makes good music just as the current A-Beat-C does but they don't match the calibre of the better songs under a single label with all the talents coming together. A-Beat-C lacking the Domino/Sandro touch and GGM lacking the Rodgers Touch.

That said, I like Looka Bomba by GGG as well, Just not as good as how Go 2 remade Hot Vampire, but hey, at least both are better than the originals!

LARGE POST ALERT~

I'm currently listening to Space Boy (Grand Mix).

...I can understand what's going on, actually. At first I hated it. It sounded so unusual, so... disgusting, actually. Very unexpected from a Eurobeat great. It sounded too hollow, too grandiose. The jump from pianos to Eurobeat struck me as a HUGE "WTF" moment, followed with what could only be explained as a confusing song that had lots of elements from the original, and yet remained so wildly different.

Then it hit me. Dave's being unusually expressive.

Instead of going for the usual "Dance Music" production style in Eurobeat, or the "rock 'n roll" approach (though that's present too), he's expressing a clash of tensions. The soothing, cool piano against such an energetic and 'warm' soundworld as Space Boy begs, creates a very powerful clash, for my money. It's something as of yet undone at the scope he does it in (as much as I know), and... I like it. No, I truly enjoy it.

Now, the piano does sometimes go a bit off-key in regard to the rest of "traditional Space Boy", and even has a few sour notes. That does grate at me a bit, granted. The "sustained chord" that tends to round out a soundworld is removed as well, making it sound a bit too "round" and bassy for my usual tastes.

I do like how the new choice for the synth riff, while different (and oh HOW I loved the original sound!), does the original justice enough. As well, the guitars remained masterful, even in their unique approach.

As a "mainstream" Eurobeat track, it'd fail on my standards. But regarding it as a far more artistic endeavor, I can see something Grand about it. And I may come across as a pretty heavy-duty fanboy for saying this, but screw it, I can defend my position on it. I think Space Boy (Grand Mix) is something beautiful to behold, partially for its unexpectedness, partially for artistic venture.

It's songs and ventures like this that make me a proud fan of Dave Rodgers as a Eurobeat Musician and as a Musician in general.

SPACE BOY (Grand Mix) EUROBEAT Score: C (Roughly 75%)
SPACE BOY (Grand Mix) NON-EUROBEAT Score: A (Roughly 96%)

--------------

NUMBER ONE: Very much so a "2009" mix. More raw, more aggressive, and a bit more awesome.
LOVE the synth riff sound. Fastway sounds like he's really having fun, too. Christine sounds unpitched, which I really like too.
Doesn't top the original, but isn't any less than it either.

NUMBER ONE: A+ (100%)

--------------

HOT VAMPIRE: Go2 seamlessly converts the ABeatC/GGM tune into their own. Energetic, fun, and just plain awesome for them. (Good save with "She's coming", too.) Another success for Go2! Not perfect, but certainly great! Why does the guitar solo sound as if ABeatC's guitarist himself made his way into Ritmo & Blu studio?

HOT VAMPIRE: A (90%)

--------------

TOO YOUNG TO FALL IN LOVE: Because I'm going off to sleep, I'll just say this much.

...I'm impressed, but not overly so. Sinclaire proves he's still got the fight in him, but he'll have to do better than this to be truly memorable. For my money he improves on the original (Blasphemy, I know; no disrespect to Gino), but he still sounds very SEB 160's. THANKFULLY his synth riff has changed in this one.
My problem with SinclaireStyle productions is that they're either just sufficient or just insufficient; only one of his songs has truly snapped my attention front-and-center (Flame and Fire), and only one has caused me disgust (Power of Loving You). I hope he can get around Avex's demands sufficiently to churn out a supersmash.

TOO YOUNG TO FALL IN LOVE: B (85%)
A lot's changed in the decade and a half I've been here.

I don't like Go Go's Music.

Seriously, I really don't like them. Not so much for their music, but for what they represent...

It was all nice and fun when they first came along, and there were some perky and very good songs. And it's not to say they never make a good song, because they occasionally do. But they're faltering, and badly, and all I'm left to think is what I was worried about in the first place:

Splitting A-Beat C up has taken one fantastic label and turned it into two mediocre labels.
Hate to admit it , but he hit the nail in the head. Not only that, but ever since GGMs started using those "lighter" sounding synths, Dave decided to as well. I don't know if it's from peer pressure or a direct AVEX influence, but he should go back to the traditional Eurobeat synths used by Eurogrooves, Dima, DELTA and HRG Attack and the majority of SCP song as well. To me that is mainly where ABEATC's problem lies. As is evident on the latest Mega NRG Man flops like People Like Dancing. He should also get on the phone and call back Kelly T, Mel Rose, Nik Key. I mean really ,what's next a Dave Rodgers and Annerly Gordon duet?

I can name my top 5 songs from GGM, but that's because that's all I like from them. At the same TIME, I can easily name 10 good ABaetC songs from the time when GGMs first made thier debut.

1. Mega NRG Man- Red Light & Sex(incredible how noone mentioned this one in thier favs.)
2. Manuel- Adrenaline
3. Leo River- Run Away
4. Manuel- Gas Gas Gas
5. Giorgia V.- Race Queen

Don't forget Mr. Contini, who was also with Dave from the start. When he left ABeatC had that big slump. Then F. Contini jumps from ABeatC to GoGos doesn't he? I mean you see F. Contini on an Ester song, but then again on a Mega NRG Man song. Wouldn't that be concidered by Dave as conflict of interest?I also think Fabrizzio Rizzolo should lend Dave a hand in writing. He is too talented to be sidetracked as the once in a while cameo appearance on vocals.

This is one thought that's been revolving in my head for while, but since some emebers have mentioned ABeatC hanging it up, I wonder if it would not be such a bad idea and form an aliance with Sinclaire again. Bratt certainly needs some help and both him and Dave wrote some kick ass tunes together. maybe even get Dejouro that hit he deserves before he retires again.I don't know about thier differences, but shit, isn't it worth it for the sake of Eurobeat fans?

I don't think Bratt would be happy with Dave using him as a way to make treasure again.

However, the thought is interesting. The hatred between those two is bound to let competition rise to levels we've not seen before

I had a lot I could've put here, but I'll put this instead:

FUCK that very idea. Dave Rodgers is STILL creating, and he's still doing a good job despite being massively understaffed (the only other label I've heard from with the same amount of 'staying' vocalists is SinclaireStyle, and have THEY been doing top-square?). Granted, he could call more vocalists in, but... even through Avex's requests and any adversity we're unaware of, Dave still stands sufficiently strong for me.

If I'm not mistaken, Dave is credited for saying something to the extent of "I'll create until the day I die". I'll hold him to it, and any Eurobeat fan worth their salt would do the same.

I'm really starting to hate A-Beat C's style of Eurobeat.
It's always the same with this label, same sound.. same artists.

This is why I add A-Beat C to my list of label I don't like.
- SAIFAM / Asia
- Hi-NRG Attack
- A-Beat C

They've produced some great tracks in the past, but they're getting worse.
Current songs sound aweful, and a Grand Mix.. huh wtf? I don't hear differences, only some weird piano sounds. I think Dave produces Eurobeat for the money, and I don't like he sticks that much together with Norma Sheffield. Because I'm getting sick of this Aishu Eurobeat style.
Eurobeat should get more aggressive, like it was a long time ago.

Fame, Original Sin... any many many more songs.

I want the old A-Beat C back, only that can make me happy again about this label.

I'll play devil's advocate with Gatti and Gobbi singing "Looka Bomba". While I enjoyed the song, I can't rank it even near the other GGM productions. Looka Bomba was made as an agressive male song--like others said, "if they did Funky Funlover, it would be good". I agree.

Of course, you can't win every time. I would have been happy to hear a GGM redition of songs from the SCP catalogue like, "Viva La Noche" or "Number One" with Mega NRG Man doing the male vocals.

Yeah i have to agree with zoupzuop2 , ABeatC is a grand label !
Everyone in Japan LOVED and still LOVES that label , and Space Boy -Grand Mix- is getting really well received there too...

So would you imagine ABeatC with new talents/vocalists ? It would only get its own fame back , without the Domino and Lolita names (not that i dont like them...)

So before going and judging ABeatC in this split time , wait till Bea , Futura and Neo comes back ! 8)
