New to eurobeat, badly wanting to compose! :'(

Post by kurisuto » 15 Apr 2011, 00:16

Hi all! So, I discovered eurobeat one year and a half ago or so, through samfree's "Luka Luka Night Fever" -- absolutely loved it. But I actually learned it was eurobeat, and started to listen to eurobeat very recently. I'm a composer, mostly rock and traditional heavy metal stuff (I'm a guitarist btw), but recently I've started to make some more synth-based songs, and now I badly want to make eurobeat... and really could use some help!

I have some musical ideas, but first, I've still a long way to go before composing a decent eurobeat song in terms of structure etc., I'm a very bad producer/mixing engineer, and I just can't seem to find the sounds I need. I think these 3 points can be easily summed up with these two bits of songs I've composed. And yes, they're just about 5 and 10 seconds long, looped endlessly.

I wasn't lying; they're really only a few seconds long and looped endlessly.

I'd love to hear your suggestions: I particularly need some good brass synths. I was talking about Luka Luka earlier; that's really the kind of synth leads I'd like to get, very percussive and energetic. I'm more specifically looking for software. If you don't know this song, here's a popular cover (i.e sung by a "real" singer as opposed to Vocaloid) by Nana Mitani:

Also, "eurobeat drums". Really, I'm new to this whole thing, and I don't know what type of drum samples I should use.

And lastly, tips on mixing, SFX, etc.? Maybe you know good sites for that?

You could try to create something using the Synthetic Brass bank in ReFX Nexus. For the drums I can help you out, and ehm many Eurobeat producers used to use Roland JD800 synths for their tracks, try to find them yourself ;)

Eurobeat-Prime user ''NitroFlash'' might be able to help you out with creating Eurobeat tracks yourself, and you can buy a sample pack from L. Newfield on this forum. He used to be a Eurobeat producer and if you're nice to him he might can give you a few how-to-start tips ;)

Good luck

Thanks! I've heard lots of good things about Nexus, I'm seriously considering buying it. And thanks for the other tips!
