Not defending Christina because I thought her new song was shit, but isn't her looking like Gaga/Madonna/Whoever suppose to be the whole point of the video? I mean, the song is called NOT MYSELF TONIGHT....

I think the bottomline is this : You hate most modern pop music with a passion and probably just about everything that gets heavy airplay on MTV or radios = Sounds the same and thus, Fail. Well, You have your own right to be biased of course ...drnrg wrote:You mean this chart?

I thought things might be different in the U.K., but It's just as bad. .You got all the horrible team ups. The Deluros, The Rihanna's and some new ones to top it off...and of course, Ke$ha too. A bunch of World cup inspired songs(Shakira sells out) and Glee Club covers of Gaga. I really couldn't stomach half the music on that chart. Some songs were too out there even for me. WTF is Vindaloo? I think I even saw Journey's classic Don't Stop Believing? That song deserves to be among better music, that's for sure.
The songsI did like are at the bottom of the chart.
Scouting For Girls, Florence & The Machine,Muse, Pretty Reckless,Ellie Goulding, Plan B.,Vika Jugulina. You won't see these artists in the U.S. top 10 that's for sure.
Too bad we don't get Pixxi Lott in the U.S. She's pretty and her songs are fun without being stupid.
Nah, If I was in the U.K., I would turn off my radio too.
I'm doing and have done no such thing. You're the one who's ragging on about a specific set of artists, and if you bothered to pay attention, you'd find out that they share a very limited set of producers who work for all of them at some point.drnrg wrote:You seems to jump on SAW's back alot. For starters ,the most part of thier catalog was Hi-NRG, which was a good developement for music and a big part of why we have Eurobeat today, so I can't possibly complain.
didn't you read what I posted? I said Eurobeat has always been like that from the start and that's exactly what I liked about it. It's when it starts sounding too different that I don't care too much for it, cuz Eurobeat is the closest style to my Hi- Energy hey days of the 80s ....and yes the age thing has to do with it. Lets see how you view pop music when you are in your late 30's? When It will no doubt be sung by a bunch of machines and electric devices. Its funny that he calls pop copycat music when the eurobeat he typically praises the most are the tracks that sounds like another track. And you're probably right Mike, its because most of us here are in our 20s while drnrg is closing in on 40 in the next few years. Hindsight is not only 20/20 but always viewed through rose tinted glasses.
I actually looked up all 75 songs on U.Ks chart on Youtube. I mentioned Plan B., but left out Train, cuz I liked them from the start and I posted my own list of the songs I do like. That list you posted is actually from the better end of that chart. I noticed you didn't mention any dance artist in the top 10. The difference with those artists you mentioned and Pixxie Lott is that they aren't trying to be a joke like the majoraty of American POP stars.it's the magoraty of those all dance songs that all seem to have the same melody and rapping. When did POp turn into a bunch of Urban Hip Hop dance songs? I fail to see that as creative. I expect more from POP music than a bunch of rehashing, beacuse it was never like that untill now. Even rock songs today rehash that same melody over and over. I can understand Eurobeat running out of melodies that carry that Italo sound, but POP music? Highly unlikely. But the one argument you've comprehensively failed to diffuse is that there's no creativity in the modern charts. There is bucket loads of it, but you are quite ignorantly hell-bent on focussing on a very narrow-visioned view of it where you see only the generic stuff that, yes, does work its way up the charts (because there's a lot of people who like a lot of crap).
But I look at the UK charts and see interesting and original stuff like:
Kelis / Acapella
Plan B / She Said
Train / Hey Soul Sister
Eliza Doolittle / Skinny Genes
Fyfe Dangerfield / She's Always A Woman
I even forgot how the whole pop rant started? In an attempt to get this topic back on to the original thread of conversation, I thought I'd write my review for Super Eurobeat vol. 204. Don't expect it to be as positive as 203 as I still think a large proportion of this album is filler rather than killer, but there are still some gems...
It's hilarious you say this cuz I think Mike Snap on Blast sounded nothing like DIMA. His vocals are really hyped to the point of sounding more like a hyped up Nando. I actually find Mike Snap's vocals horrible, but his songs were so damn good that I kinda overlooked that major flaw. On the other hand, There were a few Dima songs that were hyped like Tommy K.- Take Me Now, but for the most part Dima sounded a bit more like Gino Caria with his deep style of Millenium and $1,000s. Even his accent was more profound back then. The vocal style is very different to the almost Dima-esque quality that his vocals have under Blast! aliases (Saetta Kid in particular),
I especially love when he says he feels like a Bull. WTF .Sure, this track is probably as far away as you can get from No Control and Ready Steady Go! in Eurobeat style terms, but is that any reason to dismiss it straight out of hand. If you look below the surface, we find the same Manuel that we've always known - a cheeky and quirky lyric (that doesn't always make sense) is backed up by a fairly rollercoaster melody
A good review so far. I know you will take a crap on some of my favourit trax on the cd, but I still would like to read it, just to know exactly were you think they went wrong. I'm funny that way.Actually, the desire to review this album in full has left me completely now I'm act this stage. All of the best tracks have already past, and I wouldn't give anything above a 7 for the rest (mostly sub 5's though).
Right here:drnrg wrote:BTW, where is this original Sandy you speak of?
