i got the whole album on Friday; so here is my full review. It's going to be short because I'm too tired to think. XD Songs I didn't like get 0/5, and no comments - but doesn't denotate it as a "bad" song; it's all due to personal preference. ;) Songs I had the nerve to give lower than 0 and a huge bashing is a song I dispise. :P

1. Neo / Midnight Love (5/5)
I'm really liking the stuff being released by Neo; and this song is no exception!

2. Melissa White / Wanna Be With You (5/5)
This is a weird song - but that isn't nessesairly bad. It's really catchy, has a good 80's sound-feel (i think?) to it. My favorite Melissa White song by far.

3. Mr. M / Welcome People (0/5)

4. Groove Twins / Dance Dance Monsteru (-100/5)
This is the worse ABeatC song to have ever been released out of every single song released on every single album out there. I mean holy cow. O_O There have been some really 'crap' Groove Twins songs out there, also some really memorable ones. This one will be memorable, but not for being good.

5. Oda / Rainbow (4/5)
Another great Oda song! Not the best, but it's still pretty catchy. The singing in the introduction makes me laugh so hard though. XD

6. Annie / DD Dance (2/5)
Is this a cover of some j-pop song? From the title and it not being anywhere in the song; and the way the music composition is arranged and the lyrics are sung it seems like it. *shrugs* Anyway, it's really weird. I don't dislike the song; but it's just odd.

7. Rick Castle / You'll Never Be Lonely (6/5)
Wow... at first I thought this song was going to be quite bad; but it's really nice! It's like ...Hi-NRG Attack took a chill pill for this song! Awesome Awesome Awesome!

8. Go 2 / Power (3/5)
Another Go2 song... not the best, not the worst (I don't think I dislike any Go2 song; they're all great) ...but this one is just like "ok it's go2." It's no Not For Sale, I'll say that. ;)

9. Queen 26 - Popcorns & Sex (2/5)
This song sounds like it belongs on a DDR Soundtrack, not a SEB album. You've swung and missed again, Queen 26. =/ I've listened to the song a few more times; bumped the raiting upto 2 from 1. I still really dislike it; but it has grown a bit on me.

10. Cy-ro / Intercooler (4/5)
Another stereotypical Hi-NRG Attack song... good thing I like that! :) Not as good as Get The Dark Side Into My Brain, but still an great catchy song.

11. Sophie - My Word 2006 (2.5/5)
My World? duuh she sings "Word" so it's obviously an avex typo. Razz Usually I don't go anal about pronouncing in Eurobeat; but her singing "word" every single time drives me up the wall. Plus; the remaking of the whole thing doesn't sound at all good to me, which really disappointed me. My World is one of my favorite Eurobeat tracks so I was really looking forward to this 2006 version of it. When SEB171 goes on my iPod; My World 2006 will be replaced with the original.

12. Cody / Die Die (0/5)

13. Dana / I'm Ok (0/5)

14. Annalise - Say You Will (5/5)
I was really disappointed with Say Yeah; but this is soooo much better. With this track, I'm safe to say that I'm glad she's back. It's a solid song with beautiful sounding... sound (I have no concept of anything so don't mind my dumbed down terminology. haha) and her vocals are excellent... especially in the chrous.

15. Powerful T / Ace Of Spades (0/5)

16. Ai Yamamoto / Wonderful (2/5)
...is this Dr's Girl? This song is weird. Again, not bad, just weird...

17. Mark Gilligan / Honesty (0/5)

18. Nuage - I'm Gonna Carry On (5/5)
Finally, a decent song from Nuage since like... Sunday? Also, unless I'm going insane, I think I hear Lolita in the backgroud for a bit singing along. XD It's a solid track; different message than you're usual "omg i love you barf barf barf" theme Nuage was riding.

--------

Top 5:
Rick Castle / You'll Never Be Lonely
Nuage / I'm Gonna Carry On
Annalise - Say You Will
Neo / Midnight Love
Melissa White / Wanna Be With You

Bottom 5:
Mr. M / Welcome People.
Cody / Die Die
Dana / I'm Ok
Powerful T / Ace Of Spades
Mark Gilligan / Honesty

Most Horrific Song Ever Made:
Groove Twins / Dance Dance Monsteru

So the album was alright. I didn't enjoy a lot of the songs but a few jumped out that I that I didn't think would (like Nuage, Rick Castle, Melissa White) so I'm surprised. I'm still disappointed about My World 2006 though.

Reading FTW! ;) (but my english ftl. I wrote denotate and in this context it makes no sense. haha)

I pretty much agree with Bore's review, except I felt nothing at all for either HRG songs; they were both kind of boring.

I agree that Groove Twins' song was pretty horrid. :(

I listened to Annalise's song for a while and I discovered a few sounds that are from Garageband! (Especially around 1:56) I presume the song was mastered in Logic Pro, but still. It was fun to hear! That doesn't make the song bad at all, I love it! :D

Oh man, I just received SEB 171 today, and I love it! :D

I'm especially loving the Hi-NRG tracks on this one - after all the disappointments in the 160s, they've finally put two songs on this one which feel like a good return towards the glory days of the Euromach era (which, for me, is where many fantastic Hi-NRG songs appeared).

I'm also loving the increasing retro sound of these songs, while still having a fresh sounding approach to the synths.

So it's a thumbs up for me with this album!

171 wasn't TOO bad, some stuff just felt rather "....eh".

1. Neo / Midnight Love (4/5)

Not bad at all! I liked it quite a bit.

2. Melissa White / Wanna Be With You (0/5)

YEOW

3. Mr. M / Welcome People (3/5)

It's OK but I'm sure this song will tire me out soon.

4. Groove Twins / Dance Dance Monsteru (2/5)

It's not really my thing but it's not BAD. I'd listen to it, just not much.

5. Oda / Rainbow (0/5)

aaaargh

6. Annie / DD Dance (2/5)

ILikewise with the Groove Twins song. It's not that bad, just not really to my taste.

7. Rick Castle / You'll Never Be Lonely (4/5)

Pretty good. Not as energetic as My Little Girl or such but it's good enough.

8. Go 2 / Power (10/5)

POWER~! I liked this a lot!

9. Queen 26 - Popcorns & Sex (4/5)

At first I didn't like it but that was just the name. It's actually good.

10. Cy-ro / Intercooler (4/5)

All right! Pretty good, something I could drive my car to!

11. Sophie - My World 2006 (0/5)

I'm in her world? GET ME OUTTA HERE!!

12. Cody / Die Die (0/5)

I wanna die after hearing this.

13. Dana / I'm Ok (0/5)

I'm NOT ok!

14. Annalise - Say You Will (2/5)

Meh. Eh. A plain, plain song. Where's the drive?

15. Powerful T / Ace Of Spades (10/5)

I just love this track so much, it shines brightly along with Go 2's POWER. I've listened to it a lot.

16. Ai Yamamoto / Wonderful (0/5)

First Annalise, and now you. Bad Ai! Bad!

17. Mark Gilligan / Honesty (0/5)

You're not all that honest.

18. Nuage - I'm Gonna Carry On (0/5)

Nuage, please just sing on Sundays.
