I would say the usage on some labels needs to decrease a bit (SinclaireStyle in particular) but as long as the labels don't go crazy with it, I don't have that much of a problem with it.

This is the main problem for me. They sound like wussy keyboards. SomeTIMES they ruin ,what could have been an otherwise good songs. I especially despise them in Male Eurobeat. Nothing to do with male machismo whatsoever.

Eurogrooves and HRG Attack never use these Transy airy synths and I commend them for that.

That is why this new Domino song is allready scoring points with me

If Eurogrooves (See: Time) don't use airy synths, what are all those in the vast majority of Elena songs? Helena, Alexis etc. etc. those are what I would call airy more gladly than what per say Go Go's Music produce.

Not trying to be argumentative, but maybe a bit naive - could you give an example of two songs from the same label - one with "airy synths" and one without? I'm still having problems figuring out what ya'll mean. =\ (Would Runaway / Leo River and Hurry Upx2 / Lolita be a good example?)

Comon Bore, you know exactly what I mean. The Elena songs have a romantic airy feel to them, but Dall Ora never uses those style synths that say, Annalise songs usually have. hence they never sound "transy"


As for question Domino, here are two examples: One GoGo's /one ABeatC

Manuel -Adrenaline-= Traditional Eurobeat synths(I gave this label for sake of arguing)
People Like Dancing= airy synths

Two more examples. Mega NRG MAn. You gotta hear the differnece in these two

Red Light & Sex(Traditional Eurobeat synths)(GoGo's)
Let It Go(airy wussy synths)(AbeatC)

If you really wanna hear the distinct difference just listen to songs like Express Love, then you'll get what we mean for sure.

Nack 5 also uses airy synths throughout the song and it gets to me a little.

You know a lot of TIMES it just has to do with grungy guitars accompaning the synths

I wasn't getting at you, more so was stating the fact that what you call "airy" has a different meaning for someone else. I qualify Norma's light and thin synth style airy, as I do with the Elena songs. Occasionally SCP songs have the same style as well.

Actually, no. That's one of the very few exceptions from GGM I've heard so far.

And, Elena's synth riffs tend to be more Smooth than Airy... if that makes sense. =\

I believe Nine was trying to compare Runaway and Hurry Up Hurry Up, albeit poorly worded. It is, in fact, a great example of heavy versus light synths.

There's nothing wrong with light synths, but should they domineer over every eurobeat production? It's particularly irksome when labels use airy synths nearly ALL THE TIME. SinclaireStyle and Go Go's Music are the main culprits, which could factor into why those labels are not on my 'hot list' currently. It's also equally irritating on the flipside when labels get drunk off heavy synths, eg. Hi-NRG Attack.

Either way, I think it mostly boils down to the vocalist. I've always preferred lighter synths in Norma Sheffield and Nuage productions, which suit their softer style of singing, yet I'm not phased by those lighter synths in Lolita's recent productions. Lolita is a powerful vocalist who is more suited to a heavier synth than what GGM is currently giving her.

As for the topic at hand, Monkey Dance '09 is all right, though it's difficult to judge from a low quality sample. I much prefer the original from the sounds of it though.

I like "Monkey Dance"! Hopefully it will be released soon so I can get my hands on the mp3... good stuff~

I personally don't find Go-Go's synths "airy" or "light" at all. They may not be as direct as say the mega-harsh hits that Hi-NRG Attack have used in the past, but the difference is that GGM layer many different synth sounds to produce a rich and complex combination of synths that, overall, sounds quite deep and satisfying.

At the end of the day, everyone interprets the various sounds in Eurobeat as different things. Everyone knows it irritates the hell out of me when people bang on about "trancey" songs, but that's just the person's way of describing it. It doesn't make their opinion wrong or their logic flawed - it just means that different sounds mean different things to them.

As it is called 'Monkey Dance 2009', maybe it'll appear on SEB193? : D!

No, Monkey Dance 2009 isn't going to be 193, it was just made for IIDX.
