the_ditz, with zoupzuop2's thoughts on the clip wrote: * 01. SUPER EUROBEAT / DOMINO & VIRGINELLE feat. MEGA NRG MAN
ZZ2: Typical GGM. That's not a bad thing necessarily, but... their sound is almost more rigid than HRG's now. DROP THE "HIT-SYNTH" already!
* 02. SUPER EUROBEAT / EUROGROOVES ALL STARS
ZZ2: As usual, Sergio's musical education shines brightly. Not his best piece here, but it's not particularly bad.
* 04. BARBIE GIRL / ANDREA feat. SERGIO
ZZ2: For some reason knowing it's father and daughter makes it cuter; otherwise it'd sound a bit too forced. Unfortunately it seems that Sergio's entries were not as hot as previous SEBs, for my money.
* 05. LET THE MUSIC PLAYS / KRYSTAL & DIMA
ZZ2: Generic-sounding doesn't fit Dima; this song is good, but seems a little out of place for Dima's style, even given how good Krystal's was.
* 07. ETERNITY / ALEKY
ZZ2: Now HERE's a more fitting Dima entry! He's definitely got his soundworld established, I'll have to listen to the whole thing to really judge it.
* 16. HERE IT COMES THE SUN / NORMA SHEFFIELD
ZZ2: It's not THAT bad, guys. That said, Norma's voice is clearly straining to hit the notes her youthful self used to hit. It's a valiant effort though, Norma.
* 17. BEFORE TOMORROW / NUAGE
ZZ2: Unfortunately, it sounds almost like a step backwards for Sinclaire; while Nuage is a welcome comeback it sounds like he's doing nothing new from the later 180s to earlier 190s. Less portmanteau synths, more strike and power!
* 21. RUNNING TO MY CAR / BLACK EVA & NICK TURBO
ZZ2: Apart from speed, it's rather unorthodox HRG. Unfortunately Nick Turbo's vocals are a little off compared to Black Eva's. Meanwhile, HRG DOES A SLOW RIFF AGAIN LOLWUT
* 23. DANCE IN MY TOWN / DAVE & FUTURA
Wow. I'm VERY impressed with how Dave and Futura mesh! While Futura still sounds a bit meek, she's certainly got her staying power even alongside a powerhouse like Dave. And the RIFF~! OH GOD YES THE RIFF! I almost forgive them for "I Am Superstar", for how this turned out.
* 24. SUPER EUROBEAT / FRANZ TORNADO & THE TRI-STAR GIRLS
ZZ2: Franz and the ____ Girls sound tired somehow, as does the riff. I'm sorry, HRG. I can hear the effort you're putting in, but you simply sound frustrated in your entries in 199. Here's to better things in 201 and on.
* 27. SUMMER BOY, SUMMER GIRL / DELTA QUEENS
ZZ2: This is definitely a Morris Capaldi production. The telltale sounds and SMOKIN' HOT synth riff are ever present. YES.
* 28. SUPERSTAR / GO2 & DJ BOSS
ZZ2: WTF? Go2 sound okay, but WHY OH GOD WHY IS DJ BOSS RAPPING? IT SOUNDS LIKE THE BOSS FROM "OFFICE SPACE"!!! Riff isn't anything special either. Unfortunately Go2 gets the shivv for inferior rapping from the otherwise stellar DJ Boss.
Apart from a few stellar songs, this really REALLY strikes me as one big disappointment. I'll wait for SEB 200 or until Avex allows mu-mo or iTunes releases for us Yankees.
A lot's changed in the decade and a half I've been here.

The big shock for me is that having heard the 5 different Super Eurobeat titled tracks by 5 different labels now, my unexpected favourite is actually the SinclaireStyle one from 197!!

the_ditz's SUPER EUROBEAT TOP 5:

01 NIKO / SUPER EUROBEAT (SinclaireStyle) - from SEB 197
I loved the rising and falling melody, and synth hook key change actually made me wet myself! (Not really, but metaphorically speaking...) This proves to me that Niko could have a place in the future of Eurobeat, and it definitely made up for the poor Let's Go Wild.

02 DOMINO & VIRGINELLE feat. MEGA NRG MAN / SUPER EUROBEAT (GGM) - from SEB 199
This one gains the second spot purely because I love GGM's production - it's so sprightly and full of energy and life. This is the kind of atmosphere that drew me to Eurobeat tracks all those years ago...

03 ALPHATOWN / SUPER EUROBEAT (Asia/Saifam)
This one is composed in a similar way to the GGM version (the lyrics in the chorus in particular with all the "Super heat, super beat" lines) but the melody and delivery is a bit more generic to the label. This sounds like many other Asia tracks (not necessarily a bad thing) but it's not as fresh as the GGM version.

04 EUROGROOVES ALL STARS / SUPER EUROBEAT (Eurogrooves) - from SEB 199
Again, this isn't necessarily a bad song, but it just comes of sounding a little old-hat. When Eurogrooves appeared on the SEB scene, they seemed to have a newer, more modern sound going on, but here they seem to have reverted back to the old synths and super-heavy bass of Time.

05 FRANZ TORNADO & THE TRI-STAR GIRLS / SUPER EUROBEAT (Hi-NRG Attack) - from SEB 199
This track sounds like nothing special from the Live Music Studio team. The fact that more people are already talking about their other new track on the album more than this shows that this one is destined to be placed slap bang in the middle of the sea of other "reasonable" Hi-NRG Attack tracks. Shame...

I may have to do a full review of the new tracks from 199 later on when I can appreciate them all in full CD quality on my iPod juding from the lukewarm response to the album so far. I can't let the final SEB with new tracks of the current era just slip past - besides, it sounds too good not to review! :P

hahah! I'm gonna go ahaead and give my first impressions based on these samples, cuz I won't be buying this cd. Then I'm gonna bug the hell out of someone till they sends me the Eurogrooves trax in extended. That's how I got Jordan in extended

01. SUPER EUROBEAT / DOMINO & VIRGINELLE feat. MEGA NRG MAN
Thos sounds horrible aside from the riff, wich is pretty good. The vibe from that chorus doesn't reflect SuoperEurobeat at all.
5/10

02. SUPER EUROBEAT / EUROGROOVES ALL STARS
Hot damn, this is gonna be my favourite track once I gots the extended. The chorus has that classic Dancing Into The Night Italo vibe. This song reflects the SuperEurobeat series to a T.
10/10

04. BARBIE GIRL / ANDREA feat. SERGIO
so first we had Baby Accantino and now Baby Dall Ora. Babrbi Girl is one of the few dance genre songs that I like, so I'm really gonna enjoy this one. Especailly when Sergio takes on those vocals. I remeber the original had that funky male voice repeating some lines here and there. The riff does wonders for it. Andrea doesn't sound bad at all.
9+/10

05. LET THE MUSIC PLAYS / KRYSTAL & DIMA
I'm actually digging this sound. Dima sounds great and Krystal just adds to the fun. I wish someone leaks this on Google cuz I wanna hear the verse and bridge.
9/10

07. ETERNITY / ALEKY
Not bad the guitar sounds a bit off Eurobeat -wise this TIME around. Funny we mentioned Lucyia on another thread, cus this song kinda remeinds me of her style.
7+/10

16. HERE IT COMES THE SUN / NORMA SHEFFIELD
I usually like Norma, but this one sounds pretty bad...and it's not her vocals.
6/10

17. BEFORE TOMORROW / NUAGE
This likewise as bad. Nuage never sounded this generic. Give me "Shine" anyday over this song.
6/10

21. RUNNING TO MY CAR / BLACK EVA & NICK TURBO
funny how some fans don't like HRG, while others flip over thier music. I'm double flipping right now. Nick actually singing in his normal tone more often these days. There is also no hyped up female backup. This song soon to be a favourite of mine.
10/10

23. DANCE IN MY TOWN / DAVE & FUTURA
I have to agree with everyone and say that the riff is all kinds of awesome. That chorus is also sung pretty amazingly. Futura does fiull circle.
9-/10

24. SUPER EUROBEAT / FRANZ TORNADO & THE TRI-STAR GIRLS
It's HRG man, what can I say. Very cool riff.
9-/10

27. SUMMER BOY, SUMMER GIRL / DELTA QUEENS
The riff immediately jumps out at me. Definately gotta hear the rest.
9-/10

28. SUPERSTAR / GO2 & DJ BOSS
The best parts are when both Fastway and Ace take thier turns singing. This chorus doesn't do the song justice and I'm guessing hear. However that chorus is forever ruined by that abomination of rappping by DJ Boss. His vocal tone is so off, it sounds like he just started singing and ruinded the recording. arhg!!!
6/10

The few of these songs leave much to be desired. My ususl fav labels put out , while my not so favs poop out. That's all I gotta say.

Actually, the lyrics in the Domino & Virginelle feat. Mega NRG Man version are "Super E, Super B" :D

Aaaah, like Euro Beat! I can hear that now!

As for drnrg's request for extended versions, I'm not really holding out much hope in the immediate future considering I'm still waiting for my Sunshine Baby extended!

This is one of those rare SEBs for me where I honestly highly enjoyed the new tracks from every label. From GoGos to Delta to ABeatC and Eurogrooves. They all did a fantastic job. Nobody disappointed in my book.

This. Eurogrooves gave Barbie Girl a great hook, but it's just a shame that the song has been flogged to death.

Glad I've found another person (along with Darksky for the most part) that sees the merit in this album.

Just one more thing - why are Black Eva & Nick Turbo "running in my car, running in my pants"?? Slightly inappropriate surely? :D

Ha-ha-ha running in my pants :D
the_ditz, this album is an absolute winner for me.

Dancing in my town is growing soo much on me!
I'm starting to adore Futura's vocals.
The chorus is stuck in my heard now.
''Fire in the night, dance in my town''
''Feel it in my heart, for ever... and.. ever''
Now I want another Dave & Futura track, finally I start to believe.. Futura can be the Queen of Eurobeat as Dave said in the booklet of SEB198.

And yes, 199 is probably the best SEB album I've heard in ages.
No disappointments at all, all labels did very very well!
And sorry for those HRG fans that I gave 1/10 to both of the songs.

But that's just because I really don't like Hi-NRG Attack's style, I think they use their style over and over again. It's just getting too much of the same music for me, I don't really hear many differences between their songs at all. For me... ''Stargate/Starkly Ice'' is the only HRG song I really like!

I think 95% of the current female eurobeat singers would have to die before Futura becomes the Queen of Eurobeat. XD

I can't really judge if she's going to join the elite of the female Eurobeat vocalists after only 2 solo tracks and 1 duet. She needs more time to blossom and find her own unique style - every track she has been in so far has had a different feel, but I believe that in Dance In My Town she sounds much happier and more at ease with her vocal delivery.

I don't think she'll ever rival Elena Gobbi, Domino or Annerley for the power, but if she can find herself her own unique style there is no reason why she can't stick around for a long time. We'll just have to forget I'm Superstar was ever released... :D

So yeah, let's forget about that song.. and forgive her for what she has done to all of us.

I'd like to say sorry for every bad thing I've ever said about you Futura :x
