Top 10 from the SEB 200's so far

Post by the_ditz » 12 Jul 2010, 20:05

Everybody loves the opportunity to create more top 10 lists (sarcasm intended), so I figure why not sum up your favourite tracks from the 200 decade so far?

My top 10 tracks are:

01. Lolita - Good Love & Mystery
Amazing vocal melodies and great energy from a legendary vocalist!

02. Bon - Toy For Love
A flashback to the classic age of Eurobeat (Boom Boom Fire era) - such a catchy tune with an awesome beat!

03. Irene - CooLoveR
Short and very, very sweet - this is Irene at her very best IMO.

04. Momo - Send Me An Angel
That hook still blows me away!

05. Stephy - I Belong To You
A big change in style that reinvented Stephy as a true Eurobeat star!

06. David Dima - Somebody To Love
Love the galloping bassline and the anthemic chorus

07. Jager - I Won't Fall Apart
This has grown on me massively over the past couple of weeks - it's a future classic in my eyes now.

08. Manuel - All Is Magic
Manuel arrives on Dima with a bang. This got too much unfair criticism IMO.

09. Yo Shine - Power Of My Love
Was an awesome track...until CooLoveR appeared on 202 and stole its thunder!

10. Radiorama - You Are Always On My Mind
Just sneaking in to the top 10, Radiorama showcases a great track with its roots firmly in the Eurodance scene.

Top 10:

1. I Belong To You / Stephy Martini
2. All Is Magic / Manuel
3. Diabolik / Diabolik
4. Ready Forever / Chris Stanton

8. New Technological World / F.C.F.
9. I Won't Fall Apart / Jager

Yeah, Little Little Star has already lost quite a bit of its initial impact for me. It doesn't have much to offer melodically. I still like the song a lot, but I think it stood out more when it sounded unique to me, so it's less groundbreaking now that I'm used to it.

Bottom 5:

1. 10,000 Lovers / Mirka
2. Internet Kills The Eurobeat Stars / Princess F.
3. Power Of Love (Morris Capaldi vs. GND Remix) / Girl Next Door
4. Do With Me / Vicky Vale

Top 10 so far (SEB 201-205)

1) Power of My Love/Yo Shine (SEB 201)
- This song is easily the most critically acclaimed song out of the decade not only here on Eurobeat Prime, but on various other Eurobeat forums as well. Irene delivers a definite Eurobeat classic with her vocals and along with SCP's excellent production. Although some may say it's more of a club oriented track, it is different than modern Eurobeat, yet that is what makes the track stand out so well.
2) Your Barbie Girl/Vicky Vale (SEB 205)
- Delta's had many great songs, but this is one of the few excellent songs that they've had. The synth riff is fantastic and reminds me of a classic Delta sound, similar to www.deltadance.com, yet with more octane-filled energy. Clara definitely redeemed herself after the lacking Do With Me on SEB 203.
3) Good Love and Mystery/Lolita (SEB 204)
Elena Gobbi Frattini is arguably the most consistent vocalist in the history of Eurobeat; she rarely (if at all) slips up. However, we haven't seen Elena provide a new track since SEB 201 (unless you count My Hot Guitar with the Go Go Girls.). It is nice to have a refreshing Lolita track with an amazingly styled melody and a set of lyrics that, along with this title, make it a modernized Hot Love and Emotion. I have a feeling we'll be seeing a Fantasy 2010 around the corner.
4) I Belong To You/Stephy (SEB 203)
This is an interesting song. It took a while for this song to grow on me, but damn, it grew on me a hell of a lot. Stephy Martini debuts with Dima after leaving Delta remarkably, her powerful vocals are some of the strongest in Eurobeat, and for some reason this track reminded me of a mellower version of Hurricane by Karen. Their vocals are both deeper and have a sense of power that goes well with the slower Norma-esque tempo. Dima keeps on rolling, without a doubt the hottest producer in Eurobeat at this moment.
5) I Won't Fall Apart/Jager (SEB 204)
So, I do think this song is overrated. HOWEVER, it can not be denied (Even by me) that this song is one of the most popular and one of the best songs so far. It's a pop like anthem to me, it doesn't have complex synths that you may find in other songs, it's simple, but it works. Get out of my head, get out of my heart, this song, however, don't fall apart. Everything sticks together.
6) Live It Up!/Nathalie (SEB 201)
This may be a shocker for inclusion on this list. Upon first listen, I thought this was an average song. Sure, it's definitely no Heartbeat. But at the same time, Eurobeat has changed so much in 12-13 years since the years of Heartbeat and Night of Fire. Sinclare produces a fine track with an amazing guitar line that fits well with the song and it's perfect for the return of the long lost Nathalie Aarts.
7) One-O-Nine/Domino (SEB 203)
Domino... the most popular Eurobeat act ever. What can I say? She does it again. However, this track was produced in 2008, but it still works well with the tracks on this album. The Japanese lyrics may bug some, but it's Domino's way of paying back the Eurobeat fans in Japan. I wish people realized how much Domino gives back, more so than most if not all Eurobeat musicians. This song has an amazing intro and outro and even though you can't comprehend the lyrics, the party within the song is worth the ride.
8) Promised Discoland/Melissa White (SEB 204)
Melissa White hasn't been on SEB that frequently, last showing up on SEB 182 if I remember correctly. This song is from that era (being produced in 2008 also) yet the style is perfectly fitting for Melissa White's voice. This track is perfectly uplifting with it's lyrics and this track is probably the best I've heard from Melissa since "Wanna Be With You".
9) Toy For Love/Bon (SEB 203)
SinclareStyle has had it's ups and downs yet it really shines here. Another highly overrated track, however it is indeed awesome. I wish that Nuage would of done vocals for this track, the theme is more fitting for a female. However, Sinclare does an excellent job producing the track, and the melody is different from standard eurobeat. I like this, it's nice to see Bonini back.
10) I Wanna Run To You/Mickey B.(SEB 202)
- This song barely makes the list. However, this song is without a doubt, the highlight of the fall of A-Beat-C. This weakening label, apparently now defunct, delievers a strong performance at the end of it's reign. We've seen some absymal performances (I'm Superstar and All Around the World are calling your name...), yet the melody (it seems very similar to A Neverending Night) and Mickey B's vocals help let this label easily leave the series without a seemingly bad reputation. This is a sad thought, knowing that this may be the last we har of Mickey B, hopefully she'll appear on Go Go's.

Other Noteworthy songs
You Are My Wonder/Queen 26 (SEB 201)
Go Shinkasen!/Luke and Cherry (SEB 202)
I Can't Stop Lovin' You - Dream Fighters (SEB 203)

1. Jager - I Won't Fall Apart
2. Vicky Vale - Your Barbie Girl
3. Yo Shine - Power of My Love

5. Momo - Send Me An Angel
6. Lolita - Good Love & Mystery
7. Irene - CooLoveR

I'm saving the rest of these spots once this decade finishes.

Interestingly enough, the most universally loved track of this decade so far is.....

Power Of My Love by Yo Shine (as it appears in 8 top 10's).

Close behind is I Won't Fall Apart by Jager (with 7 appearances) and then Toy For Love by Bon (with 6 appearances).

SCP should be feeling pretty loved at this moment :)

I find it interesting how I'm the only one who hasn't included that song in their top 10 so far (well, Nine too, but he only posted a top 5).

"Power of My Love" has grown on me quite a lot while I was travelling throughout Europe, but it's not enough to reach my top 10. Parts of that song still annoy me.

Trust me, those are the only 5 songs I like so far, so it's impossible for me to create a top 10. If I did, I'd be lying and Power Of My Love still wouldn't be in it because I didn't like it at all. haha

Well, that makes two of us. That song barely grazed my top 40. I think SCP is also dieng great ,but for different songs from the rest of you.

As far artist ratio is concerned Chris Stanton is way aheaed with not one , but two songs in various top 10s.

Mine will be based on my top 40 weekly Eurogrooves and the lasting mark a song has on me. Quite a few songs raced up the charts , but immediatley fell out. SEB 205 is really a bad cut mark , since most songs, while being great ,have not yet reached the level of some of my top favs.

DR. NRG'sTOP 10 Eurogrooves of the decade so far.

1. Chris Stanton- Ready Forever (TIME)/ Christian- Take This Way(Eurogrooves)
It's just one super extended song when mixed, but I love it.

2. Mr. Moog- Say Goodbye (Dima music)
Epicness All around from one of my favourit vocalists ever.

3. Manuel- All Is Magic (Dima music)
Dima style is really amazing.

4. Joe Banana- Cataclysm Night (HRG Attack)
In a top 20 there would be more HRG songs, but this one shines for it's whole theme and Festari.

5. F.C.F. - Technological World (Saifam)
luv it! nuff said.

6. Apple- Playboy (Eurogrooves)
Elena always guarantees her spot in the top 10.

7. David Dima- Freedom (Dima music)
I love this song, but I feel "Sombody To Love" will fare higher in the year end countdown.

8. Manuel- Nightrain (GGMs)
I'm surprised this song has made no appearences? Could it be to spite him for "All is Magic"?

9. Hotblade- Plastic (SCP)
I think this will have a long run in my top 10.

10. Ken Blast- When The Sun Goes Down (DELTA)
DELTA's sole offering so far, but I think Vicky Vale to show up real soon.

Bottom half is equally as fun to compile. also based on how well or bad it does in my weekly 40. #1. being the worst of the lot. To be fair I will not include the J.POP or crap remixes. Most of this songs made little to no impace on me.

1. Ester- Nobody Loves Me Like You Do (GGMs)
I already know this to be the worst of the lot.
2. Domino- One O Nine (GGMs)
Equally as bad
3. Domino- 1000 Lovers (ABeatC)
Domino is't fairing so well on her own.
4. Yo Shine- The Power Of Love (SCP)
I even tried putting this one on my top 40 spins, but I really couldn't stomach it for too long.
5. Fastway- Rock Beatin Wild (SCP)
Fizzled off my chart within weeks.
6. Irene- Cool Lover (SCP)
I actually thought it was pretty decent, untill theose little shoutouts were brought to my attention. I haven't played it since.
7. Princess F.- Internet Kills The Eurobeat Stars (HRG Attack)
It really isn't too bad after a few spins, but those same spins are it's downfall.
8. Karen- Evergreen (AbeatC)
I've played this 2 x since I heard it. compared to Jay Lehr's 25 spins
9. Paul Harris- Bang Bang (DELTA)
This one is having a hell of a TIME breaking my top 35.
10. Danny Rock- Rainbow (Saifam)
Another fizzler even before making the top 40.
