Avex iTunes Music Gone?

Post by Megan188 » 15 Nov 2011, 02:48

I just purchased Fightin' Over Freedom by Ace on iTunes last night, but when I looked up Avex's stuff on iTunes today, everything, from the SEB special collections to the company's other music, was taken down, at least on the US store. I checked further, and their stuff is still on the Japanese and even Canadian iTunes stores, just not the US one. What the hell?

U.S. are mostly interested in LMFAO and Pitbull. No accounting for taste at all :P

Well, once, my favorite (japanese) rock band, B'z, remove their "EP" from internationnal iTunes. I rechecked once a month or two later and it was back. I suppose this temporary because, if all the other music that is not related to Eurobeat removed by Avex, then it's because something's wrong and must re-upload or something.

So long as they're still going to be releasing the new albums on itunes Japan that's what's important for me. Surprised they lasted this long out with the sacred Japan!

I don't even see Ayumi Hamasaki albums up. It's not just Eurobeat... it's avex-owned material as a whole.
A lot's changed in the decade and a half I've been here.

Been meaning to check this on the UK iTunes store, and I'm sorry to report to the folks in the US that all of the Super Eurobeat Special Collections, SinclaireStyle Hyper Techno collections and other avex stuff (such as ayumi hamasaki) are all still available for purchase on UK iTunes.

This is looking more and more like some weird kind of copyright or licensing issue in the United States only... :???:

My guess it has to do with the iTunes Match service that came out recently and Avex might not be liking the terms of that service in regards to receiving the revenue from the service. This is pure speculation though.

Yes, it's Avex-wide. It's created a bit of a kerfuffle recently with all their J-Pop stuff going down too.

Once iTunes Match becomes available in the other international iTunes stores, Avex might remove their songs from those stores as well. So, for the non-US citizens, if there's a song you really want from those special collections, you better get it now just in case.
