Everything that is eurobeat can be discussed here.

SEB prices to go up again in 2007.

Post by d-tan » 08 Nov 2006, 03:33

Starting with SEB 174, the price is going to jump back up to 3000yen. T_T

For the people who support the series (which should be everyone...), what do you think of this?

Personally for me, with this lack of quality in the past 2 SEB's (171 mostly, I liked 172 actually), I don't think it's justified unless they either make the tracks all extended mixes or give us better songs.

As if importing from Japan wasn't expensive enough -.-

I don't like this idea at all but if this is what it takes for the series to stay on the market, then I'm all for it.

And Dom, the other day I was thinking how odd it was that you don't post on these forums and then poof there you are. Welcome to the world of bitching about the labels we love ;P

I think it's really expensive... maybe not a wise move.

As I am a ''Eurobeat boom'' I will buy them in any way.
But! Avex should have more interesting in the fan's wishes.
I just want extendeds? Yeah, and maybe more...

Well, we've had a decent run since 161 of cheaper albums...173 should be just as expensive as 159 and beforehand.

I would pay more if they would give us 15 EXTENDED tracks on a cd. It is a shame the art or the instrumental break has long been lost in eurobeat because Avex chooses to use the short formats.

It seems that I stand alone in my love for the SEB 4 minute edit format - I don't see why anyone would want less tracks per CD anyway, only to gain an extra minute or so of drawn out instrumental breaks...Sure extended versions have their place, but SEB for me is about showcasing the songs in their, if you like, "radio edits" and I like it that way...

As for the price, it's really just bringing things more in line with the likes of the Best of SEB albums and the Initial D ones, so I don't see it as a massive problem (of course, I'm not mad about the idea, but like Densetsu said if that's what it takes to keep the series running then so be it...

You aren't alone. As many people know, I love the non-stop albums because there are so many tracks jam packed into one album; so it would be obvious that I'm not a big fan of extended mixes. Sure, I like songs I absolutely adore as extended mixes and listen to those from time to time; but to knock off 3 tracks off an album just to draw out the other 15 by another minute is something I don't welcome. Especially since the past SEB albums, in my humble opinion, have been greatly lacking in song quality. I'd rather have 3 favorites out of 18 radio edits than 0 out of 15 extended mixes! :P

With the price hike in 2007... I'm going to be very selective of what I buy. I don't think I will pre-order anymore, unless there is an artist or hyped song being released that I know I will want to buy the album for. I was disappointed with SEB171 and very disappointed with 172... and if this trend continues, why should I even pay MORE money to just buy an album I won't like?

Also, DOM!!!! It's great to see you post here! Do it more often ;)

You mean Gatti being present on the CD, right? :)

I basically already do what you have above. I don't pre-order unless I know I'll like the album, or I've heard some of the songs and enjoyed them.

I have a pretty nice eurobeat collection, so I'm not complaining with my way of purchasing. The prices going back up is annoying though.

Comming from a guy who has been known to pay as much as $50.00 for a 12' that seems cheap to me :D

I'll take my 18 trax per cd anyday over less extended trax. Besides you can D/L extendeds off that Mou Mou site or what ever it's called. Well, Anyways tou guys can, the Dr. can't, because I don't inderstand what the site says

Read the guide I wrote up on that other thread! :P

Anyways, I'd rather they keep the 18-song format. I mean, look at the reviews people write. There's still a lot of variety, and people like different things. Only way I could see it going to less songs is if a label got dropped, which I (mostly) don't see happening.

I can't understand you people. You don't need the extendeds?
Avex always cut the most special parts of the songs. Why good is that 3 verse and the song has the end? I like when the music stopped, or they put in something special, you know what I mean.
And for the mumo, Who needs those poor quality wma's? They kill music, if those extendeds were in mp3 it woul dbe better and more acceptable.

Let's face it, if they moved down to extended version CDs, Hi-NRG would probably get the boot :-( And I'd rather that didn't happen, thanks.

However, it's worth noting that not ALL Eurobeat songs are that heavily cut when they reach SEB - Bazookaaa, Maid Attack, Super Guts and Pun Pun Beam were all released on a Hi-NRG iTunes album, and none of them were extended any longer than the SEB cuts. That might be because they just used the SEB edits, I dunno - but there are plenty of cases where the SEB edit IS the "extended" edit.

Just judging from what's been done on Mu-mo, HRG doesn't seem to make really extended versions lately. Maid Attack was about 10 seconds longer than the SEB edit, same with Intercooler, and Get a Boom is even less.
