Fantasy SEB Cover Challenge

Post by Bore » 03 Jan 2007, 23:23

After spending several hours in the car today and being extremely bored, I was thinking about various things to do with the site and one of the ideas I came up was setting up a small playfull game.

We all love the weird and bizarre Super Eurobeat album covers, and we often have also yapped how we'd like certain kinda covers to be shown and such. So here's the deal, make up your own Super Eurobeat cover and present it. After a certain period of time we'll tally up all of the entries and have a vote on the best cover. Just for the fun of it.

I'll start with my sorta predictable test I did fast. Wanna find the proper fonts for the covers though, for the different ones I had visioned already :/ Especially the small text, had lots of difficulties finding any font that'd be even remotely close to the original. So if anyone has the name of the font ready, please do say.

EDIT: I'm becoming demented, remembered the thread about this after posting this and Mikaeru already pointed out the font being Helvetica Inserat. *tries to find the font*

So let's just see imaginative, unique and different kind of suggestions to what the SEB covers *COULD* be. Always girls, girls, girls ;/

I said it in that other thread, but to clear it up here too, that's the font of the non-title text (EVERLASTING DANCE TRAX... and the track listing on the back pre-160). And it's not *quite* that font, but it's close enough. There's places you can buy it, but it's over $20. :P

And the "vol. 15X" etc text at the bottom of the 150 era appears to be a font edited to be thinner, but can't find which one, though there's a lot of similar ones.

The 160-era track listing font is almost certainly Bureau Grotesque, but I'm not sure what variation. Three Three looks closest, but I'd need to see how they look smaller.

That image disturbs me to no end  But keep the entries coming people! My photoshop skills are ass, but I enjoy checking out what you people come up with (although no one has posted something along the lines of what I have pictured in my head).

Maybe I'll get my boyfriend to help me out, he's good with photoshop...

Aaww DigitalCyber that one is adorable, love the colors and the whole composition of the shot.

And Drnrg that one is mighty amusing, has a nicely dirty feel to it in a way ;)

If you believe HMV Japan, then THIS is a very different look for SEB o_O

Looks like they're seriously trying to revamp the look and content of the series for 2007.
