Extremely Late Review Of 153

Post by Jion » 02 Jan 2005, 20:06

Late but better late than never huh?

<P> - Platinum Award
<G> - Gold Award
<S> - Silver Award

1.Stephy Martini - Emotions

Quite possibly one of the best Delta songs I've heard in a long time. Borrowing heavily from pop and rock styles in this song, its quite different from any other eurobeat song I've ever heard. The guitars are extremely smooth and the sound is hard & powerful yet soothing and soft at the same time. Quite exquisite and definately a song not to be forgotten.

10 out of 10 <P>

2.Dusty - It's My Life

The first time I heard this song, I had to repeat the song simply because of the lyrics. Ennio Zanini himself (Fastway/Dusty) wrote the lyrics and they are clearly about a past situation that Zanini had in his life. They are too deep and too emotional to be forgotten. The song is also as breathtaking as the lyrics that accompany it. Great way to begin the new year of Eurobeat from SCP. Just stunning...

10 out of 10 <P>

3.Maxx Ducati - Million Dollars

Gianni Corriani comes back to us with another stellar song! The intro is highly remenicent of the Euromach intro of 777 or the song Money on 151. The music comes off strong and fast just like all of LED's work and once again, Corriani's vocals pull off an amazing work of art that sounds a lot like his work as Otello on the Europanic! series. Outstanding job and so much fun to listen to many times over!

10 out of 10 <P>

4.Donna - In Your Dreams

For some reason, Clara Moroni has taken over this name as well. Her great singing abilities are quite hindered though in this song as it just doesn't seem to find it's rhythm. Not horrible but quite dissapointing. Delta needs to seriously pick up their work. The main focus should be on the singing by Clara as the rest of the song isn't eventful at all.

6 out of 10

5.Garcon - Pistol Man

Ah yes the ever interesting Garcon. Perhaps the funniest song on the album simply because of the line "get a pistol, get a pisto pistol man!" When I let my friend listen to this part, she practically fell over laughing! HI-NRG Attack represents whats fun about Eurobeat and the genious song writing is trully a marvel to behold in this song as well.

10 out of 10 <P>

6.Dave Simon - Disco Music

Disco starting off, Time song after the intro. The only feeling of disco music you get after the intro is the guitar around the song. Other than that, its really a typical Time song that just floats around there in the 6 or 7 range. I decided to go with the higher grade because it was an interesting take on disco style Eurobeat.

7 ouf ot 10

7.King & Queen - Boogie Boogie

Just incredible! Nuage and Lolita have made a great combination before and they return for more excitment! One of my favorite duets of the year. This song combines excellent energy with just plain fun. Listen to it over and over again!

10 out of 10 <P>

8.Mike J. - Touch And Go

Newcomer to Time. Well this song is the first time I can honestly say that it's a mixed bag for Time. Usually I either hate their songs or love them. The singer is okay, nothing too phenominal about him but still there's something there you notice. The song is typical Time style but still oddly different. I wish that they really made his style different like they did for Nameless. To me the style is what kills this song since it seems like typical Gambogi.

7 out of 10

9.Jeff Driller - Control Alt Delete And Blow

Ah yes, the one title on the CD which made everyone look at it twice to make sure they read it correctly. Federico really pulls a great vocal performance (shame that HI-NRG Attack doesn't focus more on vocals as they profess music style over everything else) and really pulls you into this song. What you get is something that will hook you in many times again. Only thing is that too many of the HI-NRG Attack songs are starting to sound extremely similar. While this song isn't the same as others, its becoming really apparent the more you hear their music.

10 out of 10 <P>

10.Lisa Lion - Lionheart

I absolutely love this style for Lisa Lion! When I saw her on the 150 DVD, I immediately thought she was a rocker. I could so picture her with a guitar just blasting away. Well lo and behold here comes this masterpiece of a song that shows so much emotion. Those expecting the same Lisa from last time might be dissapointed but give this style a chance! The lyrics amazed me too and how she delivers them in this song is just plain fantastic. Even better, this is the second guitar solo song on the album! I just find guitar solos to bring that extra hit to an already great song!

10 out of 10 <P>

11.J. Storm - Shout

Wha..? What are you doing here? Weren't you done with Eurobeat? If not... stay for the ride! Apparently Giancarlo Pasquini convinced Fabio Lione to stay on for a while to deliver an action packed song! A mix of We Are The Children Of Rock and Rock The Universe while mixing in a little more of its own things, this song is quite good and quite moving. Fabio still delivers an audio performance worth mentioning. And of course I would be foolish not to mention this. Guitar solo!!!!!!

10 out of 10 <P>

12.Irene - Dancin' Baby

SCP has returned slightly to the style that made them famous on Euromach. The happy go lucky memories of Kiki & Kika return here through Irene. The identity of the artist is still a mystery (check www.scp-music.com later on this month for artist updates and a lot more, maybe some info on Irene may pop up) but whomever it be, its still great all around.

10 out of 10 <P>

13.Joe D. Toaster - Black Night Cadillac

The third installment of HI-NRG Attack is perhaps its most dissapointing. I love the intro but as soon as the singing starts on the A-Melo and on it gets a little rusty. By no means is it horrible but it just doesn't flow as right as Pistol Man or Control Alt Delete & Blow. The best part is the intro.

9 out of 10 <G>

14.Bonnie & Clyde - Criminals

Is it just me or does there have to be a song every year (2004's was Freedom by Jackson 'O) that is just plain horrible. I cannot condone this song nor will I say much more than avoid it.

2 out of 10

15.Lucya - Beautiful

Beautiful is well... beautiful! The singing is top notch and the music accompanying it is just as phenomnial. Not much else to say other than go listen to it!

10 out of 10 <P>

16.Nuage - You'll Never Stop Me Lovin' You

Welcome to disco! Straight from her album Sunday, Nuage performs in quite typical fashion. The music is great but there is very little that the song can really do to attract that much attention. It's a very well produced song, but not Nuage's best. However, I really like this song a lot and still listen to it despite it not being her best.

9 out of 10 <G>

17.Nick Mansell - Feel The Power

I was confused in the beginning, was it Stormy Night? SCP really needs to stop using that rising cymbal introduction to a song. It's been on I Wanna Take A Chance, Stormy Night, Run, Just Can't Get Enough and used periodically in other songs. But thats pretty much the only thing I can complain about the song. It reminds me a lot of a mix between Welcome To The Real World and Nick Mansell's earlier work. Case in point, you loved Nick before or you loved Welcome To The Real World, you'll love this song.

10 out of 10 <P>

18.Christine - Wings Into The Sky

Is it just me or is SCP really pushing their female talent forward singing wise? The singing from the females in SCP has really turned many heads and Christine is leading the movement! This song is absolutely gorgeous and needs to be listened to while reading the lyrics to get a true understanding of the message. I was absolutely floored by this song.

10 out of 10 <P>

Overall 10 out of 10

If you haven't gotten it, its best you do! This CD is absolutely amazing and shows some extreme highs (and one very bad low) of all the labels.

I do agree on most of the praises you just said, but have to be critical about a few parts. Mostly HI-NRG Attack, I know that they have the talent and skill to produce different and unique songs, those three songs just didn't manage to make any kind of difference what so ever. Take 10 seconds from all of the three songs (without vocals) and place them next to each other and you won't be sure which song was which again...

Which is why I said this in my review of Control Alt Delete & Blow

"Only thing is that too many of the HI-NRG Attack songs are starting to sound extremely similar. While this song isn't the same as others, its becoming really apparent the more you hear their music."

I totally agree with you Panu. And its becoming extremely apparent the more you hear HI-NRG Attack's music

Well, I got to disagree with you guys. I think it's the worst SEB album I've ever heard. Really not my kind of eurobeat :x

Ok I'll do a review. But everybody have their own personal tastes.

To give you an idea of what kind of eurobeat that I like, here's some songs that I'm listening to recently :
- mad max - tsunami comes
- pamsy - dancin' alone
- dark angels - right now (euro power mix)
- pretty woman - cybersexy girl
- niko - superbad

01 - Stephy Martini - My Emotions

Really nice oppening song. But it's taken from an old song. Nothing fresh.
4/5

02 - Dusty - It's My Life
Really nice mood. I like it.
4/5

03 - Maxx Ducati - Million Dollars
funny beat. weird sounds. cheezy lyrics... Cha! Cha! Cha!
1/5

04 - Donna - In Your Dreams
Pretty good song, but nothing impressive.
3/5

05 - Garcon - Pistol Man
Those crappy Bazooka-ish beats are really starting to irritates me. ps : Garcon means Boy in French..
1/5

06 - Dave Simon - Disco Music
Dave Simon can do a lot better. Kinda dissapointed.
2,5/5

07 - King & Queen - Boogie Boogie
Boogie Boogie...
2/5

08 - Mike J. - Touch And Go
Nice beat, but I don't like his voice at all.
3/5

09 - Jeff Driller - Control Alt Delete And Blow
I really don't like this Bazooka style eurobeat. I can't help it..
1/5

10 - Lisa Lion - Lionheart
Lionheart, Squall's most badass limit break in Final Fantasy VIII. Good song, but nothing impressive again.
3/5

11 - J. Storm - Shout
I'm starting to get bored of this rock eurobeat, and it's not the best J.Storm's song.
3/5

12 - Irene - Dancin' Baby
too girlish
3/5

13 - Joe D. Toaster - Black Night Cadillac
3 Bazooka style songs in a SEB album is a way too much. It sounds so messy and crappy!
1/5

14 - Bonnie & Clyde - Criminals
Ultra cheezy lyrics, but not that bad.
3/5

15 - Lucya - Beautiful
Pretty good song, but not intence enough
4/5

16 - Nuage - I'll Never Stop Me Lovin' You
Not sure. I fell asleep while listening to it..
2/5

17 - Nick Mansell - Feel The Power
Really nice. My favorite song of the cd.
4/5

18 - Christine - Wings Into The Sky
Excellent song. Very good choice for the closing song I really like the beat.
4/5

In conclusion, this album is so so. There is no killers songs that will blow your head off and too much filler songs. You should listen to it at first before buying it.

I see that you Matyu are a huge fan of Delta (seeing as 4 of the 5 songs you posted as being what you currently like are Delta songs). 153 was a big let down for Delta in my opinion and they only had 3 songs which is probably one factor as to why you didn't like 153 that much. It was heavily dominated by SCP (yay!) which is a good thing or a bad thing (guess which one it is for me =D) depending on your tastes.
