I guess I was overgeneralizing. It does have trancy synths/elements in parts, such as the intro; it's still genuine Eurobeat, as opposed to the trancier stuff that SCP often does.

12/5/08:

1. Money Gets Funny / Dee Dee Wonder: Oh my god, just listening to this track again, I gotta say that's easily one of the most awesome Hi-NRG Attack female performances to date! 1998 to 1999 imo was easily the best era for HRG imo, and this track simply represents just about every aspect that proves it. Every single moment of this track is worth remembering; from the quirky intro that draws the attention immediately; to the full-on, catchy synthline; to the vocal phrases that stick out as much as possible and scream "classic" everywhere. Even though Melody isn't singing it, HRG's other major vocalist at the time does her job with excellent delivery and powerful enthusiam. The backgrounds use every possibility and take advantage of them to compliment the already-infectious vocal progression and boost it to even further levels. An absolute masterpiece out of HRG's immense catalogue.

2. Pagal / Mara Nell: This is my new favorite track off of SEB 192. Unlike some of the album's other numbers (Hey Boy especially is just starting to sound a bit too predictable to retain its value after a while), Pagal has done nothing except continue to grow on me. Despite the unpleasantly attrocious feedback the song has received, I continue to listen to it and can't find a single thing that I don't love about it. The synth, though fairly chaotic, is nonetheless extremely intense in a great way that retains its excitement value and sounds better with each listen, while the vocal melody is just as aggressively catchy and intriguing the entire time. The vocals seem to have been one of the major factors that has turned off the community from this track, but I fail to see how they can really be that bad. Melody's rich tone is still present, and while this is arguably not her strongest showing to date, she still does the job efficiently and fits the song well. The whole package very much brings out the most of what Hi-NRG Attack is capable of, and I firmly believe that this is, without a doubt, my favorite female performance that HRG has released on a Super Eurobeat compilation.

3. Russian Gangster / Cindy: Still sounds quite fresh and out-of-the-box even after several listens. So much intensity and flare is packaged into this amazing track, making it a close runner-up to Pagal as my favorite new-school female Hi-NRG Attack performance.

4. Love Is Gonna Get You / Crystal: This is a long-lost Delta production that was featured on Eurobeat Flash ages ago, so it sadly never really got any significant attention. Retrieving it from Eurobeat Masters, however, I find it to be quite a gem in many ways. It's melodically one of the most dynamic and interesting Newfield presentations from the late 1990's, with incredibly cute and well-delivered vocals to fit (it's a shame that this girl never saw anything further with the label). The chorus is the main stand-out section of this track, but the rest isn't anywhere far behind. The synthline may not have a ton of complexity, but it still works fantastically in its simplicity. A rewarding and extremely pleasant surprise from none other than Delta Records.

5. Dance In The Fire / Mad Max: I was having a discussion with the_ditz a few weeks ago, when he described the song Rock Of The Nation by Mad Max to be "generic, but fun". This is coincidentally pretty much exactly what I'd say about the following song from the same alias, Dance In The Fire. Unsurprisingly, a generic title like this doesn't exactly promise anything radically unique from general eurobeat standards, but when all the basic ingredients are still put together exceptionally, the lack of uniqueness is pretty much irrelevant to the song's replay value. Even with such a basic melodic structure, Dance In The Fire is manipulated with passionate style and comes off sounding remarkably solid and interesting. It was one of the most popular tracks of the 110's decade, and there's rightfully a reason to that.

6. Don't Break Down / Mister Max: I would've never thought I'd ever find myself saying this, but this song has grown on me so much that I can easily declare it as one of the best Asia catalogue numbers of 2007. I had generally found this song to be a bit hollow and lacking the real punch of other Mister Max songs such as Rambo and Crash Boom Boom, but as I have learned to change my overall perspetive of this track, I've discovered it to be quite charming in its own style. Though it isn't as hardcore or dynamic as most Saifam male performances, it does still happen to be quite upbeat and bouncy without the usual traits. The synthline is enitrely phrased in long strings of 8th notes, which is generally not a trend in eurobeat except when applied to the airier Time productions, but here even without the added complexity, the melodic range explored by the sabi is quite broad and thus holds my attention without sounding repetitive. This simple, straightforward approach to the whole package is continued into the vocal melody, which may not have excited me the first time but now work very nicely as a full package. I especially love the "oh...oh-oh-oh-oh's" that repeat during the intro and are directly addressed during the b-melody ("tokyo delight, tokyo deli-i-ight"), and even though the chorus isn't the track's standout phrase, it is catchy enough to support the song so that it still flows on really soundly. Overall, this definitely isn't gonna please everyone, but it's definitely quite fun if it comes to grow on you.

7. Sexy Wild & Crazy Sound / Laura Vox: A quirky surprise that turned out to be worth the hype even though it wasn't my initially my favorite song. Though this isn't the only time Hi-NRG Attack has slowed down the pace a bit in their releases, this is definitely the track that makes the best use of it. This overall presentation has a heavy retro vibe to it, complete with a really cool opening bassline and a soundworld that sounds quite danceable while still sounding distinctly Hi-NRG Attack-produced. I'm quickly becoming a fan of Laura Tartuferi and would love to see more of this type of material from her in the near future.

8. Everytime You Go / Pizza Girl: For a Delta production, this track sounds surprisingly fitting as a Hi-NRG Attack presentation. The most notable traits that make this song stand out like an HRG production would be its bouncy feel (thanks to the extra emphasis on the downbeat as well as a more straightforwardly-structured rhythmic progression), plus its busy synthline, complete with straight 16ths that always wind up on a different note from the last. I actually find this song to be quite infectious, as its standout elements distinguish it remarkably from a usual Delta faire and again help maintain its replay value for quite an amount of time.

9. Breakin' Out / Ace: Still one of my favorite unreleased tracks that Avex uploaded onto iTunes, Breakin' Out is aesthetically interesting, full of raw energy, and has top-notch production values, as generally expected from SCP.

10. You And Me / Lucky Boy: This is perhaps one of my favorite Eurobeat Flash-era performances by Gianni Coraini from his stay at Hi-NRG Attack. In addition to the fresh, energetic, and strikingly effective production values, the lyrics are easily some of the most creative and interesting from Hi-NRG Attack and boost the track to an even catchier level. A perfect representation of the label's standout qualities from this classic era of eurobeat.

Down to top 10 again on account I was listening to the new Hinder, Nickleback and Scott Weiland rock cds.

Dr. NRG's top 10 Eurogrooves

1. Eurogroove- Euronight(Eurogrooves)(1)
2. John Desire- Hot Limit(Eurobeat Masters)(debut)
Finally heard this song is it's entirety. I gotta say it has one amazing synth hook just like the ones he wrote at TIME. This one reminds me so much of Hot Love Games it's incredible. The lyrics are completelt wacked, but for the most part he has a thing for mermaids and I get a cool sex tones lyric feel.

3. Speed McQueen- Speed Control(HRG Attack)(2)
4. Apple- Hey Boy(Eurogrroves)(4)
5. Kevin Johson- Tonight Tonight(DELTA)(5)
6. Go 2- Purple Emotion(SCP)(11)
This song just keeps comming back to my list. The production is picture perfect and the overall feel just has such a good vibe it actually feels like you're floating on air.

7. Jeff Driller - Fast Cars In My Dream(HRG Attack)(6)
8. Cindy - Russian Gangsters(HRG Attack)(3)
9. Nick & Samantha - Bubble Gum(HRG Attack)(10)
10.Garcon- Ride In My Speedy Car(HRG Attack)8
