Review Of Super Eurobeat Volume 156

Track 01 - Dave Rodgers - Wild Reputation 2005

It’s been a while since we’ve had a Dave song on SEB. Shame though that it’s not a totally new song but it’s still cool. Basically if you’ve heard the old version, you have a pretty good idea of how this song sounds like. They updated the synths, the vocals plus the guitars are really nice to hear. Great overall performance; a classic done right!

Track 02 - Lilibeth - Shine Forever

We’ve been kinda waiting for this song for a while now. The music, in my opinion, is the best part of this song. No offense to the very talented Lilibeth, but that classical guitar in the background really pushes this song a whole lot into a great direction! If you’ve heard Lucya’s song on 153, picture that just a lot faster. Great feeling!

Track 03 - Jackson O' – Shock

Much much better than Freedom in my honest opinion. Freedom wasn’t one of my favorite songs, nor a song I would pull out every so often. It was one of my least favorite songs. This song truly makes up for it. It’s really well done and very addictive actually. Time is really pulling out the stops on their songs. The Michael Jackson stuff isn’t all that annoying this time around! It actually adds to the song!

Track 04 - Vicky Vale - Maximum Love

This song really didn’t blow me away like I expected it to. After such a great performance, Delta moves back into it’s comfortable territory which hasn’t been too impressive… 155 was phenomenal for them. This song just doesn’t capture the energy Clara Moroni has. Not too bad though but I expect more from Delta’s queen.

Track 05 - Terence Holler - Dance Into Your Fire

Wow… Amazing song that just isn’t what Terence Holler did with Rock Your Fire. More synth oriented with a more subdued singing style. Very nicely done though. Manuel… I mean Terence Holler has some great singing abilities that are really viewed nicely here. Solid all around

10 out of 10 <P>

Track 06 - Kiki & Fancy - Big In The Night

I personally thought that Wake Up! wasn’t Kiki & Fancy/Kika’s best job. Compared to their older stuff, it just didn’t have the energy. Now this song brings back that nice happy feeling! I can so see me and my friends running through a carnival with this song playing in the background. It’s has SCP’s newish style where they mix in some trancy effects which actually goes well with the keys. The vocals also have the trancy stuff going on with echoing which brings out more from them. Great song and to me a whole lot better than Wake Up!

10 out of 10 <P>

Track 07 - Karen - I Know What You Like

It’s been stated but it’s worth saying again. Karen’s vocals are some of the best in Eurobeat. This CD has a very pop and easy going feeling, even with the energetic Big In The Night. All of the songs are very crisp and clean and Karen’s song is no exception. I love how nicely this song comes off. Very very awesome.

10 out of 10 <P>

Track 08 - David "Off" – Imagination

Very weird and different intro and for a second there it almost sounds like Million Dollars by Maxx Ducati. There has only been one song really by the alias David “Off” that really struck a chord with me and that was Deep Desire. While this song isn’t horrible, it again suffers from the typical stuff that we’ve heard before from Delta. The intro is very creative though and the guitars are nice to listen to.

Track 09 - Ace Warrior - Fire On The Beat

Here we go! The much anticipated return of Ace Warrior! I absolutely find his vocals to be amazing. Here again, the softness of the album (which seems to be the theme of the CD) shows off some nice vocals, great guitar work and smooth synths. Has a similar style to King Of The Nightmares. Ms. Gatti actually worked on the lyrics for this song (for Nine ^_^) and of course, I had to mention this… GUITAR SOLO! It actually pulls you into the end of the song which is usually what is ignored by many people. Great song! Welcome back!

10 out of 10 <P>

Track 10 - Rose - It's Fine

The beginning of the song made me want to like this song a lot more. Usually Time knows how to draw people in with their song intros. The soft style and singing that we’re used to by her joins the theme of the CD pretty nicely. Does it blow you away? Probably not but it’s not horrible at all. The electric disco guitars are nicely used here but it really does sound like a lot of Time songs I’ve heard before.

8 out of 10 <S>

Track 11 - Donna - In The Name Of Loving

This was a song I had my eye on. Though I was shocked when I heard Clara yet again. She has soooooooooooo many names lol… Anyway. This song is much better than the Vicky Vale song but it’s really nothing new. It’s almost like a montage of previous Clara Moroni songs. The beat is very nice and the keys are smooth and the singing is strong. Just no real originality is what makes this song not that memorable.

8 out of 10 <S>

Track 12 - Luna - Your Love Is Magic

Great great song by Vibration! Of course naturally I was looking forward to this song big time as I’m a fan of their stuff. Luna’s voice has changed a bit from previous songs. Vibration has changed their keys slightly for this song which makes it a cool and gives it a spacey feel. I love her voice and it slightly reminds me of Regina. Excellent feeling and excellent lyrics!

10 out of 10 <P>

Track 13 - The Girls - Hold Back The Fire

By far, my favorite Delta song by the females on this CD. It’s really really well done with the singing handled nicely. The beat is strong and the synths are nice to listen to. In feeling, if you’ve heard All The Love Of My Heart, its sorta like a faster, more synth oriented version of that. Its really nice to listen to!

9 out of 10 <G>

Track 14 - Martina Dry - I Belong To You

I was slightly disappointed when I heard this song. When it comes to the female side of things with HI-NRG Attack, I was really hoping for a return to some of their stuff on Euromach where it was slower and the females really sung nicely. Kinda like Come On In Tokyo by HRG United. This song almost sounds like a kid song lol… I wish though that HI-NRG Attack didn’t make this song so silly sounding and focus on a more melodic feeling kinda like Rick Castle. It really sounds like almost any other HI-NRG Attack song without any real new quirks…

Track 15 – Jock-Lee - Sexy Guy

They love wrenching those keys in this song! I’m so impressed by Time on this CD! They actually have me standing up and dancing! This is what I’ve been waiting for so long from Time. The songs they’re putting out now really are showing what they are capable of. The singing is strong. But that key work that seems to skip on itself is whats drawing me to this song. It’s so nice to see some innovation in the key work. Great great strong song.

10 out of 10 <P>

Track 16 - Pamsy & Ace - 2Love, 4Love

Definitely one of the most expected songs on the CD. Anything with Pamsy (this is Pamsy’s 6th song in SEB) has gotten a 10 and Ace is the same way. To hear this song, Pamsy definitely takes the bulk of the singing and Ace is sorta muted in the back. It’s not bad but anyone who’s a fan of Ace realizes he’s just there for backup. The music is intense and the shocking part of this song for me is the guitar solo that comes out! Very cool sounding very emotional and great singing all around.

10 out of 10 <P>

Track 17 - Mickey B. - Snowgame Fighters

Really not what I expected. I was absolutely floored by the style that Mickey B. has here! The guitars floored me big time as it seems to capture more of a Jpop and Cyber Trance feel. It almost doesn’t sound like Eurobeat! The rapping by Mickey B. is jawdropping especially when she says “bro” lol… One of the most innovative songs I’ve heard in quite a while. SNOWGAME FIGHTERS!

10 out of 10 <P>

Track 18 - Eurofunk - DJ Is Playing My Song

Fast disco. Just tell yourself that as you listen to this song. It’s actually not that bad at all. I’m not sure who exactly the singer is here but it doesn’t sound like any of Delta’s singers. Great key work and the singing is pretty strong too. Not much to say here other than I was listening to this song several times! The end killed me lol. You'll have to hear it to understand!

Wow! You're just too generous with your reviews Jion :P Though... it's quite funny, the song you gave one of the lowest scores to is one I would give one of the highest too. I <3 Vicky Vale's song. How can you not give "I can't forget the time I touched you there, the pussycat cried loud meeeoowww~" 10 out of 10?? XD

Finally got my cd as well... The first reaction was kinda neutral only a few peaks up (Kiki & Fancy & Mickey B.) But by time the album got a whole lot better. But still I'm not that thrilled about the album, general good I guess.

I really liked a whole lot of the songs on 156. I really felt that I got the best bang for the buck with this one. Vicky Vale's song however to me wasn't all too thrilling. Though the meow was funny lol. But I felt that that song for the most part followed a very similar pattern to a lot of Delta's songs throughout the 140s & 150s era. I loved the smoothness of a great deal of the songs on the album. Even Kiki & Fancy and Pamsy & Ace's songs were extremely smooth than the sharpness that we're used to from them. Lilibeth is another song that follows that trend too. I felt that this is the best CD in the 150s era. I'd rank them like this.

Hmm. Interesting.
In my opinion the first place is for 152, the second is for 153.
I don't like so much the last two SEB.
Should I go to doctor?

Even though I got 156 already, I refuse to remove it from the plastic yet.
Just a question, Is the Eurofunk song as off-Eurobeat track as Queen 26?
If so, where are the hoarding legions of Fast Super Eurobeat fans who will boycott the singer?

Is it me or is the odd number eurobeats more appealing to old fans with fast and catchy songs and the even numbers get all the B sides and odd singers?

example :-
151, 153, 155 - Lolitas, Nuages, Ace, Digital Planet
152, 154, 156 - Stylophone, Delta Queen, Rose, The Girls,

orochi - Actually, the Eurofunk track is pretty good. It's definately Eurobeat... but I know I've heard the song before - so it might be a cover. I'm not sure of that though, I'm just guessing it is a cover because it sounds familiar. ^^;

Hi Nine,
Being the psycho that I am, I only allowed myself to listen to the 1st 2 songs. New rule : 2 songs every 2 days. So Eurofunk will still be the last last one. Hope it is as good as all the reviews had been.

So far, the Wild Reputation remake is neutral . The very noticable 3 notes in the original G F# D in the front bridge is barely noticable. But the song gets a new level of energy to it with the new rework.

For Shine Forever, redtarzanboi nailed it. It has Lucya's Beautiful trancy sounds in it. Being the ultimate fan of Lucya's song, this song is a very close second to being my top favorite of 150s. It is very uplifting and you can feel yourself flying. That guitar section made me want to cry, it is so damn good. I can picture an acapella version of this song accompanied ONLY with that guitar. Please SCP Please SCP please SCP!!!
And more of these types of songs!!! :D

OK, my crazy obsessive ranting has ended.
