Super Eurobeat 90-99 oddity

Post by Bonkers » 02 Apr 2016, 02:39

So, it seems this was an odd year of releases since there was no "Best of non-stop 1999" If you had to create a 25 track Best of 1999, what would your tracklist look like? I'm currently in process of collecting these additions, so I can't really create one, but just wanted people's thoughts.

*I'm counting Vol 91 & 92 in this*

Hmm ... thank goodness 91 and 92 is included. 25 is rather difficult considering most of the Time tracks during the 90s well, yeah ... didn't like them. That said, the other 2 labels were really good during the 90's so they kinda saved the day here.

SEB 91 picks:
Bad News / Mega NRG Man
Superdance / Vicky Vale
1 For The Money 2 For The Show / Niko
Baby Baby / Mr Groove

SEB 92 Picks:
Big In Japan / Robert Patton
Juliet / Za-Za
Saturday Night Fever / Dave Rodgers

SEB 94 Picks:
None

SEB 95 Picks:
Relax / Derreck Simons
Wind Of Change / Kelly Wright
I Need You / Mr Groove
Woa Woa Woa / Domino feat Jennifer Batten

SEB 97 Picks:
Welcome To The Music / Mega NRG Man
My Rock Is For Japan / Edo Boys
Never Alone / Mickey B
Memories / Sara
Make My Day / Derreck Simons

SEB 98 Picks:
Dancing Everybody / Mega NRG Man
I'm A Superstar / Derreck Simons
Still Love You All / Morris & Cherry
Play With The Numbers / Domino

SEB 99 Picks:
New Millenium / Go Go Girls
100 / Dave Rodgers
Excitable / Mako
Back To The Night / Kelly Wright
Superhero / Mega NRG Man

91 - 4 tracks

93 - 1 track
94 - 4 tracks
95 - 4 tracks
96 - 1 track
97 - 2 tracks
98 - 3 tracks
99 - 2 tracks

Hmm didn't pay attention the amounts, but after calculating them the albums are pretty evenly divided. Although I highly prefer SEBs 94 and 95 from this decade. But all in all, the 90s were a frigging awesome decade in SEB history. Especially Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Never Alone, Take My Soul, Shy Gun, Go Godzilla Go and Love Generation stand out as tracks I would place in the eurobeat hall of fame this instant. One of my biggest puzzlements to this date is how Never Alone wasn't featured on more than 1 album.

And why was there another Mickey B "Never Alone" title, but it was completely different song (from the Winnie the Pooh album)...? I'll never know. Both Never Alones are great!

gonna go to the database to refresh my memory. No particular order, but I prefer different label following each round. Like TIME-AbeatC-Delta ABeatC , TIME, Delta, etc... This shows the real talent of mixing. From 42 initial songs i sliced it to 25. It was pretty hard to let go of some great songs. I had to get rid of TIME favs in order to keep a variety of labels. ABeatC wasn't a fav of mine during that TIME. BTW, after all these years, I can say I have all those songs in extended format and they sound even better.
