Super Eurobeat Vol. 244
Re: Super Eurobeat Vol. 244
Mini review in descending order of liking, overall a pretty "meh" album.
Top 3:
Turn Me On / Ace - [Not "New Dirty Road" but still an enjoyable song from Christian nonetheless]
Don't Wanna Love You Tonight / Dream Fighters [Dima 101, you either love it or hate it, the chorus 5/5 this song for me}
Tiger Mask / Nick Festari - [The most infectious song on this album hands down. Guitars, SUPERB chorus + the ending extending into the riff was pure genius. Still can't believe it is actually a Festari song, probably one of my least liked vocalist of eurobeat but credit be given where it is due, he did great this time)
Middle & HM:
Jump Into The Yellow / Ana & LOL
Rockin' On The Highway / Lou Master
Give A Stop To Mind Burnout / Pinky [Is this Aleky on vocals?]
Gallop / Chai & Roberta
King Of The Road / Domino & Kaioh
A Bit Of Eurobeat / Manuel
You Spend My Money Round / Lilly
Unforgettable Unbelievable / Bliss
Time Goes By / Stephy
Bottom 3:
Put An Arrow / Black Eva
The Spirit Of The Night / Deemo
Gimme Some Lovin / Louise [Seriously, this year's HRG female tracks are all underwhelming, can we get the dynamism of 230's back?)

Those 230 female HRG tracks all had the same vocal patterns and same B-melo. I'm glad they're becoming more energetic and rough, and especially the return of the older female vocalists has been a great addition to the 240s.

Aishu is typically a slower tempo, love themed song. Think Norma tracks.
Re: Super Eurobeat Vol. 244
the b-melo is the part of the verse before the chorus, or sabi.
Take Cover Girl for example:
I'm a bad girl with an attitude
Play the game always an habitude
Pattie Boyd into my inspirations
Hi quotation get me paid for
Legendary 1960's supermodel trendy
That is my vocation
Emulation, palpitation
Hard to get drinking just champagne
Cover girl me hollywood babe
Super star on magazines, daily
Body talks if you not believe it
Close your eyes, i show you what my mama gave me
the italics is the B-Melo

I don't know why, but I keep hearing "Annerley Gordon" vibes in BLISS - UNFORGETTABLE UNBELIEVABLE when she sings "Stuck my eyes on you" especially on the way she finishes singing "you".

Another one where I hear her is PIMKY - GIVE A STOP TO MIND BURNOUTS. Not so much in the chorus though... But aside from that, it sounds like 2 vocalists singing in other parts of the song. The backround vocalist sounds similar to Annerley Gordon.

I usually attribute aishu to old school Delta, Norma, Helena, etc. However, there was a male aishu mix that came out with tracks from Casanova and the like.

It's very hard to put into words but I just think the 230's female Hi-NRG has all around better melodies. The ones on 240's are just so generic. As I say, compare for example "Girl In The Night" or "Little Girls Cannot Be Wrong" vs every song they put out in 240's and see.

Re: Super Eurobeat Vol. 244
Think of back in the day when they had to churn out 4-5 songs a month!
Re: Super Eurobeat Vol. 244
One thing here though, all of those artists pretty much are not dependent on a CD series for their outlet. All of those artists also DJ at clubs and huge festivals, not one eurobeat artist DJs (and before anyone says, "Well, eurobeat isn't popular in Italy), any EDM genre can be popular anywhere.xiao wrote: ↑03 Sep 2017, 21:23 I've been thinking .. regular mainstream EDM artists like Calvin Harris, Dave Guetta, Zedd, Skrillz, deadmau5, Daft Punk, etc etc .. don't have the constant pressure of releasing a song or two every 2 months. They argue, the song will be ready when it's ready, and the label/publishing company concedes. ♩
Usually, those artists hold their own label, or are in co-ownership or partnership with owners of a label which is based on mp3 sales, so they can release a track whenever they want because they are not tied to a single platform for exposure. Those artists are also huge, well established names in the EDM world, so any commercial product (CD series) would go throw their money at them to get their hands on an upcoming track no one else has heard.
I will say back in the CD mixes era, those artists were also held accountable to publish tracks in a certain time frame, or they had to complete a DJ mix in a certain time frame. The rush was on to get vinyl sales for labels up, so they were churning out track after track for competition. This is also why so many EDM genres are formula-based, especially the House/Hard House/Trance/Happy Hardcore/UK Hardcore families.
