FLEA Records

8) Hey. Who remembers that awesome Italo label in the early 90's FLEA? You see a lot of Famous Eurobeat names get thier start. For those of you who have some of these 12's you'll recognize the manes :Gelmetti, Pasquinni, Farina, Dall Ora, Fadinger, Crivellente, Falkus, Carina. and you'll also hear famouse vocals of Gianni Corrianni, Claudio Magnani, Gino Caria, Mauro Farina, Giancarlo Pasquinni(Dave Rodgers)some I think even Clara and Elena got thier start too. Here are some aliases.
Mauro Farina= King Kong
Gianni Corrianni= Valentino, Mr. Beat,Nick Kaye, Dave Cole, Michael Dream, Michael J. Hill
Claudio Magnani= Dandy, Bella & Blue, Valentino, Thomas & Shubert
Giancarlo Pasquinni=Coo Coo, Blue Sunbeam, Mr. Beat, King Kong, Venice, Michael Dream, Thomas & Shubert, Bella & Blue
Gino Caria=Coy McCoy, Al Morse,Dandy, Macolm J. Hill,Robot Man,Blue Sunbeam
If you listen to thier Music styles they are the ones they adopted for thier artist names on other labels. ex.
Claudio for Silver
Gino for Dr. Money, Lou Grant, Chester etc...also for EDO, Mike Skanner
Gianni for Danny Kieth, D.J Energy,K.L Jones
Giancarlo for Robert Stone , Patrick Hooly, Mario Ross
Mauro for Mr. Black,Alphatown,Max & Co.

I can pretty well destinguish male vocals, but have little trouble with female. Who recalls if Domio ,Clara, Elena or other famouse females got thier start on this label and who were thier aliases.

Yes Elena Gobbi got her start here as "Barbara" and sang "Luv Luv Luv."

Also Annerley Gordon got her start here! She sang as "Tiffany Jones" and is was an AMAZING song called "Make Me Look in the Mirror." Very similar to "Donna" and "Sexy Boy Sexy Toy" but much better in my opinion.

It was also the place where King Kong and D'Jungle Girls had that famous DDR song "Boom Boom Dollar" and other songs!

Yay, so many DDR classics in here (Boom Boom Dollar, Walkie Talkie, Upside Down (Coo Coo)) - most were from King Kong & D.Jungle Girls, but I love the quasi-80s Eurobeat sound that those tracks have. Like Stock Aitken & Waterman on Speed! :D

It's indeed a label filled with lots of different producers and male and female vocals we do know now in the Eurobeat scene.
Don't forget Fabrizio Rizzolo. Roby Arduini & Puntilo (Boy track).
And Stefano Castagna (last FLEA work together with Pasquini).
About Giancarlo Pasquini, he did the mixing work on the first Dandy track.
Good reminders of this label for me are: Elena Gobbi as Giorgia Morandi - Jump for joy (typical Oliva/Caria material). Or the first Ceasar's Dancers track. And Tatjana (Dutch nude model), Laurent did she sung? Or Clara did helped her a little? :D
And Ross (Canadion lady?!), I remember her first track on BMS. Very fast Italo track (the Eurobeat term was not even invented at that time). Do you this one Laurent! Great song from Bastoni, Melotti and Salvatori.
And Chip Chip? Did this group orginally came from Munich.
For the fans, I did found the total cataloque on the IVENTI labelmania page. Check it out (I added some remarks to it):

If I recall:
Domino: Linda Martin - Stay.
Domino: Bella Model - Don't touch me.

By the way I did found 'Felix the fox' and 'Frankie Lee' on back side of the sleeves of certain Flea's always interresting.
Quess it was the nick name of Pasquini & Oliva during the time the studio was in the cellar downtown of Mantova. Also known as the Harlequin studio of Memory Records

Albert O'ryan - So Real = Marcello Catalano & Fred Ventura duet (iirc)
Mandy Gordon - Tokyo Night = Manuela Gubinelli (she sung on most of Dall'Ora female productions)

But I wouldn't say all those people started at Flea 8). At least these people worked for TIME records before FLEA was even established:

Farina/Crivellente (vocals, productions)
Gino Caria (Sandy Bee)
Clara Moroni (Gipsy & Queen)
Giancarlo Pasquini (Aleph)...

and even before Time some of them were already active on for example Memory Records back in 1984: Gino Caria, Sandro Oliva, Gianni Corraini.

But FLEA probably did start the cooperation between Farina/Crivellente/Fadinger... Florian Fadinger is "Flo" for short, translated to "Flea" in english.

Speaking of Elena Gobbi, anyone who remembers Miss Sage - Infatuation (Memory Records 1989) or Barbara - Ciao Boys (Asia Records 1988)?

Anyway, Flea was a great label bringing back lots of good memories

Yes I have the Infatuation song - it's a good one but not as great as the "Jump for Joy" one :-)

Miss Sage was released togehter with the last Memory Record tracks.
Angel - Angel (sung by Giancarlo Pasquini), Alan Ross - Ciao (written by Fabrizio).
As a matter of fact this was the start of ABEATC ........
Rizzolo, Oliva, Caria, Gobbi, Domino, Pasquini etc. started in the Harlequin studio (ex Memory) in the centre of Mantova. During the FLEA period Pasquini had a room down there called the Domino studio.
Later the orginal plan was to build a new studio in de basement of Pasquini's house. Due to building construction it was not possible, there the created the Rodgers studio a little bit futher away.
And Barbara - Ciao boys is fantastic. What about Feminucci, also on Asia. Great!

Adios,

Ronald.

I thought 'Wild Love' was done by Max Coveri. Who's behind that name is for me still unkown. The same vocals do appear on productions released on WORLD ENERGY (or something like that). Productions created by Laurent and Clara.
Sandy Bee 'Coke & Rum' is from the early days of TIME. Like Tommy K. 'Speedy life'. At that time Mauro did a lot of vocal work. But I'm not sure he's done this first Sandy Bee. He did by the way the first Mike Hammer!!

If you look at TIME's catalogue, Everytime Mike Hammer released a song Sandy Bee would follow, hence both vocals were Fernando. That is starting with "Shock Me" - Mike Hammer and "Wild Love"- Sandy Bee
