Digital Copy of Maharaja Sampler Disks?

Post by perobscurus » 28 Feb 2025, 06:22

For those who don't know, Maharaja is a legendary chain of disco clubs in Japan where Eurobeat was played. DJs there had many iconic sound effects that they'd play in their sets, notably "Hwa!", "Hey DJ!", "1 2 3 4 5 6 Do It", etc. If you listen to Touhou eurobeat or old skool eurobeat mixes they might sound familiar to you. These sound effects were stored on floppy disks, which were copied and shared amongst the DJs of the time. Unfortunately, after days of searching, it seems impossible to find audio files or a disk image of one of these floppies. There are many Eurobeat DJs on youtube who use the sounds, but they all seem to use actual floppies with a sampler machine. Does anyone have any clue if a digital copy exists? It's been driving me crazy ><

For further reference is the best example I could find:

There actually is 2 discs with Maharaja sound effects on Yahoo Auctions, I've been tempted to grab both to see if they're the real deal and contain everything used at the time. 8000 yen seems like a big purchase for a potential scam :?

I'll post an update and maybe some way to share the files if permitted :)
