I personally am...

As long as there are at least a few new songs and the older songs that they use are good I am not going to complain.

I think it's a good change for a while.

Also, I'm sure we'll see these songs in full eventually.

I wrote a long message to Newfield - I know some people here have contacts with other labels. It's time we just wrote to them and told them (POLITELY) that we're upset about what's happening to SEB, and Eurobeat in general.

Why didn't you send it to me first? Newfield doesn't understand English very well... he prefers French and you know, I speak French since I'm quebecese.

Too bad, it's too late

I know Sinclaire gets a bit frustrated with 7A...
He didn't understand why it was gonna be a nonstop when they specifically asked for the Niko track to be over 5 minutes long.

It's on his FB wall. You can always translate it if you really want.

On 2nd thoughts, Maybe a non-stop wouldn't be so bad after all, More ringtone options for my phone. 8)
And you can't make ringtones from full versions??? :???:
Indeed I can't, Full versions of new songs like "Fire Dragon" hasn't been released.

Seriously though, I am okay with a non-stop until SEB ... 201 ?

Also, I am probably alone on this one but I found the "Fire Dragon" title to be rather amusing.
The point I was trying to make was that you can easily edit an mp3 into a bite-sized ringtone from the full version. I wasn't saying that these tracks are already available elsewhere...

I wouldn't mind having the CD as a non-stop if there was still an easily accessible download method for us, but as I don't have a Japanese credit card and I really can't afford to pay for Japanese iTunes cards to get questionable quality DRM protected files, I remain p***ed by this development.

And if what Javy says is true, it just proves that those in charge at Avex are COMPLETELY out of touch with what today's Eurobeat fans want.

As someone put it to me....
Avex is on their own little planet.

Forget just Eurobeat fans - I half wonder if this is retrospective of their behaviour towards all genres of music. It borders on xenophobic, cutting off your export market for no apparent reason. What, do they think we're more trouble than we're worth?

Alright, the export argument technically is outside the scope of SEB 197 - you're free to import the CD, as always. Only, why would you want to unless you're dead keen on megamixes?

Avex CLEARLY wants the extended-loving crowd to purchase online instead. But, oh wait, we can't!

They are that afraid of piracy from China/Korea is what I am told.

Friends have told me Japan is known to be xenophobic, so this could be them showing it lol. Avex being disconnected from their fanbase reminds me of another Japanese company (read: Square Enix).

The funny thing is, in all the time I've spent collecting Eurobeat, the only pirate discs I've seen have been of the Initial D albums. The China/Korea pirate market doesn't seem to care about the mainstream SEB albums. To be fair, why should they? The sales are nowhere near high enough for them to both pirating it when so few people would ever buy it.

So they cut off the US and Europe? Yep, that makes sense... :???:

Don't they realise that making the music less accessible is only going to increase the likelihood of piracy? It may even lead to some unscrumpulous people trying to sell on DRM protected files obtained from genuine outlets.

I don't know - I just despair at the insular attitudes on display here. It makes me worried about travelling to Japan in May - are they going to be as xenophobic when I try to buy a CD in Tower Records?

After what the US has done to Japan in the 40's, I'd be xenophobic too. But, that's not a reason to close everything to the western audience. They'll lose their fans oversea. This way, their fear of piracy will only grow because they actually helping it.
