Super Eurobeat Vol. 172 & SEB Presents SEF Gold
Okay then....
The songs I really liked on this album and stuck-out to me were;
Manuel - "Countdown To Destination" ::
I thought it sounded like a lot of songs done before, but really, it has a unique sound all at the same time that's attracive to the ear. To me, one of Manuel's best so far. Great song.
Pamsy - "Once Upon A Time" ::
Typical Pamsy, only much better. I don't think I've heard a song by her yet I don't like, really. Another great addition to her collection, only, next to "Livin' In The Night", her best.
Stephy Martini - Mad Desire ::
This song is great, no doubt. When I saw the name initially I thought of a ballad that would be slow and have a decent melody. Ballad none the less, but extremely energetic. Great and catchy song.

SEB 172 Review by LightSol
~ LightSol’s Grading Key ~ ~ no pluses, no minuses, no frills ~
5 = love it and will play again and again without tire
4 = really like it and am always happy to hear it
3 = enjoy hearing it and it’s good all around but not a favorite
2 = kinda annoys or disappoints me; I may skip it sometimes
1 = one that I’ll skip a lot or I just don’t get or relate to
FIRST OFF, THANKS TO ALL THOSE WHO CREATE EUROBEAT!
SUPER EUROBEAT VOLUME 172
1. Once Upon a Time - Pamsy
great intro and amazing bassline and bass sound. The snare took getting used to but worked in the texture. Pamsy has a nice voice! Great choice to start the album.
SCORE: 5
2. Go Racin' Go - Fastway
Well I'm not really into these fast songs... they kill me when I try to work out to them. But wow it is quite energetic as usual, but doesn't really stand out as new per se.
SCORE: 3
3. Mad Desire - Stephy Martini
Energetic and dramatic. I like this one a lot! Sounds a bit like Karen at times.
SCORE: 4
4. One Night in Tokyo - Alexis
Hmm I warmed up to it. It's a little average but reminds me of some older eurobeat tracks in the early part of this century. I liked that aspect. Nostalgia. I think I'm also taken back to the song "Para Para," which I may add is my favorite eurobeat song probably.
SCORE: 3 REVISED: 4 (Elena won me over again...)
5. Gimme Gimme Gimme - Vivi
The voice is fine and dandy but wow the song is soooo repetitous. Blah.
SCORE: 2
6. Don't Stop the Music 2006 - Lou Grant
Hmm there's nothing wrong with it per se but it's not really making the original greater nor does it stand out alone to me. But I like it!
SCORE: 3
7. I Wanna Give You My Heart - Dave & Meri
Well hmm the accents of Dave and Meri go together, which leads to a nice blend. But well the song is nothing super special, except for that new combo.
SCORE: 3
8. Baby Call Me Frankenstein - Jungle Bill
I just love so much from this team. This one was for Halloween, I'm sure, even more than the other spooky ones. But it just didn't stand out.
SCORE: 3
9. Countdown to Destination - Manuel
I am liking Manuel a lot. but the song is very typical and nothing new.
SCORE: 3
10. Dark and Bright - Nando
Weird techno intro. The voice is not so wonderful in this song. Nope, just not my personal favorite.
SCORE: 2
11. Every Night - Paul Harris
"Tweest and Shout" indeed. Argh sometimes the accents really get to me. Well it's a fun and unique song for sure but doesn't rise above the dozens of favoritres I have.
SCORE: 3
12. Back Devil - Ray Sun
Very nice voice. Oh the chords and accents moving with the verses are amazing. The instrumental sections are also stellar. The chorus is only great but not amazing to me. But this is a great song and sung very well for sure. Actually I really enjoy this new voice...
SCORE: 4 REVISED: 5
13. Keep on Loving You - Queen 26
Nothing really stuck out to me for better or worse.
SCORE: 3
14. Love Shining - Kasanova
Very typical but also so lovely. The voice matches the synths perfectly.
SCORE: 4 REVISED: 5 (What can I say? He is Kasanova!)
15. Parapara Girl - Barbie
The vocals are not in your face enough - rather buried. Does not live up to the old classics about this topic.
SCORE: 3
16. Get a Boom - Martina Dry
Hmm well I am more fond of the male stuff from this particular label. But the energy saves it from a 2.
SCORE: 3
17. Getting the Fever - Lisa and Ace
Lisa is really only singing background, it seems. I like all these new duets from the labels. But the words didn't interest me at all in this song. When I think of Fever, I think of Domino's first song
SCORE: 3
18. Promised Land - Annalise
Oh the intro is so rare and new and acoustic and lovely. At the start of the singing, Annerley's vocals are a bit muddled with the guitar or synth effects. The prechorus is my favorite part of the song. This song does sound more like Annerley's pop than eurobeat at times, and I don't mind at all.
SCORE: 4
Favorites: Once Upon a Time, Black Devil, Love Shining
Least Favorites: Gimme Gimme Gimme, Dark and Bright
AVERAGE SCORE: 61 Points / 18 Tracks = 3.39/5.00
The cover is much nicer than 171.
I must say I liked 171 a little better though... more variety. More risks.
But there aren't any awful songs on here.
There are indeed some I really loved.
And as long as Annerley is there, I'm happy!
And it's a good album, for sure!!!
Where are Clara and Karen?
Thank you to all the great artists and producers

I received 172 and SEF GOLD this weekend and I am in love with the first half of 172. Tracks 1-9 are great (with the exception of Jungle Bill) and SEF GOLD is delicious. I'm so happy that 171 wasn't a definite indication of where things are headed.
One Night in Tokyo and Countdown to Destination are my fave tracks on this album

SEB 172 is definately a winner for me! Pamsy and Ray Sun are the great hero's of this album. I just can't get enough of their powerful, yet subtile and easy songs.
I'm on the Road Again - Powerful T.

Great cd! I also got my 171 this weekend. Let's get right to it.
1. Pamsy- Once upon a Time
I have to say that her first songs all but bored me silly, but recently her songs have really gotten better. This newest really is closest to Eurobeat in speed and style, especially since she has kinda ditched that somewhat "Transy" sound for more Energy style. Way to go Pamsy!
7/10
2. Fastway- Go Racin Go
I like Fastway ever since "Number One" His vocals really fit Eurobeat withour feeling forced by the speed of the song. It amazes me how SCP seems to rehash his same sounding song time after time, but that is exactly what I like 'bout this Fastway.
8/10
3. Stephy Martini- Mad Desire
Even though Clara does not aopear on this cd, I'm really diggin Stephania's sound. This is the DELTA I love. Energetic and powerful.
9/10
4. Alexis- One Night In Tokyo
TIME! here is what I'm taking about. Mix your usual Accoustic synths with some Powerful ones and you got this mega treat from TIME. Plus I love songs with Toky reference in them. Think Tension- Lost In Tokyo or Atrium- Tokyo Guys. SWEET!
10/10
5. Vivi- Gimmi Gimmi
Unlike most fans, I perfer "Live For Me" This one a bit to "Happy" for me. I'll liten to it without skipping, but my least fav SCP on this cd-
6+/10
6. Lou Grant- Don't Stop The Music 2006
Like I said earlier, Eurobeat does not need a remake so soon. Maybe in 10 years. The original's power has somewhat dissapeared between the newly rehashed synths. Still it's nice to hear David Di Marcantonio's vocals again.
8-/10
7. Dave & Meri- I Wanna Give You My Heart
I just don't like this one too much. Dave takes a backseat in the chorus and I do not like that. Meri has not been one of my fav and those synths sound very annoying to the Dr. Sorry AbeatC , Try agin.
5/10
8. Jungle Bill- Baby Call Me Frankenstien
Call me Frankenstien, Frankenstien, That's my name!It happened again. My fav on this cd. Even better than TIME this TIME. This song just seems to drool of an old Italo melody in the chorus that sounds so good that it is scarey! The Verses and bridge are equally fitting to each other in Chaotic harmony. I think Federico easily becomming one of my fav voaclists these days. Catchy Catchy catchy!!
10+/10
9. Manuel- Countdown To Destination
I think AbeatC misses D-Essex too much. Practically the same style Bratt Sinclaire used in D-Essex's songs in mid 90's. Not a bad song, but nothing new either. I'll take "Sun In The Rain" any day over this one.
7-/10
10. Nando- Dark & Bright
Originally I thought this was great at listening to preview, but now goes down some notches. The best part are nando vocals, but the intro sounds wierd and transition from verses to bridge to chorus sounds kinda forced. Also the beat from chorus and main melody does not seem to change..and that sounds kinds weak. I wish Newfield writes another "Heartbreaker" for Nando soon Maybe in TIME I will like more.
7/10
11. Paul Harris- Evert Night
Wow! This one really works for me. Best Paul Harris song to date. I really melt when I hear old Italo melodies! Love every thing 'bout this song. I can't get over that melody. This one should be given to Nando. lately AKYR songs written for DELTa sound better, right?
10/10
12. Ray Sun- Black Devil
Best Pasquinni impression I have heard. ABeatC really blows me away with this hit! Same old rehash Dave melody, but what Power. This is AbeatC I love. Hope to hear more Ray songs soon!
10/10
13. Queen 26- Keep On Loving You
This group keeps getting better with every song. Reminds to of older Delta Queen songs. The synths are really fast , but soothing to my ears because of crisp sounds. I wish Clara have sung this.
8+/10
14. Kassanova- Love Shining
TIME does it again! Gambogi rulez and everytime he sings in Kassanova style, his song gets better. Remeber "Passion & Love" Times have changed. More power to Kassanova songs and the synths have a sort of "Idol" feel to them. I can't give this sound a good discriptive word(like Chaotic for HRG), but I kinda get a meloncholic, and energetic feel at the same TIME. Call it Melergetic!
10+/10
15. Barbie- Para para Girl
I love this intro too much1 You know you are getting a fast TIME song withen the first beats. Very different for TIME female songs now a days. Maybe they are getting us in gear for "Doctor Doctor 2006" Iether way they sure discovered the "Sexy Medicine Potion" for this new Barbie. I really hope Time stays true to her sound on future hits.
10/10
16. Martina Dry- Get A Boom
HRG RULEZ! Are you guys at LIVE studio reading this? keep up to great work. This one gives me a "Boom Boom Sexy Lady" feel. very familiar melody going on here. A formula HRG has mastered extremely well. Great vocals , Rythm and bass. AVex should give you guys more cd space.
9/10
17. Lisa & Ace- Getting The Fever
O.k I admit I'm very much liking CSP more and more now a days Even thier duets sound good now. It must be the basic Italo rythm that they use in thier songs that I love so much. Lisa sounds somewhat less powerful in this song than in her Lisa Lion ones, but ACE makes up for that with his energetic vocals. This really is a good song!
9-/10
18. Annalise- Promised Land
Not the way I would have ended this cd. A nice song really , but as far as ABeatC material, I know they can do much Much better! This one has a nice intro which I like and the fact that it reminds me a lot of Mel Rose's "Burning Highway" brings the song a level higher. I think AVEX should have ended with Ray Sun. At least I would be sweating from dancing.
7+/10
Final words:
This cd is somewhat amazing to me. The new artist like Barbie and Ray Sun really pull through with strong debutes. I feel the best songs are spread throughout cd and that keeps my interest high. I'm really impressed how AVEX keeps the power consistant from track eleven 11 through 17. My congrats to HRG for Jungle Bill and Martina Dry and just like SEB 169, the songs are spectacular! TIME makes another killing with 3 awesome entries , but I have mix feeling for Lou Grant make. The rest of the labels did really well too. I'll say it again. AVEX bring back Saifam!
Overall a great addition to my collection.
9+/10

Completely agree on this one, OK! All Right!'s been one of my favorites for ages now. Had to buy SEB39 specifically for the song as it wasn't technically all that awesome otherwise. And also agree that A-Beat C needs a kick to get some of their former glory back.para_rigby wrote: Now...I'm a big fan of Annalise's older songs from the past and "Say Yeah", but it's if this label is 'labeling' her as the ballad woman for Eurobeat. Two words for A-BEAT C: "Ok! Alright"...that's the sort of sound I'd like to hear from her.
