FIRST OFF, THANKS TO ALL THOSE WHO CREATE EUROBEAT!
SUPER EUROBEAT VOLUME 172
1. Once Upon a Time - Pamsy
great intro and amazing bassline and bass sound. The snare took getting used to but worked in the texture. Pamsy has a nice voice! Great choice to start the album.
SCORE: 5
2. Go Racin' Go - Fastway
Well I'm not really into these fast songs... they kill me when I try to work out to them. But wow it is quite energetic as usual, but doesn't really stand out as new per se.
SCORE: 3
3. Mad Desire - Stephy Martini
Energetic and dramatic. I like this one a lot! Sounds a bit like Karen at times.
SCORE: 4
4. One Night in Tokyo - Alexis
Hmm I warmed up to it. It's a little average but reminds me of some older eurobeat tracks in the early part of this century. I liked that aspect. Nostalgia. I think I'm also taken back to the song "Para Para," which I may add is my favorite eurobeat song probably.
SCORE: 3 REVISED: 4 (Elena won me over again...)
5. Gimme Gimme Gimme - Vivi
The voice is fine and dandy but wow the song is soooo repetitous. Blah.
SCORE: 2
6. Don't Stop the Music 2006 - Lou Grant
Hmm there's nothing wrong with it per se but it's not really making the original greater nor does it stand out alone to me. But I like it!
SCORE: 3
7. I Wanna Give You My Heart - Dave & Meri
Well hmm the accents of Dave and Meri go together, which leads to a nice blend. But well the song is nothing super special, except for that new combo.
SCORE: 3
8. Baby Call Me Frankenstein - Jungle Bill
I just love so much from this team. This one was for Halloween, I'm sure, even more than the other spooky ones. But it just didn't stand out.
SCORE: 3
9. Countdown to Destination - Manuel
I am liking Manuel a lot. but the song is very typical and nothing new.
SCORE: 3
10. Dark and Bright - Nando
Weird techno intro. The voice is not so wonderful in this song. Nope, just not my personal favorite.
SCORE: 2
11. Every Night - Paul Harris
"Tweest and Shout" indeed. Argh sometimes the accents really get to me. Well it's a fun and unique song for sure but doesn't rise above the dozens of favoritres I have.
SCORE: 3
12. Back Devil - Ray Sun
Very nice voice. Oh the chords and accents moving with the verses are amazing. The instrumental sections are also stellar. The chorus is only great but not amazing to me. But this is a great song and sung very well for sure. Actually I really enjoy this new voice...
SCORE: 4 REVISED: 5
13. Keep on Loving You - Queen 26
Nothing really stuck out to me for better or worse.
SCORE: 3
14. Love Shining - Kasanova
Very typical but also so lovely. The voice matches the synths perfectly.
SCORE: 4 REVISED: 5 (What can I say? He is Kasanova!)
15. Parapara Girl - Barbie
The vocals are not in your face enough - rather buried. Does not live up to the old classics about this topic.
SCORE: 3
16. Get a Boom - Martina Dry
Hmm well I am more fond of the male stuff from this particular label. But the energy saves it from a 2.
SCORE: 3
17. Getting the Fever - Lisa and Ace
Lisa is really only singing background, it seems. I like all these new duets from the labels. But the words didn't interest me at all in this song. When I think of Fever, I think of Domino's first song

SCORE: 3
18. Promised Land - Annalise
Oh the intro is so rare and new and acoustic and lovely. At the start of the singing, Annerley's vocals are a bit muddled with the guitar or synth effects. The prechorus is my favorite part of the song. This song does sound more like Annerley's pop than eurobeat at times, and I don't mind at all.
SCORE: 4
Favorites: Once Upon a Time, Black Devil, Love Shining
Least Favorites: Gimme Gimme Gimme, Dark and Bright
AVERAGE SCORE: 61 Points / 18 Tracks = 3.39/5.00
The cover is much nicer than 171.
I must say I liked 171 a little better though... more variety. More risks.
But there aren't any awful songs on here.
There are indeed some I really loved.
And as long as Annerley is there, I'm happy!
And it's a good album, for sure!!!
Where are Clara and Karen?
Thank you to all the great artists and producers
For making such amazing music for Eurobeat lovers!
