Just got the CD earlier this afternoon. Here's my overall review for the first disc. It's not as excellent as 179 and 182 were, but it's still pretty good as a whole.
1. THE LOVEBITE / DUSTY: (9)
Go Wild was one of the best SCP tracks of the 170's, so I had my expectations set high for this song. The sample didn't capture my attention, but after hearing the entire song, I'm quite surprised by how solid it turned out. The instruments are strong and lustrous, and Ennio's vocals sound as soulful as ever. Overall an excellent opening track with a lot of depth and spirit, not completely groundbreaking but definitely a lot better after having heard the full version.
2. CRAZY RACE ON THE STREET / GARCON: (9+)
Unlike most people, I love Garcon's music as much as Rimonti's. Hannibal The Cannibal was a disappointment and lacked punch all-around, but this is already a major comeback, not quite up with On The Road Again To The Show, but still very aggressive and fun to listen to. Nick's vocals are for particular tastes, but I think they fit this song quite nicely. Overall this song is exactly the type of material I love from HRG - goofy, energetic, and very quirky. And besides, it's nice to hear more from Garcon after being a little overexposed to Rimonti. Definitely a hit.
3. GOODNIGHT KISS / LOLITA: (9-)
Even though I think Melody Castellari is the real queen of eurobeat instead of Gobbi as Bore thinks, I still have to admit that Elena has improved significantly after having arrived at GGM. This song doesn't make as much of a step forward as the label's other releases so far, but the vocals are excellent and make this song a keeper for anyone with a soft spot for Go Go's or Lolita in general.
4. NIGHT FIGHTER / JACKY 'O: (10-)
This track was an immense surprise to me because I wasn't particularly moved by the vocalist when I first listened to the sample. But overall, as a full cut, I gotta say that it's bound to be a hit. With some of the monotony that Time suffers rather frequently, this is clearly a breath of fresh air, as it's by far one of their most unique and intriguing productions in quite a while. The vocalist sounds like the same person from Dave Simon's Speed Man, and while I do think his voice is a bit rough, the additional edge he lends to the track makes it even catchier. The intro was quite hot, and the transition into a surprisingly danceable ground works perfectly. Here's hoping that Time keeps it up with more productions similar to this!
5. I FEEL EMOTIONS / PAMSY: (9-)
Once Upon A Time was the first song I listened to fully on a Super Eurobeat album, and I was immediately hooked and continued listening to the series in hopes of more releases as full and powerful as it was. Pamsy's releases have been a little toned down throughout her career so far, but I Feel Emotions does what it can to stick out, and overall I think it does a fairly good job of doing so. Overall this track reminds me a bit more along the lines of Hello and So Fragile, with very strong vocals and a fairly memorable chorus. The pace of the song doesn't quite fascinate me as much as Walkin' In The Shadow or Once Upon A Time, but it's at least one of Pamsy's better releases to date. The fadeout was disappointingly abrupt unfortunately.
6. BECAUSE I NEED YOU / RENOIR: (8½)
Well, I guess Avex may as well put more trance eurobeat like Cat's I Will Fly if Super Best Trance material such as this winds up on Super Eurobeat. Guess anything's possible, as neither Laser Light nor A Love At First Sight hailed from Saifam's Asia catalogue. To be honest, I like this genre a lot when it comes to Japan-exclusive dance music, but I still have to admit that it doesn't really fit the compilation. Perhaps this song is just a sign that Delta's continously becoming more and more experimental with their music and simply won't stop? Who knows. Either way, this is a nice, typical electronic production with effective vocals and a good c-melody, but there's definitely better music under this category for fans to get their hands on.
7. ON FIRE 2007 / SUSY TIME: (9+)
Easily the better of the 2 Time remakes on the CD. The frequent appearances of Daniela Galli are quite nice, considering Ms. Ferretti has gotten almost everything under the female category, similar to Clara Moroni's status at Delta. This remake brings some very nices changes to the original track from SEB 52 and makes it an effective, diverse package in the long run. Galli's vocalwork fits perfectly, the melody and instruments are above-average, and overall it sounds fresh and promising enough to beat the 1994 version.
8. I'LL BE WAITING / NORMA SHEFFIELD: (7-)
Not really believing her retirement from eurobeat, I wasn't too surprised when I saw a new Norma Sheffield track on the songlist, although this may have just as easily been recorded long beforehand, at about the same time she did Moonshine or Do You Wanna Fly. Either way, there's nothing horribly bad about I'll Be Waiting, but similar to Norma's other performances, it's really nothing to write home about and isn't interesting enough to be memorable. I guess fans of her style will love this track, but otherwise this song is filler to me and makes me wish Gipsy Baby's Sing could replaced it.
9. YOU KISS MY LOVER / LOUISE: (8 )
Another distinct, dancy performance, much like Night Fighter. Judging by its production and arragement qualities alone, this song is an immediate standout on the CD. Unfortunately, the weak vocalist doesn't keep up with the upbeat nature of the song and doesn't lend much spirit to an otherwise fantastic song. Would've been a definite 10+ had it been sung by Castellari instead (ironically, the girl here sounds quite a bit like her, but unfortunately she lacks the sheer energy that Melody always brought to the table). Still nice to know that Hi-NRG Attack is still more than happy to experiment, though.
10. SAVE YOUR VOICE TO SING A SONG / BRIAN ICE: (9-)
I'm giving a lot of credit to this track, as it's very different and clearly a standout in front of A-Beat C's rather average performances elsewhere on the CD. With the constant exposition of the rest of the label's vocalists, bringing back Brian Ice after having been quiet since 166 is quite a nice change for the time being. This song has an unusually labored feel to it, hence the very low-pitched vocals and rather un-eurobeat-like melody, which causes it to sound mediocre in one sense; however, the instruments are finally quite nice for a change and the track's genuine lyrics and strong spirit nonetheless make for a pretty solid experience actually, and having something that's different is always very nice for a change. A keeper.
11. BAD BOYS / MATT LAND: (6½)
I don't know what's up with Rodgers' studio lately, but somehow everything being put out lately is constantly modest and seemingly lacking punch just to be different, but alas, so far the influences harkening to the ever-popular trance music in Japan work extremely infrequently. Overall, Bad Boys sounds like a great track deep down under, but seriously, its synths need a hell of a lot more punch. It has good lyrics and Matt Land's vocals shine as ever, but as a full package it just bores me. With a bpm increase and a complete synth revamp more similar to Brian Ice's track, this would be awesome, but unfortunately all the potential it posed was clearly not used and ultimately it just doesn't sound like a completed production.
12. SPANISH AFFAIRS / HELENA: (8+)
Well, of course Elena Ferretti's not going to give up eurobeat anytime soon, as we're presented with yet another Helena song. However, for a change we get a more Spanish-influenced production to step out to a slightly more diverse soundworld. This vocalist has a lot of potential - it's just usually not used to the fullest. However, her rich, lush voice seems to marry this song perfectly and proves to be one of her more effective tracks to date. None of Ferretti's performances on 181 impressed much, but I think this is definitely a step in the right direction, even if not her most groundbreaking release ever. I wouldn't mind hearing more music like this from her.
13. KISS ME / ANNALISE: (8- )
Annerly is actually a pretty similar vocalist to Elena Gobbi stylistically with her feisty voice and happy-go-lucky personality, so I think it's perfectly fair that she sticks with A-Beat C while Gobbi puts out all of her songs at GGM instead. For the most part, Annalise's newer releases have been fairly meh, but there have definitely been some standouts, especially the excellent With Your Photograph. Kiss Me is by no means a standout, but it's fairly decent for what it is. The vocals are all-around pleasant and satisfying, the tone of the synths fits it fairly well, and overall the package is pretty nice, even if a bit modest.
14. BIG IN JAPAN 2007 / MR. M: (6-)
If Night Fighter was a original piece of art, Big In Japan 2007 is about as unoriginal with eurobeat as you can get. The entire structure seems to be ripped off from Don't Stop The Music 2006, and despite a few subtle changes, I honestly can't distinguish any major differences between the two songs except that the vocals are rerecorded by Gambogi and not reused from Davide Di Marcantonio's original track. The remake doesn't really bring anything new or exciting to the table and sounds like a rehash of everything the label has already done. The new vocals are not effective, and while the soundworld itself doesn't sound bad at all, the lack of originality and spirit in this production makes it obvious that it was a complete rush job without any real thought put into it. Could've easily been replaced by D1 Grand Prix instead had Avex not dropped Saifam from Super Eurobeat.
15. TELL ME / DAVE & NUAGE: (7½)
Again, much like the Norma Sheffield track, this song has no downright flaws, but it doesn't really have anything special or interesting to make it memorable. The melody and lyrics itself are nice and pleasant, making it effective for the love ballad of a eurobeat song it is, but on a broader scope, it's not really something that I'll be remembering for a very long time, similar to other Dave & Nuage tracks. Better than Like A Video, at least.
16. SEXY CRAZY GIRL / JIMMY DIAMOND: (8+)
Heh, after listening to this song completely, I gotta say it's not actually that bad at all. It still isn't really an enormous hit for me, but the full cut allows me to grasp a lot more out of it than I could from the rather confused sample. The vocalist and overall substance of the track are unique and a step in a pretty nice direction, and even though its elements are a little quiet, the full outcome works very nicely. It needs a bit more energy to be a true hit, but I'm glad that I actually came to like it.
17. BURN INTO THE BEAT / NICK MANSELL: (10)
The second half of the main disc was not the strongest, but here we finally arrive back to the excellent level that was present during the earlier tracks of the compilation. Nick Mansell presents us with a very solid, edged track with melodic similarities to Feel The Power, but at a slower bpm, I can grasp the song's dynamics a bit more assuredly. Overall the song maintains an excellent pace from start to finish, and the additional guitar in the background (performed by Ennio Zanini?) only supports it. A perfect hit from SCP on just about all levels, not quite up with the Go 2 floorfillers from Super Eurobeat 181, but definitely close.
18. TIME FOR A MIRACLE / PAUL DICKENSON: (10-)
This was the track I had the highest expectations for by far. Just by hearing the sample, I was certain that it was going to become the next Chemical Love, and overall I wasn't let down too badly at all. The intro sets the song up perfectly, and the c-melody is just killer. The J. Storm-esque vocalist still doesn't grasp the track as effectively as I would've hoped, but as a whole this song is a very strong performance that will hopefully maintain its replay value and grow on me as I continue listening to it.
FINAL SCORE: (8 )
2007 has been a very good year for eurobeat overall, and the album released to finish it all off keeps up that tradition fairly well. Things got a little shaky towards the middle, but for the most part it still kept up a pretty good level and managed to offer quite a few nice songs, even though there weren't really any major standouts as there were on the past few Super Eurobeat releases. Not the best Avex can put out, but still a nice addition to the series that keeps the solid streak alive.

NOTE: Grades are based on the quality of the remix alone. All 5 tracks are among the best of the recent Super Eurobeat compilations, but do the remixes add something new to the table to improve upon them?
1. BLOOD ON FIRE (Y.&Co Remix): (7+)
Seems as if a lot more could've been done here. This is a nice, clean remix with a good intro buildup, but honestly it doesn't sound very different compared to the original track. The added glitch affects aren't really all that effective, so ultimately this is sort of just a small step up from the 181 version.
2. RED LIGHT & SEX (B4 Za Beat Remix): (6+)
Again, the remix honestly doesn't sound very different from the original track. The only thing that stands out would be the "give me a wave of shock...SHOW!" samples, and even that doesn't really make the track any better. The rest of the tweaks are very insignificant, so it basically feels more like a re-arrangement than an actual remix.
3. VIVA LA NOCHE (New Generation Remix): (9+)
Finally, a good remix! There's no redesigned second as there were for Happy Phantom and Looka Bomba, but the new arrangement is really effective and the changes are quite good for the most part. Retains to the sheer catchiness of the original track and still innovates it enough that it stands out.
4. GAS GAS GAS (DJ Gun Remix): (5)
Unlike the first couple of tracks, which played more like new arrangements than actual remixes, this reworks the original track as much as possible, but unfortunately here it just doesn't work at all. I absolutely adored the original Gas Gas Gas from Super Eurobeat 181, but this version kind of just spoils it. It really made me feel that the original song just wasn't ever meant to be remixed at all. New sounds and tweaks are all over the place, but none of them fit together in any cohension. The remix is dreadfully busy, as if there wasn't really any planning put into it. So overall, I honestly thought that the original song had enough to offer. This is just chaotic to my ears.
5. NRG (9LoveJ Remix): (9)
After the ludicrously overdone Gas Gas Gas remix, NRG is another step in the right direction. Again, it doesn't sound horrendously different from the original song, but it does improve the original song on a few significant levels. The chorus is significantly changed around for the better to stand out more effectively, and the arrangement solidifies the old version without drowning it out. The new tweaks all fit in place pretty nicely, so overall I got to say that this is definitely one of the better remixes on the CD.
FINAL SCORE: (7)
Super Eurobeat 176's remixes were gold. They stood out more than the first disc itself. They brought in a ton of great new ideas to some already-excellent productions and managed to make me enjoy the original songs even more. 183 doesn't live up to this level. 2 of the 5 new remixes add a little more flavor to their respective original songs, but overall nothing really stood out like wow. I was constantly hoping for more for the most part, and even when I did get some new sounds, they tended to hurt the arrangement more than help it. Not as abysmal of a second disc as possible, but seriously, I was rather disappointed.

Yeah, well maybe if you didn't dislike Asia so much, you'd come to like Melody Castellari's hoardes of awesome eurobeat tracks. : P (although Yellow Butterfly and A Love At First Sight were among your favorites from Saifam during the 160's, those being the only 2 songs she sang)Bore wrote:Gobbi IS the queen of eurobeat
Gobbi is alright, but her voice really isn't as effective as other people believe. It's a little quirky to be honest, and not really my cup of tea when it comes to eurobeat vocalists.

Clara has my vote for the Eurobeat Queen for these particular reasons.
1. She was there from the beginning
2. She is a badass rock artist
3. Love her voice and accent
and the most important reason why:
4. She is drop dead SEXY! She really makes my heart skip a beat
You know what I am talking about guys
