The Rich Hard track was one of the "better" songs on the album for me (although I absolutely hated the sample). The song does sound quite hollow and falls flat in some areas, but I guess that's to be expected from a new producer. Futura could be a force to be reckoned with as a producer if she keeps improving.Bore wrote:Futura has done a great job at producing Tell Me Why, it's refreshingly different and while the song itself isn't maybe the strongest one you could hope, the different production values make it memorable.
I don't think it's about her being a new producer or what not (Actually I don't even consider her new anymore). Futura probably intended for the song to be like that since it seems like she prefers the more simple and "empty" soundworlds that may come off as hollow or flat to many (I briefly remembered many saying the same about Give Me Sunshine and I don't think I need to further mention the widely panned I'm Superstar) but if you look back, she's equally capable of handling heavier tunes such as Fire Dragon or Louder & Faster (You may say that it's co-produced with Dave but still, I guess it sorta counts).Jay wrote:The Rich Hard track was one of the "better" songs on the album for me (although I absolutely hated the sample). Anyways, 208 is probably the weakest album of the decade but it's certainly not bad. Jungle Of Fire kicks major ass, Tell Me Why's a great song in all regards and Never Gonna Make is probably the one Asia song I have truly enjoyed in a very long while.
Pretty Woman is perhaps the only song on this album that I can't even reach halfway into, it's way too old school and boring to listen to and I always feel like falling asleep when I listen to it.
I just learned that I like cockslaps to the face. XDBore wrote:The more I listen to it, the more I like Tell Me Why. That and Vivi are my definite picks out of this album. Tell Me Why being my favorite. I kinda like the lighter feel to it, it doesn't come off as something that cockslaps you in the face, like quite a few macho-man songs do.
Fine, Ill stop listening to old Euroflash Tracks and do a review, was planning to do a big review once SEB 209 was released, but I think this album deserves a full one.

Decided to make some sort of blog to stop the clutter and I can easily edit and share it. [/url]

Well there are some songs I like better then what they should really be and vice versa. I dont want to drive up a score of a song just because I really enjoy it and listen to it loads of times just because I like the sound of the synth or something similar, because I find it unfair on some good songs which I dont find that interesting to me but are better, more solid music.
To me, Ive listened to both "The magic of sunshine" and " Hard to say Im sorry" very intensively and I think "Hard to say im sorry" is alot more solid, appealing and enertaining, even if I personally find both the songs to be equally entertaining and played.

I can understand why people find it useful to compare 'Hard to Say I'm Sorry' with 'The Magic of Sunshine' considering they have similar BPMs, but I don't think it helps much since, at the end of the day, they're both very different songs. It's like comparing apples to oranges. HTSIS is far softer and more 'aishu' while TMOS has more edge to it.
As for me, I prefer TMOS much more than HTSIS. I just can't get into HTSIS no matter how hard I try. TMOS, on the other hand, has taken me a while to warm up to but it has grown on me significantly in the past week or so especially. What I love about this song is that it shows slower eurobeat can be just as aggressive and edgy as faster songs.

I completely agree with Jay on this one. Like I said, to catagorize The Magic Of Sunshine as Aishu is a big stretch. I think the Aishu sound is beggining to get it's harder edge back like it had in the 90's and that's a good developement.I can understand why people find it useful to compare 'Hard to Say I'm Sorry' with 'The Magic of Sunshine' considering they have similar BPMs, but I don't think it helps much since, at the end of the day, they're both very different songs. Your quite right, but I only brought it up to show how my personal opinion can differ compared to my rated opinion and that I compare them on the basis that, although the songs are quite differant, there roots, composure and label are very similar. Im sure it would just boggle the mind if I started comparing "The Magic of Sunshine" with "Little Little Star", however I feel that would be going too far.
Im not sure if it being "Aishu" enough as to why I like it, as I have a soft spot for that, or that its more Nostalgic as alot of popular tunes in the 80's where ballads, but HTSIS just sounds alot more universal and agreeable to those outside the eurobeat community, even if that point isnt part of the review.
