Thoughts on this SEB:
- Damn surprised it arrive Wednesday morning. That NEVER happens =D
- This album made me realize how much I MISSED my beloved Aishu, the softer side of Eurobeat ♥
- I think it's the first time in Stephy's Eurobeat career that she's been pitched up like that. Awesome track.
- It's funny that avex had to dig in their back catalogue to find some old Time tracks to fill up the theme for this CD =P
- Fever of Love, My King Is You, Forever Sad, and I Remember are my hits for this SEB. Happy Valentine comes close, but no cigar.
- Call Me has instantly grown on me compared to when I last paid attention to it on SEB 190.
- Give It All Up To Me. I don't think I've ever been so disappointed with SCP before. This track is mediocre at best unfortunately. And that last high note in the sabi is borderline eeeeek >.<
- This remix of Fantasy kicks Try Me and Space Boy's asses from the last SEB, even though it's still nothing that spectacular =P
Next months theme will be such a drastic change from this little gem. It's a shame so few people appreciate Aishu.

My thoughts on the album...
Good:
Good:
- Stephy Martini's production is already a top contender for best track of the decade in my eyes. I've thought hard to try and name a single bad thing about this song, but I can't. Really. Those who say it's just 'all right' or 'okay' must be kidding themselves. 'Fever of Love' really raises the general bar in eurobeat, and I'd love to see other labels try and match this in quality (good luck!);
- Pleasantly surprised by the Hi-NRG Attack entries. 'Si La Do' was quirky and fun, rather than annoying and forgettable like the majority of HRG's female productions. I'm highly skeptical about HRG maintaining this level, but I'm all for surprises;
- The singular entries by Delta and Go Go's Music were well-received, as well as the A-Beat C productions. Norma Sheffield managed to surprise me for the second time in a row. Her recent productions (re)sparked my interest in her music for the first time in a long while, albeit a little too late unfortunately;
- No SinclaireStyle and Saifam! No, really, I think all of us needed a break from them for one album. Leonardi's and Farina's usual styles can become tiresome quickly.
- As much as I love Time and Eurogrooves, they've taken up too much space on this album to truly appreciate what they've offered us. The power and excitement factors of the Ferretti tracks overshadows the weaker and generic Gambogi songs;
- SCP falters with another random duet. Mixing the trancier style of Pamsy with the more subtle and calm Jay Lehr resulted in a confusing, misguided performance, reminiscent of that infamous Christine and Van T.K. duet from 169. I'm unsure what Castagna was aiming for here, but he never seems to quite 'get it' with these oddball duets;
- Too many female productions. I suppose that's a given on any SEB inundated with 'aishu' eurobeat, but it never hurts to maintain a gender balance.
I actually think quite the opposite. Gambogi's tracks, I Remember in particular, seem better to me. I think it's because Giordano and Dany took part in writing the songs - both the lyrics (compare "I can see your crying eyes, music dies" to "My passion now is wonderful") and the way the melody progresses throughout the songs seem more, um, sophisticated than in Elena's rather generic tracks. I particularly enjoy the B-melos in recent Kasanova tracks - Feel Me Tender had an awesome tension-building bridge as well.Jay wrote:The power and excitement factors of the Ferretti tracks overshadows the weaker and generic Gambogi songs
On a side note, anybody noticed the melody from Dolce Vita by Ryan Paris in the intro to Dolcevita Tonight?
I don't understand why you guys hate ''Give it all up to me'' that much.
Because... I think this is a great song, and probably one of the best songs of the 190s.
I like the combination of Pamsy and Jay Lehr's voice, absolutely wonderful! It's just soo cute! ( Oh man I hope I'll be to meet Jay Lehr in July this year!!
)
Oh usually I'm a Norma Sheffield hater, but this new track sounds absolutely great!
Good songs
Domino / Call me
Pamsy & Jay Lehr / Give it all up to me
Norma Sheffield / For your love
Virginelle / Fantasy <Sweetest>
Bad songs
All I haven't listed above

This song combines my two favourite vocalists. I would saddened by Eurogroove and TIME entries this...err...time around. Nothing outstanding. Fantasy's remix sounds like the old, "Heaven meets Eurobeat" album with a beat behind it. Pretty to listen to, but forgettable.
I think Norma's accent just bugs the crap out of me. She can't do anything about that LOL. Although, Your Body Lies and Ladies are two of her best entries in the SEB series.
Yes...YES!! Although that doesn't excuse the fact that For Your Love is a terrible, disjointed mess of a song. I'm seriously confused about it getting so praise, but I guess we are living in a pretty crazy world...para_rigby wrote:I think Norma's accent just bugs the crap out of me.

"Tooonat ah wanna, be your world - Monday your loaver - wedding fur you...

This made me lol pretty darn hard. Her accent most definitely IS an acquired taste, if one decides to sustain the flavor for long enough.the_ditz wrote:"Tooonat ah wanna, be your world - Monday your loaver - wedding fur you...

(Finally... someone agrees that she says "Loave" instead of "Luhve"~!)
A lot's changed in the decade and a half I've been here.

This album is a huge let down... There aren't any songs that I would go out of my way to listen to. I don't even really have an opinion on most of the songs, but I do have a few gripes:
Fever Of Love / Stephy Martini - it's pretty sweet song, but the chorus is really weak, she could have done better vocally, and the "back up" (or whatever it is) continuously repeating is really annoying.
Forever Sad / Hely - I'm really surprised that this was a Eurogrooves track, not one of the random TIME songs AVEX dug up for filler. It's your generic TIME female tune with typical, boring and uninspired lyrics - it's a huge disappointment and it seems like they didn't put any decent effort into it.
Some cool points for this album:
The two TIME songs were co-wrote by Dhany (If there isn't another D. Galli floating around TIME.)
The album art I made for Domino's iTunes album was in the booklet. That was really weird (but awesome!) to see. lol
Top 3:
Domino / Call Me
Pamsy & Jay Lehr / Give It All Up To Me
Norma Sheffield / For Your Love
Bottom 3:
Hely / Forever Sad
Pistol Girl / Si La Do
Leslie Parrish / My King is You

I feel Castagna didn't really know what to do with this duet. Like with Christine and Van T.K., he teamed these two up to add some spontaneity to his eurobeat work. It sounds interesting on paper, but problems can and do arise when he tries to find a middleground between two incommensurable styles. This isn't a Pamsy track, nor is it a Jay Lehr track... It's just a chaotic mess that doesn't do either of these talented vocalists any justice.DarkSky wrote:I don't understand why you guys hate ''Give it all up to me'' that much. Because... To be honest, I rarely pay attention to the lyrics. I try to concentrate more on other elements in a song, mainly because the bad English present in most eurobeat makes me cringe. Some labels are bigger offenders of this than others, particularly Time and Hi-NRG Attack. Whether the Gambogi tracks are better lyrically than Ferretti's was never a factor in what I said.cheeseman wrote:I actually think quite the opposite. I didn't think 'I Remember' was too bad; it was the better of the two Gambogi songs on this album, for sure, but it lacked that extra ounce of energy that 'Valentine's Day' had. The melodic progression in the Angie Sweet song may have not been as smooth as Kasanova's, but I don't consider this a bad thing as it adds much needed dynamism that keeps my interest's perked. The Gambogi songs, on the other hand, were really predictable and kind of boring.

So, I'll just write a mini review on each song...
1. Non-stop Megamix ~Love And Sweets~ by MST [Avex]
I'll be straight : FOR GOD'S SAKE PUT THIS GUY IN THE MEGAMIXING OF ALL SEB ALBUMS THAT NEEDS IT. KTHXBAI
Rating : 10
2. Fever Of Love by Stephy Martini [Dima]
This song has a great intro. Everything has been reunited for an awesome song. But a thing lacked horribly like someone pointed out earlier : the chorus. The line "Fever of love" feels out of place and it was put there by force. It's a great song but it's only to listen to when you do something else at the same time.
Rating : 9¼
3. My King Is You by Leslie Parrish [Delta]
Oh my god that intro... it reminds me soooo much of Daniel's "My Gasoline". Beside that. This song has the same problem gas "Fever Of Love" : the chorus. The verse, the riff sounds so awesome but the chorus just sound soooo OFF. This song is still pretty good though.
Rating : 9
4. Call Me by Domino [Go Go's Music]
Just hearing Domino singing in Japanese makes me sick. Totally rejoins Space Boy ~Grand Mix~ in "the songs that makes your ears bleed". Bonus points for the good riff.
Rating : 4¾
5. All I Want Is You by Mike West [Time]
The first part of the intro just throws me off. For the second part, it's better. This together, it removes a lot of chances of me listening to this. In general, the song is just so-so.
Rating : 6¾
6. Happy Valentine by Ai Yamamoto [SCP]
Only by listening to the intro, I can tell that this song is way better than the rest of Ai's songs (even if there's only 3 with this song). I like it a lot better than other songs I've already listened to.
Rating : 9½
7. Give It All Up To Me by Jay Lehr And Pamsy [SCP]
Obviously, it's a duo that was kinda forced because either Pamsy or Jay Lehr could have sung this alone and give the same results. The song is just so-so if you ask me.
Rating : 7½
8. Si La Do by Pistol Girl [Hi-NRG Attack]
Yay imagination in an intro
I really love that intro. Also, even if the riff sounds somewhat every other Hi-NRG Attack riffs, I can hear something different which is awesome. This could be the only song from SEB 194 I'll be looping for sure.
Rating : 10
9. For Your Love by Norma Sheffield [A-Beat-C]
The intro is somewhat original... a little more production in there. But the rest is just too mellow. But better than your average Norma productions.
Rating : 7
10. Dolcevita Tonight by Rick Castle [Hi-NRG Attack]
The intro is a little strange and I did remarked the similarity between the song that was shared in a video earlier. But, the song is only your average Hi-NRG productions with a little less energy. Not too bad.
Rating :7½
11. Forever Sad by Hely [Eurogrooves]
Eurogrooves has yet to let me down. But with this one, they did fail for the first time. I don't like Aishu eurobeat has many other person here.
Rating : 5½
12. I Remember by Kasanova [Time]
At fisrt sight, it feels like this song will be another boring song. Alas! This song is just great from the unreleased stuff from Time. Really good song. I'm surprised.
Rating : 9½
13. Valentine's Day by Angie Sweet [Eurogrooves]
This song has a "grandiose" feel to it. That's why this song is not bad at all. It has a line between Aishu Eurobeat and Normal Eurobeat. Great song in general. I like the speech at the beginning
Rating : 8¾
14. Fantasy ~Sweetest Mix~ by Virginelle [A-Beat-C]
Why not? That's what I'm saying to myself when I hear this. The intro is sweet and calm and the transition to the riff could have been a little better though. And the rest of the song is just awesome. I think this song is one of the only A-Beat-C hits in quite a while (at least for me)
Rating : 10
Overall, I think this album was just a loosy one between an awesome album and an awesome looking album. The album isn't as bas as I thought I would be. It's full of average songs in general. The megamix, Si La Do, Fantasy and Fever Of Love are the greatest hit of this album. Hands down.
