Nine wrote:Everyone's assumptions are based on just that - assuming things. You all get a few bits of information and form a scenario that is most likely untrue. Come give me a valid argument to why AVEX shouldn't be doing what they are doing after you have concrete facts.
Look at what Avex did to Delta's digital albums and their own iTunes artist albums. Avex has already caused damage through its xenophobic actions. I have absolutely no idea why those arguing 'for' Avex's revolutionary changes continually ignore these points, even though it's common knowledge.
Brisk wrote:So much QQing in this thread its really annoying now. Like Nine said, buying the songs really isn't difficult now. Hello, Music Ocean? Buy your songs there now instead of bitching about nonstop only.
I've already mentioned at least twice that I'm not buying from Music Ocean or iTunes because of the protected 128kbp/s WMA crap. I'm anticipating more typical 'get over it' posts, but I do care about quality. And honestly, I find it really amusing that those who see nothing wrong with the non-stops and Avex's recent actions are telling everybody to 'stop QQing and get over'; either that, or they say that non-stops are good and conveniently ignore everything else we've put forth.

Debates and contrasts in opinion are what forums thrive on. If everybody agreed on every matter, there'd be little reason to visit these places. The reason why everybody is QQing is because all this threatens our accessibility to good-quality eurobeat songs. I understand that some people feel that non-stops are fine and all, but look past the non-stops for a moment and see the wrong behind Avex's myriad of other revolutionary changes. Some of you still do not seem to grasp this.

So if you plan to leave the forums because some of us feel very strongly about what Avex has done to its Western fanbase, then all I can say is good luck in your future endeavours, but keep in mind that nobody has ever unanimously agreed on any matter on this forum. All you need to look at are people's reviews for various songs (Space Boy <Grand Mix> is a great example of a song that highlights how divisive people's opinions can be). That's simply the nature of forums where various views collide with each other. This situation puts eurobeat's future in a questionable state, and I'm so sorry that some of you do not seem to care or are oblivious to what's going on.

Boycotting the SEB series, at least momentarily, seems to be the only way to get our point across. Had Avex actually cared and listened to the opinions of their Western audience (I have lodged many emails to Avex in the past with no response), a boycott could be avoided. Had the labels been less passive and tried to persuade Avex to revert these changes, a boycott could be avoided. One thing I will not do is sit here passively and wait for Avex to change everything back to the way it was, because it won't happen without taking an active voice.

I pretty much agree with Javy and Nine on this situation...

I think this whole boycotting Avex stuff is garbage and in the long run you guys are only hurting the labels by doing it. Congratulations. You're accomplishing nothing.
You better watch yourself!

You better keep it cool!

Everything has a reason behind it, same goes for Avex, so QFT with Nine and Javy and anyone else who is with them.

Typing walls of text about avex is entirely pointless.

I haven't been around long enough, but were people crying because Euromachs were nonstops too? And I don't hear a lot of you bitching about the We Love TechPara series, which are nonstops too.

And I admit that intros of songs can be quite awesome (Space Boy (Grand Mix) comes to mind, again), but I mostly listen to albums, and not seperate songs.

I think it has just been too long ago that they released a non-stop except for the decade anniversary albums. Take a look at the 130's/140's, where you had a non-stop every 3 or so albums. The last non-stop was... 165, if I recall correctly? That's a few years ago, and you've all been spoiled.

And these songs will be available at some point in time anyhow. And I highly doubt that avex will be lying awake because there are about 10 less sales outside of Japan, while sales increase with a few hunderd pieces inside Japan. Yea, you guys are doing great! : D

My god, then make double discs.
Disc 1 - Non-Stop including the new songs
Disc 2 - Extended versions of the new songs.

That'd be perfect :)

Okay, I think this topic has gone on long enough with the Avex hating.

It's clear that there are two separate camps, with each camp not fully understanding the other's viewpoint (the anti-Avex camp aren't complaining about the SEB's being nonstops - they are complaining about there being reduced access for non-Japanese citizens of buying these nonstops online; similarly, the pro-Avex camp are keen to continue supporting the labels through SEB as there really aren't many other many other ways to support the labels exclusive to the series (such as SCP) apart from buying the SEB discs (iTunes Special Collections aside))

At the end of the day, no-one is achieving anything with the continual sniping that can very easily break a strong fan community like this one apart for something that, in the long run, really won't be the end of the genre - as much as some people may think that it is at the moment.

Extended versions can still be purchased with a Japanese iTunes card. Super Eurobeat will continue to be probably the most commercial benchmark of the genre's success worldwide. I'm not happy about losing my 13 tracks extended disc format, but I was raging when they changed from the 18 track edit format (less music in my eyes was a step backward). But I will still get a flutter in my stomach as the new SEB release approaches each month as it is my passion and the one genre I will always support.

I hope that brings some perspective to the topic. I hope that people don't jump on this post like they have on the previous posts.

King Of The Race is a very cool song. I find it cool that they brought back the song, Touch Me Baby by Doctor Stranger. I can't wait to get it extended on Music Ocean.

I think I should also point out that, equally, if in 6 months time Avex improves the situation, there's no reason to continue boycotting them. But for that to happen, I want to see:

- SEB return to an extended edit format (this seems the most likely - I'll agree that SEB 201 is likely to return to this)

- SEB Special Collections to return to non-Japanese iTunes

- More of the labels to be allowed to release their material to their fans the way they want to (i.e. Delta's Eurobeat Masters returned)

- This stupid anti-Westerner policy with Japanese downloads to be dropped. Seriously, if this stuff about China is true then i don't see how they'd ever stop that even with all this ridiculous blocking. All they're doing is infuriating genuine customers.

- Dropping their use of DRM on iTunes releases (to be fair this was probably the reason iTunes US/Europe dropped them in the first place).

If it seems unreasonable to expect a decent level of service from a music publisher, think how many people are up in arms because The Beatles' music catalogue continues to be unavailable for download purchase. People want more choice to purchase legally, not to be punished for something that the music industry has failed to combat properly (piracy).

The more Avex does to rectify this abysmal situation, the happier I'll be, but it seems like it's a long way off. Also, I accept that this is now way outside the scope of just SEB 197, so this is the last I plan to post on this discussion in this thread. Nonetheless, SEB 197 going megamix only was the last straw for me, so it's been a time of venting just about everything that's wrong with Eurobeat at the moment.

Is this album definitely going to be available on Music Ocean? I was sure that I saw someone saying somewhere that SEB albums weren't on that site?

I didn't see any SEB albums on Music Ocean - although Speed & Power is up on there. Maybe it's only select releases?
