I absolutely _LOATHE_ the way Time uses the word macho in the lyrics as it just sounds so off and bad every time I hear it.... :P
That is exactly one of the reasons why I love this song to death. He sings that with all the Vaneness, Pride and self confidence that song requires. A Perfect Hero could easily be a continauation to Idol and Pride.

For the record my favourite line is with no doubt. "Give Me Your Sexy Body" It oozes of Dall Ora style.

BTW, Elena sounds great on backup. I would love her to do vocals on a song that agressive.

Does anyone else agree with me, or am I alone in my The Snake/Irene/Dima world??
For some reason the Irene song is sounding faster everyTIME I hear it, but I still think it would be eaten alive in the company of those other two :D

You're not alone there - I really don't care much for A Perfect Hero either. I'm sure this must be something about our British taste in Eurobeat, because you seem to share a like/dislike of a lot of the same tracks that I do! ;-)

I'd give a more critical appraisal of it, but I deliberately left it off my iPod when ripping tracks from SEB 188 to listen to. If a song fails to make an impression after several listens, I don't carry it around with me.

A generally nice and high level on the album, no denying about it, but it just lacks the oomph and uniqueness some other albums offered. Review sometime later this week I guess.
Darn, I was really hoping for your first "9" of this decade with this album, but I guess I was totally wrong. :(

I kinda feel like the Irene song is a left over Romi song, the synths actually sound more Blast than SCP to me, although theyre kinda interchangable to begin with.

That is exactly the same feelings I get with Irene's songs. Less Transy in the keyboards. Does that mean that Blast is affilaiated with SCP?

As I read this comment , I was thinking that the 180's decade has been been pretty incredible. 182 and 183 directly came to mind. In fact it only started going a bit downhill for me by 186. With 187 being the worst for me in years, but 188 has totally shot back to the greatness that deserves the title SUPER EUROBEAT!

If by British Eurobeat you mean the SAW style of the 80's, than it really has to do with personal preference more than anything, because I love that style. Esp the DOA, Rick Astly and Bananaramma, but I still go wild nuts for the aggressive rocky Eurobeat 8) [/quote]

OK, like I said, I will give my full review. I will do it now!

P.S My rating won't be below 0, nor over 10.
P.S.2 I started to write a really long review but, the more I write, the less words are coming. Ugh. Sorry.

01. QUEEN OF MEAN / The Snake Label : SCP

From the beginning, when I saw that this song was featured on this album, I had very high hopes of a follow up of Speed Of Light, which is one of the best songs in the 180's. My hopes were up. The preview of the song really pumped me up : I was really happy to discover that the song was pure awesomeness : very catchy vocals, fast and awesome guitar and very good guitar solo. Those alone make the perfect The Snake song. Totally love it!

Rating : 10

02. TOKYO TONIGHT / Mark & Roby Label : Saifam

I had ABSOLUTELY no idea, from the beginning what this song will sound. I was expecting nothing. Nothingness. Now, that I've heard it, I must say that this song is a really catchy one. The "Go"s are overused, but, they are for one thing : to make this catchy and enjoyable. The vocals are really good. The riff is particulary a stand-out. The sound world used are very well used : guitar, background sounds are very well used. Very good job!

Rating : 10

03. SPIRIT OF THE NIGHT / Daniel Label : Delta

Opinions are heard : some stays, some change, some complety disappear. Daniel's debut was horrible, particullary with Frontal Impact, then, released a very good song, on SEB 184, Full Metal Cars. And, now, we have Spirits Of The Night. Like I said opinions change. So, when I heard the preview, I was like "OMG this is da shit".

After listening a few times, I now agree that this song is not bad but it just doesn't equal Full Metal Cars. Overall sounds are okay : they can be WAY better though. The vocals are the weakpoint of this. They are just too high-pitched. I would have loved better a song that's vocals just blend together. But, here, the vocals are like two different things put together... that's not working, at least for me.

Overall, I was expecting worse, in fact, a "Frontal Impact"-like song, but I was wrong. The song is OK, listenable in fact.

Rating :

04. RACE QUEEN / Giorgia V. Label : Go Go's Music

I thought, after praising this artist, that the song will be a hit. Well, I was left half baked. Everything in that song is really good, I mean it! But, there's a but, the way she sings in the couplet and in the chorus are too different making it sound strange and not fitting. The perfect example is how she sings "Race Queen". Beside that, I have nothing to say about this song.

Rating :

05. A PERFECT HERO / Chris Stanton Label : Time

I guess this song is the biggest surprise of the album. I wasn't expecting this kind of song from Chris Stanton. Everything works perfectly. The chorus is really perfect and exciting. The most noticeable part of the song is that "rockish beat" at the beginning after the "Rise!" and that other rise by the end. Really love it.

Rating : 10

06. NOTHING ABOUT ME BABY / Irene Label : SCP

Fillers, fillers, fillers...... I never thought that SCP would do such fillers. Reminds me of "I Love My Dog" by Vivi... Thing song hasn't much to say about except the annoying vocals but the good riff. Beside that, nothing is really much mentionning.

Rating :5

07. DO YOU REALLY WANNA LOVE ME / Norma Sheffield Label : A-Beat-C

Here is another song where opinions changes a little. Fillers are still fillers but this one, better than average fillers. The riff is cute and the vocal are improving a little. Listenable song but I won't listen it on a repetitive basis like I do with my favorites.

Rating :

08. ANYWAY, ANYMORE / Cherry Label : Delta

Cherry has been a very good artist during this decade and I'm proud of her. However, everyone's stardom has an end. Anyway, Anymore, on the top that his intro has been edited a little, is that song. The song is not has catchy as the previous titles, I name, Set Me Free, Yes I Will and Rebel Yell. But the song is really enjoyable anyway.

Rating : 8

09. RUN & RUN / Leslie Hammond Label : Hi-NRG Attack

As many others, I wasn't expecting in ANYWAY. I don't worry ANYMORE. This song is awesome. The quirky vocals just blend together in the song very well and also very catchy. Hi-NRG Attack is indeed the king of funny songs! Me love.

Rating : 10

10. UP & DOWN SPIN ME LIKE A RECORD / Mega NRG Man Label : A-Beat-C

This song is a pain to listen to. It makes my ears bleed. The intro is awful and it use it twice!!! Seriously. I just wish Mega NRG Man stops to do Eurobeat because I've lost faith in him and its been a while.

Rating : 0

11. GO GO CHAMPION / DJ NRG Label : A-Beat-C

A surprise artist show up. Indeed. A really catchy song with a very boring intro. Instead of building up the melody, ABeat decides to just pop the riff up in one go... I just really hate that. Beside that, I really hate the back vocal on "Champion" (is it Dave Rodgers or Mega NRG Man?). It kinda ruin it. Beside those fact, the song is good, not top notch, but a nice piece of work. Forgot to note... I hate Intro-Breakdowns. It's like if the song was restarting.

Rating :

12. TSUNDERE NIGHT / David Dima Label : Dima

So, Dima joins up the party. Only a couple labels missing. Now that I've listened to the full song, I've made my mind up. The song is really good. No wonder. Dima really gives me a good first impression. Keep up the good work....! Good... good... (points at the end of the song)

Rating :

13. POWER OF LOVING YOU / Sandy Label : SinclaireStyle

So, we reach the end of this CD with SinclaireStyle. The song kicks up beautifully. The intro is really good. The riff is really good. The vocals are a tad annoying but are fitting the song very well. But, overall, I'm not a fan of this song, but very listenable.

Rating :

OVERALL

Like I previously stated in other reviews, the 180's are totally awesome. This album is only a little notch down in quality but the level is still VERY high and I'm looking forward to the next album in hope to find another batch of jewels to listen to.

A-Beat-C has still a lot of work to do to offer real high quality songs. This album just showed that, beside the awful stuff, that they are learning and trying to make better stuff.

Delta has a little notch down. Cherry's song wasn't what I was expecting and Daniel has deceived me (once again...). I still keep faith in Delta, don't worry Newfield ;)

Time has a really good choice on there. Keep it up.

SCP has a filler and a awesome tune. But, still, a good label can have their mistakes right?

Dima made an awesome entry. Congrats!

Hi-NRG Attack is awesome in here. Go, go, go!

Sinclaire style... better the other entries but still a lot of efforst to do.

Go Go's is a bit down, but I guess this is temporary. :)

Overall Rating : 8

Top 3 :
- QUEEN OF MEAN / The Snake
- A PERFECT HERO / Chris Stanton
- RUN & RUN / Leslie Hammond

Honorable Mention :
- TSUNDERE NIGHT / David Dima

Worst 3 :
- NOTHING ABOUT ME BABY / Irene
- UP & DOWN SPIN ME LIKE A RECORD / Mega NRG Man
- DO YOU REALLY WANNA LOVE ME / Norma Sheffield

Yes, because CLEARLY there's no way in HELL that GGM has had some good tunes with him (y'know, like Rock Me or Back to 80's); it's all about ABeatC's handling of him that matters. Clearly, he should just quit the Eurobeat scene; he's lost his way over the last... what, 3 albums? That's WAAAAY too much. He's past his prime.
</sarcasm>
Had you dropped the segment in Italics, I'd have not minded.

What's up with the "disposable artists/labels" philosophy I've seen so damn much lately? Just because an artist or label is in a slump, they are of no use to us; therefore they should quit? Fuck that. This attitude makes me sick to be a Eurobeat fan, that I'd be associated with that mentality. These artists have been involved for nearly 20 years; NO KIDDING that they'd lose SOME of their quality over that time!
Call a bad song for what it is; a bad song. Call a bad streak for what it is; a bad streak. Just don't be so ignorant to suggest that, just because of a few bad songs, an artist should LEAVE the scene.

I'd rant further, but I'd rather restrain myself; I've already gone, possibly, too far.

From one D.J. to another. You should know better than most people why the breakdown almost always sounds like the intro. That's when the intro of the new song will be mixed in. Therefore ,it's the perfect method used by Dee Jays. How can you hate it? :???:

Actually that's not at all what I meant. Rather, I was referring to the fact that, having grown up in England rather than the US or elsewhere in Europe, I guess we've been used to a certain "sound" in music, which also goes a ways to explaining similar overall taste in EB (although I'm sure there are plenty of songs ditz prefers that I don't). This is also precisely why Eurovision is filled with middle-of-the-road pop - different countries have such vastly different tastes in music that you simply wouldn't get away with anything else and have it accepted by the majority.

Look, the only good song he made in the 180's is "Back To The 80's". And, in the 170, it was "In The Sunrise". Those are the only good songs that were offered in the the current and last decades (yet).

Only one mans opinion. Though he's had many quality songs such as Rock Me, Red Light & Sex, Rock On Fire and Back To 80's in the 170's to 180's. Again just my opinion.
You can hate me but you know you have quality issues =p
