Well, that's definitely not Elena on the cover. Looks too young and Asian. And of course, back in the day, they used the name Barbara Maniscalch to cover up her identity.

If you switch to the Japanese iTunes, you can already preview the new SEB releases. Again, no iTunes Plus this time out, so it's DRM-encrypted nonsense all the way!

That's just utterly ridiculous. When I'm out in Japan in May, I'm hunting down Avex and seriously doing them in!

Surely if Delta release compilations that have brand new tracks never to be featured on SEB, Avex can't touch them?? Or would they get them taken down because they have the same artists or something ridiculous like that?

Well done Avex - yet another nail in the coffin of an already niche and hard-to-find genre.

Seriously, it's like Avex doesn't have a clue any more. They've:

- Locked down online purchasing of SEB albums to Japan-only (so only the most dedicated Western fans can get ahold of it via obscure methods)
- Potentially decided to make the remainder of the 190s megamix-only
- Forced Delta's EB Masters series off of iTunes
- Prohibited their own labels from publishing promo videos of new songs (a la GGM, Hi-NRG)

Does this publisher even remotely deserve to receive any more money from us?

I'm sorry that this is going to ultimately hurt the labels/artists/writers who produce all this fantastic Eurobeat, but Avex deserves to pay the price by never selling a single piece of music again. Ever.

The fact being written, I suggest that we mobilize everyone (including the labels) against Avex's f***ing policies and try to open up Eurobeat to a larger fanbase. In fact, only the labels can do something against it. If the labels stops making Eurobeat because Avex's policies, then, maybe, they'll realize they made a big mistake and re-open the way we used to have our Eurobeat.

Now, the last nail they can put in their coffin is to avoid people from buying from places like CDJapan.

My only guess would be that Avex worries that the selling of an SEB label's music via iTunes would prevent fans from buying it through their own compilations instead, but they've taken it all way too far this time, and I'm sick of it. I still love eurobeat with a passion, but Avex is constantly making it harder and harder just to even be able to buy more of it.

Quite honestly, I think eurobeat would be far more successful if it were availible outside of Japan, since it's kind of a dying trend over there, but other places like Korea and Taiwan are fairly interested. At this point I think the genre would be a million times more successful if all the labels, including the exclusively-owned ones, quit their contract with Avex and actually made a true effort to promote their music. Not just by releasing it separately, but by spreading word. I bet a compilation of at least fairly radio-friendly eurobeat would do just fine if it were released internationally; surely it wouldn't be a massive hit, but it would do okay.

I know it sounds naive to think that promoting eurobeat outside of a large company would be better, but at this point, Avex has become the primary enemy of everything.

Did they officially force Delta to cancel/remove the EB Masters series?
I see, they've all been removed from the iTunes store.
