Some news from Live Music Studio
I know what you all mean, and in most cases I agree. I HATE Hip Hop and rap. That's why I'm into Eurobeat; it's very related to what I enjoy in listening to and writing music. The US does not have as great of a musical reputation as it used to be (and I understand that; anyone who's seen how deeply I rip into the I Love You! Group's attempt at "Anime Parapara" on iTunes would catch that).
I just think that it could have better representation than some J-Euro groups that iTunes is picking up. I mean, not even the Eurobeat mixes of Dragostea Din Tae and Chocolate from Soul Patrol are available on it!! True, Eurobeat going totally 'mainstream' in America would be nearly impossible, and if it did, things wouldn't go so hot, but it could at least be doing BETTER than this. Would it kill AVEX to release, say, Space Boy? Or the REAL Night of Fire? Or Hot Limit? I don't think so.

Valiant was right! Para Cool 3 IS out! I'mma scoop out some fresh copypasta on what I thought about HRG's newest installment on iTunes:
"This album takes some of the best, if not somewhat retro, synth lines form its catalogue and fires them at point blank into our faces. Let's tear this sucker apart and see what's inside:
*MOVE YOUR FEET: This one seems to harken back to BBD for some reason for me. Mote Mote sounds like... Tam Arrow? Hard to say. Vocals are fair, but it's the synth line that really sends this track flying. Well-acquainted HRG fans should get this one.
*WIRELESS GIRL: Intro's a hoot. What is it with HRG and using almost arcade-ish intros? Another traditional, flying-synth-line track, but the female vocals are well done. Chorus isn't amazing lyrically, but it sets the stage for the synth line very well. Those just entering the realm of Eurobeat will like this one.
*BAILA MESCALERO: Franz Tornado once again runs out of ideas for truly original lyrics, scooping from his repertoire of lyrics from songs past. In fact, something about his voice seems to be almost... raspier, or otherwise not the same from his usual fare. He references Bazooka Pistolero, Bandolero Comanchero, Caballero With Sombrero... basically all the Spanish-speaking titles. Outside of the sometimes annoying lyrics, however, the synth line is one of Franz's best for not being an absolute hook in itself. Those who can stand massive repetition will ADORE this track. Others will download it at their sanity's risk. They will either fall in love with the synth line or hate the vocals.
*STREET BOY: Subdued and emotional. This is probably as deep as most HRG tracks get. Buy it if you're feeling more sentimental but would still like to dance the night away. Not much else to say about this one.
*I'LL BE YOUR KING KONG: Oh dear! Do I smell some MORE references to Boom Boom Dollar? If the title doesn't tip you off to the old song, the synth line most certainly will. The vocals are VERY loose and raw, Franz Tornado would've done better justice to the song in such means. This isn't to say that the vocals are off or poor, it's just not the same thing HRG fans are all too used to. Synth line is WONDERFUL. Buy THIS track if you buy just one track from this album.
*MR. DARK: More subdued, but not as emotional as Street Boy. It's a toss-up; while the female vocals are fair enough, the synth line is almost the boring Para Cool fare we should've expected from this one. It's your call on this one.
*BLUE BIKINI: This one is a toss-back to Flying All Around the World from Bazooka Girl (found on Ganguro All Stars). From an out-of-Eurobeat perspective, the song is WAY overly syrupy; inside the Eurobeat fandom, it's a great little ditty for the calmer listener.
*SPIRIT IN THE DARK: Female vocals at their paramount. Those alone are totally worth buying the track. The synth line is somewhat less "raging" for HRG, but it's got its own musical merits. It's a head-in-the-clouds anthem, and it's a great track all around. Buy THIS track if you buy two tracks from this album.
*BLUE FLAMINGO: Boing boing! The intro is pretty silly, then pans into some pretty fun Eurobeat fare. The synth line is somewhat simple, but keeps the HRG energy intact. This MUST be Tam Arrow's vocal work, which is always nice. Vocals stretch very nicely in this track, albeit not what I'd think of when I think of Flamingos (then again, I don't think of flamingos being blue, either). Buy THIS track if you buy three tracks from this album.
*MY LOVE IS ROCK 'N ROLL: For some reason this song reminds me of a history montage of Eurobeat. Vocal range is good, but the lyrics are less than satisfactory-- we can't understand a word!! Synth line is subdued as well. Only get this if you're buying all the rest of the tracks you didn't buy the first time around.
*PEOPLE OF THE NIGHT: This one seems to remind me of a Vibration track, in some ways, although I can't put my finger on exactly why or how. Nevertheless, it's a darker song that treads the line between emotional and energetic. A solid track which, unfortunately, doesn't really stand out all that well. Without the vocals (which are fair enough as is), the music is pretty interesting.
*PAY FOR LOVE: This one sounds like ParaparaMooo fare, which isn't always great. If you were a fan of the first two PPMs, you'd do well to buy this track.
OVERALL: It's a surprisingly well-done album, with evidence that HRG is doing their homework on what iTunes buyers will purchase. It's a welcome addition to any Eurobeat fan's collection, and ANY HRG fan should rightfully have this track. Those just getting into Eurobeat should buy a few select tracks and get used to some of the other Eurobeat songs that iTunes has to offer (if only they had better representation on here).
TRACKS OF NOTE:
*Baila Mescalero (If you can catch all the songs he's referencing in the Chorus, you are a true diehard. XD )
*I'll Be Your King Kong (bonus points if you remember what it's referencing!)
*Spirit in the Dark

Erm... I do iTunes reviews a bit differently than I would anywhere else... I take it that people can see the names next to the artist in iTunes, and/or am not always all that well-acquainted with artist pseudonyms. I have a hard enough time with Mr. Rimonti. I had no idea that Mote Mote was Tam Arrow, for instance.drnrg wrote:Nice review, but why didn't you mention the artits manes next to the song?

valiant
I like that choice word. Spectacular! CHAOTIC-SPECTACULAR
By the way, without any mumbo jumbo talk, can someone guide me throu steps to order HRG on ITunes.
So far Itunes in Italian language opens up. It say free download. My question is after I click on that and download whatever it is I need, Will I need to pay anything extra for the songs? I don't wanna download anything if I'm still gonna have to pay. So if someone can explain before I actually do anything I would appreciate it. I have never tried Downloading from itunes. I do most of my D/L from forums and such were you basically just link on a file without any problem. Also I hate downlading unnecessary programs on to my p.c.
Hi-Nrg Attack is full of great surprises . Such a spectacular label!
