I think Riki 1's songs had more variety than the other HRG singers. The departure of him and Claudio Magnani was the beginning of the downhill slide for HRG. I also miss the unidentified singers, HRG was at their peak during the Euromach era when they had more vocalists. One of my favorites: the singer of Welcome To The Moon and Without You I Feel Blue(not depressing, despite the name). Not only she had a distinctive voice, but the songs had a somewhat unique sound to them. And what happened to unpitched female vocals? In the EBF era and first half of EM, they mostly used their real voices, after, they used almost exclusively squeaky chipmunk vocals. Is it true that most jap. singers have naturally squeaky voices?

The singers at HRG aren't Japanese. They're Italian. Magnani and Girabaudo (Riki 1, Pasty Son, Rick Castle) are still there singing. Look at the list of 191 (Magnani) and the song list for 189 (Girabaudo).

That Magnani song you speak of(Manga Super Robot) was produced in about 2002-2003(by the catalogue), and he officially left in 2005. I thought I heard in an older thread that Riki 1 and Andrea Girbaudo were one and the same. They do sound alike. I got confused because Cheeseman's page listed Riki 1 as a separate artist. I think Cheeseman is right, though, Riki has a deeper voice than Rick Castle, among other subtleties.

Most songs released nowadays are a mix between 2002-2007. Half are "old" half are new.

It sounds unlikely, but Franz Tornado - Tornado Superchild is one I would nominate for being... not heavily depressing, but very melancholic - especially the breakdown at the end. Quite unlikely given most of the lyrics, but some of them seem to suggest a deep longing that wishes to be fulfilled.

Also one of the few Tornado songs to not be sung by Federico. That one was Gianni Coraini. The other one, Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, was sung by Roby Gabrielli, who in the beginning was their only male singer.

I love Roberto Gabrielli's Italian Accent. I wish he would sing more often

Cherry's "Yes I Will" has pretty sad lyrics IMO, but no song makes me "depressed". (Btw, I'm not too fond of many female tracks, but this song is AMAZING.)

I really think Yes I Will is the best song of the 180s. Maybe not the the one I listen to the most, but it feels the best produced and the most creative (the ride cymbal and that awesome synthline are what come to mind) while still staying in the eurobeat formula.

i have to say i like the remix of "yes i will - Cherry" on the bonus disc on i think 186, i like the early eurobeat feel to the song and the slower bass line makes the song feel more powerfull. i do like the original also but its a bit to hype for me...

I gotta agree with you here 100%. It's a perfect fuse of Italo, Eurobeat and Hi Energy. You got The Dead or Alive beat throughout the song. The intro of Shy Rose -I Cry For You and some of the percusion of both Sophie's My World and Soft TIME. It totally reminded me of another DELTA classic ; Madison- Without You

The remix of Yes I Will would have been better if the vocals would have been re-recorded for the speed of the song... Now, they only sound so slow down... That's why I don't really care. I prefer the original by far. But, on the remix p-o-v, this is the best for sure XD

Leslie Hammond - Save Me (HRG). The definition of Aishu (said to mean "sadness" in Japanese).

Die Die is definitely one of those darker Eurobeat songs that I think of. A few others I can think of right now are Fireball and Find an Angel. Those 2 both sound kind of darker. Actually, now that I think about it a lot of the Saifam songs have that same type of dark sound. Sweet Heaven is another example of this.
