That's what you get when the Rodgers team tries to redo a Sinclaire production...
I don't think it sounds
that bad though... compared to other A beat C of the past 10 years
Anyway, I voted for Dark In The Night because that's an all time favorite. However, I fully agree with you on Love Is Danger 2006. It is the only remake so far that is better than the original. It's great! My vote should go there...

Like A Virgin 2005 is a strange one. It's not awful but there's a distinct loss of energy from the original - it's become one of the rather less edgy Nuage songs instead :S
tbh the main difference you should be able to tell with Wild Reputation vs Wild Reputation 2005 is that the synths sound a load more hollowed out in the original - at least, that's definitely the way I'd tell (you're unlikely to hear the difference in drums between the two in a loud club atmosphere, but the original uses a lot more "sound effects" during each intro, so who knows).

how about night of fire 2004 - it wasnt released on a seb album but it appeared in niko's music video of it. I quite liked that, concidering it's night of fire and all. haha
How about Tora Tora Tora (Doutonbori Fever Mix 2003) ?

I had completely forgotten about that one! That song is the best part about Best of SEB 2003

Dark in the Night vs. Dark in the Night 2004 version:
The immediate giveaway is the basic rhythm pattern is 'new' not 'old' eurobeat.
Synths sound more 'modern' (that doesn't mean better!) on the new one.
Ditto drums.
Different arpeggios on new one?
I can't say I like the song enough to give it any closer listen than that...

DJ Mike wrote:I think people keep wanting these remakes to be faster, peppier versions of the originals. Personally, for my money, I'd keep the tempo exactly as it is, and just beef up the content. Faster does NOT equal more powerful.
I'd agree (that faster does not equal more powerful), but if the rest of the songs are 160bpm, then you're gonna sound slow if you don't keep up... besides, severe bpm disparities are a problem with mixing for continuous play.
I don't see the point in a remake unless you're fixing a few obvious faults with the original. Otherwise a (well written/produced) song is an 'integrated' package, you change one thing, everything else needs changing.

that's not a remake like the other 200x songs are, it's just a usual remix. :-(

Now, I could have swore Ding A Ling 2006 had 16% on the votes a couple days ago :s.

I'd have to say On My Own is my fave since I love Annerley.
However, Tora Tora Tora's 2003 remix was REALLY good, and I love it.

The thing is though, "Tora Tora Tora 2003" isn't a 200x remake, it's just a remix of the song that happens to have the year in the remix title.

How about the fact that nando Bonini vocals sound a tad bit different than from the original. Like if he returned to re-record them

They don't, though
In fact, they distinctly sound as if someone took the original vocals (which would have been recorded for the song's original, slower speed) and ran them through a time stretch processor to speed them up to fit the new song.
They don't in any way sound different to the original song, and if you think they do then you're being fooled by what is likely to be different EQ settings as a result of the way the song is mixed, combined with the "perceived" change from the vocals being sped up.

Mayhaps have a "best SEB remix" competition as well then?

although...there'd probably be a gazillion competing songs
