WOW!

How in the world does Avex miss some of these gems. This album is truely worthwhile just for Laura Vox's Sexy Wild & Crazy Sound.

This is probably Hi-NRG Attack's MOST unique work (in a good way). It really deviates from the conventional Eurobeat formula (wonder who produced this one). Mistake me if I am wrong, but this may be Hi-NRG Attack's slowest track?

Whoever the producer is, excellent work! Shame on Avex for not taking this one.

The rest of the album is very unique as well (not too much on the fast side).

My favorites aside from Sexy Wild & Crazy Sound...
-Fesutaru's Dead Or Alive (Possibly Hi-NRG Attack's most insane track vocally. Festari sounds like he is having too much fun with this one...or he is just incredibly drunk.)
-Nick Turbo's Ride On Fire (This one is just oddly catchy.)
-Jeff Driller's Work Like An Egyptian (This one is really funny. Repeating "Work" that many times just sounds really akward)
-Garcon's I Am Mister Blaster (Again, catchy).

Overall, I am very pleased with this release. Please throw out more albums Hi-NRG Attack!

Oh my, is Laura Vox an alias of Laura Tartuferi? Just as I thought. I had been waiting for those "unknown artist's" songs to come out. When will we get "Bad Gunfire" or the Alison Batton(Alice?) and Miss Joke songs?
BTW, the sabi melody of Sexy Wild & Crazy Sound is apparently based on Kelly Clarkson's Behind These Hazel Eyes(2003/2004-ish), nothing wrong with that in the Eurobeat world, eh?
And "?", i wonder if her identity will eventually be revealed somehow, is her name actually Samantha? She sounds like she was also the original voice of "Samanta Claus"(in And Now It's Christmas Time).

Well, the quality that was present in The Speed & The Furious and Trailblazers is pretty much absent on these previews. What we have hear are some very old songs. Of the new ones; I guess HRG 549 is the oldest?

If this is what HRG conciders expiremental, then I perfer thier good old sound. Not bad tracks , but not too memorable either. The ones that do stand out are probobly destined for a lot of airplay on my cd, but others just leave me blank :|

2. HRG 642 Garcon- Makka Makka- Wow. This one is really strange. The way garcon sings is also oddball. The verse and bridge are good enough, but fail to make a connection. The Makka Makka part just left me cold and I didn't know what to make out of that riff. I got a srtange Romania feel from it. The whole track leaves me ina blank
6+/10

3. HRG 600- Laura Vox- Sexy Wild & Crazy Sound- This one is really relaxed in the BPMs, but that's why it stands out so much. The whole song gives me an 80's Italo feel. Most definately my favourite of the bunch and the vocalist sounds kinda new. A really great track and the only 10.
10/10

4. HRG 557 Jeff Driller- Work Like An Egyptian- This one is a blatant rehash of Burn Burn Get My Fire except for the synths that sound off tune. I thought this might be a Bangals inspired cover, but I was wrong. Anotherone that really doesn't spark my fire.
7-/10

5. HRG 660- Nick & Samantha- Bubblegum- Here another song that is completely the opposite of regular HRG Attack fare. It's slower in BPMs has a popish tone and sounds like a true duet between Garcon and ?. The funny thing is that I'm really into this tune for exactly those reasons. It's pure Bubblegum NRG, but still fun without becoming ridiculous.
9/10

7. HRG 647 Nick Turbo- Ride On Fire- This is more like it. Sounds like a song that would fit nicely in the 150's, because of the chimes and melody. This one has an old skool Italo vibe in the riff. I really like the female´accompanyment in the bridge as well.
8/10

8. HRG 549 P.Stone -Dance Around The World- This looks like it might have been one Claudio's last songs at HRG if not his last. Anyway, the whole style is perfect for somthing he would sing. Not an instant hit, but surely so very special in collectors value.
8+/10

9. HRG 629 Fesutaru- Dead Or Alive- I'm probobly all alone here, but I like this track. It's totally chaotic in everything ,from the wacky vocals to the Dead O5r Alive to the Mark Farina style. It also has a very cool way of playing the synthns that HRG seldom incorporates into thier songs anymore. Overall it sounded fresh to me and sounds like an awesome sing a long. BTW, what's up with that alias? LOL!
8+/10

11. HRG 596 Garcon- I Am Mister Blaster- This one is really sounding good in the melody and fits so well in the 150's era. I kinda hear the Dancing in The Jungle riff trying to break out. The verses sound great and the ohohs in the chorus make it even more funner, but still aggressivness enough for my style.
8+/10

12. HRG 560 Franz Tornado & Bazooka Girl- Velfarre 10- I'm not into this Velfarre tribute songs, but I kinda like the Velfarre oooh part. The best aspect of this track is the jumpy riff, but the song is no diifferent from 100 other Franz songs. For instance Sucka Bazooka anyone?
8/10

13. HRG 624 Nikkita Jr. Para para Lemonade- Not really my style. The riff is worthy enough, but the vocals sound too warped and the whole Para para Lemonade makes me thirsty. It's cool how it rhymes with Seranade, but that's about it for this song
7-/10

A few of decent songs is what this cd offers , but no great hits, except Laura Vox. I really liked her song. I wonder who chose this songs ? I can say, that from the looks of it ,AVEX chose the right songs to release on SEB during that TIME period.

As valiant pointed out, these samples all sound really diverse and unique for Hi-NRG Attack. However, I'm gonna have to agree with drnrg and say that it's not really as good as the previous 2 albums (both of which are fantastic, I will review them soon). Another major trend in these songs is that the standout sections definitely tend to be the main synthline, while the vocal sections are a bit sloppy or just not quite up to par with the label's best. I can't really point out any truly great songs at the moment from this album (Dance Around The World is probably my favorite track). Velfarre 10 disappointed me a bit, it just completely washed over me without drawing my attention in any major way. Para Para Lemonade has a good synth, but the vocal phrases are really ugly and completely turn me away from it.

I'll definitely pick this album up at some point, but for right now I'm really enjoying The Speed & The Furious and The Trailblazers.

Finally, I must add that I'm really hoping that Dancing Into The Fire / Francis Cooper gets released as an extended version sometime soon.

Laura Vox- Sexy Wild & Crazy Sound is the best song on there!! Along with Dead Or Alive... I just want to buy them but I'm stuck at buying everything.

Questions to iTuners :

1. Are those album (The Speed & The Furious, Para Cool 5 and Trailblazers) available on there?
2. Can we buy separate tracks?

The Speed & The Furious.... there's a couple song on there that were released on SEB and those weren't THAT awesome *points to Superfast Tokyo Drift*. Ride On My Speedy Car is already in full on SEB 191 (still an awesome song though).

For Trailblazers, same story except worse. Would pay for Bomba and Tokyo Strike Force in full though and also Baby Bazooka's Pagal.

And by not buying them I'm not supporting the music which I don't like. I don't want releases like these in the future. They're derivative and it's one of the reasons why Eurobeat is in the slump right now, same old stuff. It's boring.

As for Infinity, I don't like pitched vocals. I don't care who it is. The only few times I let it go are for actual songs that are impressive (I Am A Barracuda, SEF Deluxe, Pun Pun Beam).

drnrg, you should know I don't care what other people say about this label. It just doesn't cater to me anymore. If anything one of their biggest supporters Adam from Eurobeat Evolution mentioned how he disliked their current style a while ago. I used to really care for this label back in Eurobeat Flash and for most of the Euromach days. Now, they're formula of "chaotic and silly" doesn't fly. I want them to go back to the as the announcer described on 190 "violent and cold sounding" HRG that was present in SEF Deluxe. I dunno about you but it's saying something when this song was a huge hit before it even came out on 192.

I will say the Laura Vox is a good start in changing the sound. It's solid work, not perfect but I wouldn't mind this song being on SEB.
You can hate me but you know you have quality issues =p

Bizarrely (considering the mixed reception that this album has received so far), I actually find it to be more interesting overall than the previous two releases. In fact, listening to all the samples, I would be far far more likely to purchase this release in its entirity than the others. I may just do that today...

EDIT: Oh sweet! I just found out that I had £26 in my Paypal account, so I'm downloading The Speed & The Furious and Parapara Coll vol. 5 right now without having to use my credit card!! Happy days

Not yet. And these albums haven't even been confirmed by LMS's website yet. I hope they show up sooner or later, along with maybe another Oldies Goldies(including some previously Juno-only songs and unreleased extendeds of Euromach tracks, such as the lost Black Eva songs, eg Carillon and Turn The Beat Around)
I see their extendeds are shorter than they used to be, though still longer than the SEB edits. I hate it when extendeds are TOO long and repetitive, sometimes apparently being made after the original(eg Leslie Parrish - Remember Me, and Bandolero Comanchero, which is the longest HRG extended I've ever heard at over 6 minutes, but the extra minutes seem to be just filler)

All I gotta say is that I like the Live Music team since there days at TIME, but I also love tracks like Mad Cow, Take My Hammer Hannibal The Cannibal ect.... I agree on you that I wish they would release as least once in a while Eurobeat Flash sounding tracks like Dolly Pop- Together Forever, Mara Nell- Red Ferrarri ect.. I actually think they have a few on thier catalog judjing by some of the songs titles. It's AVEX who chooses the hyped up style for the fans. There is a very fine line between Violent and Chaotic. A song like Batman Is Bruce Wayne could fit perfectly onto todays sound, by revamping the synth line a bit as well as Black Vampire. I don't think there sound has changed too much, just a few added bpms and hyped up female vocals, but all in all it's still HRG Attack. Love em or hate em, they are here to stay :)

I'll agree that Laura Vox was the standout on production values, although it is plagued by those cacophonic cascading vocal overlays. 'Dead Or Alive' was enjoyable; it's above-average for HRG and sounds somewhat original, which is a scarcity from HRG these days. 'Parapara Lemonade' sounded all right and was pretty unique, although not really my glass of lemonade. Too silly for my liking.

The rest were bland and unmemorable.

Parapara Cool 5 needs some love, so I've started a review. Don't have time to finish it tonight sadly, but I'll complete it over the weekend!

REVIEW OF PARAPARA COOL VOL. 5 - PART 1

The two other albums seem to have gotten most of the praise after these recent updates, but I feel that Parapara Cool vol. 5 needs more love as it's a surprisingly varied and interesting release.

01 BOOGABOO - BURN BURN GET MY FIRE [05:20]
I really love this slower style with more emphasis on the kick drums and bass - it seems to give the whole production a much more rich sound. Taken from Euromach 4, this track still sounds great, with a classic Italo-sounding synth riff at the centerpiece of the song. The vocals are clear and well-delivered unlike many newer Hi-NRG Attack male tracks, and we get a more traditional extended edit to enjoy as well, which is nice. I don't really have to say much more as you've all heard this before, but it sets up this album nicely as being slightly different from the usual fast and frantic HRG fayre.
Score: 9+

02 GARCON - MAKKA MAKKA [04:04]
Wow, this sounds completely different for Garcon. The descending scale in the main hook makes me think of an air-raid warning during World War II or something similar - it has quite a menacing air about it. The vocals are a lot clearer than in many other Garcon tracks, and he actually sounds a bit younger somehow. The chorus is probably the part of this track that will stick in your mind the most, with its almost childish chanting of "Makka Makka", but the verses and bridge section are far more interesting for me - I love the shout of "EVERYBODY!" with the backing vocals just before the chorus. Overall, it's a complete departure from previous Garcon songs and may not appeal to everyone, but I'm initially quite impressed.
Score: 8+

03 LAURA VOX - SEXY WILD & CRAZY SOUND [04:12]
This seems to be getting most of the love from the sample reviews, and rightly so as this is a little gentle gem that doesn't scream or shout but leaves a lasting impression after listening! The intro phrases taken directly from the classic "Feel My Body And My Soul" are a nice retro throwback to the Eurobeat Flash days. The chord progression that kicks in around 00:13 is just irresistable, and we even get treated to some small electric guitar flourishes. The main hook sounds slightly out of place to me - not sure what it is, but it sounds too sprightly and Eurodancey somehow. The true appeal of this song however is the awesome vocal melodies. From start to finish, the lyrics and melody just work in perfect harmony - there's no arbitrary "fire and desire" stuff here! The chorus in particular is begging to be danced to with the high synchopation. Overall, I would probably say that this track is probably the highlight of the album and it's an absolute travesty that Avex has let slip away!
Score: 10+++

04 JEFF DRILLER - WORK LIKE AN EGYPTIAN [04:06]
This is definitely a slow-burning classic in my eyes. I've always loved Jeff Driller's tracks, and the production on this one harks back to one of HRG's strongest SEB appearances - 153. The synth sound in the hook is lifted more or less straight from Black Night Cadillac, although the melody is completely new. The vocal delivery - as with most Jeff Driller tracks - is great and I especially love the way they combine with the backing during the bridge section to create a sense of heightened tension in preparation for the chorus. The chorus itself is another classic with its typical HRG play on words. It clearly quotes the Bangles track "Walk Like An Egyptian" but the word Walk is substituted with Work (much like "Shake your body move" was substituted with Sheik Yarbati Moves!). My favourite quirk in the song is during the second half of the chorus when the melody shifts to the "minor" notes, giving the melody an added eastern/Egyptian flair. This track is another of my favourites on the album, and while some may dismiss it, I hope that others can see the uniqueness in the theme and production.
Score: 10

I was so confused with the sabi and intro in Makka Makka. Is this song supposed to make me feel angry or what?

Sexy Wild & Crazy Sound intro is very depressing for some reason which confuses me also because it's supposed to be "wild". o_O
