By the way: to my opinion there were enough very good titles HRG has released on I-tunes so far. Especially Bazooka Angels series. Hope part 5 will be released soon.

Yeah I got 186 in the mail. I actually think this is much better than any of the other albums in the 180s so far.

In 2006 I acidentally ordered 2 SEB 164s

In 2007 I acidentally ordered 2 SEB 176s

In 2008 I acidentally ordered 2 SEB 186s sitting next to me right now.

I call this my SEB decade curse -.-. I was wondering why my order was more expensive than usual. I thought they raised shipping fees or something (and to add to my confusion I had also ordered WLTP Mission Style).

Oh well, I still look forward to listening to it once I get home =D

How do you 'accidentally' order two of one copy? All websites give you a chance to review your cart to see if you've made any mistakes AND they give you a final overview of your order before you click, "Yes, this order is correct! Take my money!"

I don't know how I manage to do it, but I am known to be ditzy and out of it. Maybe next time I should just remember not to make an order when I'm stoned

In any case I ended up selling 164, and the others I can always sell or give away to someone who'll appreciate it (like I did with my extra Euromach 3).

Anyone else horrified/amused by the Flavor Flav vocal sample in the remix of Yeah? "YEAH BOY YEAH!"

First impressions of this album are slightly better than the samples (that normally happens). The following tracks grabbed my attention:

NICK TURBO / TOKYO STRIKE FORCE
I didn't expect to be that bothered about this, but that awesome old school bass used from the start is one of my favourite used by Hi-NRG. The verse melody is awesome, and sounds a bit different from the normal fayre from HRG. Chorus isn't as interesting, but ont he whole this surpassed my expectations.

MANUEL / ADRENALINE
I can always rely on Manuel for a great, powerful performance and this is no exception. While I don't believe that it quite reaches the heights of the awesome No Control or Gas, Gas, Gas, the guitar sounds awesome and those falsetto notes really add another dimension to this excellent little track.

ACE WARRIOR / RUNNING FIRE
I love that melancholy guitar intro - it really adds some depth to this one. While I believe that Ace Warrior has given us stronger songs in the past, there is something about the synth melody that really appeals to me. The vocal melody is a bit out-of-tune in general though, which is a shame.

CIAO CIAO / BANG BANG CRASHING OF THE BOOM BOOM
I hate those vocal effects used in the intro - it reminded me of the god awful "Who's Making Love"! Happily, once the synth hook kicks in, this is a non-stop energy boost that really makes you want to dance. Typical HRG, but at the higher end of their spectrum

VANESSA / LOVE & PASSION 2008
I love the synth - it sounds quite Eurodance-ish (wonder if drnrg likes it? ) The song reminds me of loads of classic tracks from the world of dance, pop and italo all meshed together. An excellent little Time female track - and OMGWTFBBQ an actual ending!!

LESLIE PARRISH / BIG BAD AND HOT LOVE
I love the slightly dark intro that this has with the stuttering synths and guitar bursts. Overall, the vocal melody appeals to me, and I think this is one of Leslie's best tracks in a while.

MARK FARINA / ROCK N ROLL
This doesn't actually stand out as much as I was expecting to be honest. Perhaps it's because of the heavy use of guitars in general on this album, this song ends up sounding a bit watered down. Or maybe it's because the sample used one of the best parts of the song overall, and the rest isn't quite as awesome...

CHERRY / REBEL YELL
I've really developed a soft spot for Cherry since Stop Teasing My Heart, and this was heightened by the amazing Yes I Will. This track has fantastic energy, and really cements Cherry as the queen of Eurobeat covers. A fantastic vocal performance as well. One of the best tracks on the album.

As for the rest - I LOVE MY DOG sucks as much as I thought it would, NIGHTSHADE is way too overhyped, LET'S GO WILD sounds wimpish and bland, and the rest I can't really remember

Still, it's better than I thought it was going to be, so well done Avex for making your samples sound rubbish again!

I Love My Dog made me smile all over! Something about the heavy use of harmonies in the synths just gives such a warm, cozy feeling. Seems very much like a Christmas-style song.

No full-on review from me just yet, but this album overall had a much nicer, punchy sound than 185, so this time out the samples have done the album a huge disservice (as they often do!) - glad to hear it!

EDIT: I just found the page in the booklet about who did the remixes... I LOL'ed at Yeah! being remixed by Porno Star XD

The New Generation remix of Yes I Will is unbelievably *awesome* - for once it sounds like a genuinely different take on the song, rather than just the song being butchered to sound marginally different.

Don't much feel like doing a full review, so some random thoughts.

(keep in mind that I can't listen to the samples, so these are all first impressions, in case I mention something that would seem obvious if I'd listened to the samples)

Loving I Love My Dog. Really not the style I expected, but very sweet.

Really enjoying Rock N Roll, and Tokyo Strike Force, two that I weren't really expecting much of. Rock N Roll especially, the chorus is great.

Really *not* liking Let's Go Wild. Might have been a good production around 98/99 or so, but compared to the rest of the album, it's far too subdued, vocals and arrangement.

Don't get the hype behind Nightshade either. The vocals are nicely sung, but coulda used some more layers, and the singer's near impossible to make out, especially in the chorus. Plus the arrangement seems kinda boring.

A-Beat C's kinda meh all around, aside from Hey Hey, which was *really* good. If it wasn't for the other topic mentioning Nuage left A-Beat C, I woulda said this is the song that proves she can take over from Domino and Lolita. The rest of their songs just seem kinda sparse, with that sparkle gone. Running Fire would be better if they got rid of the freaking boring guitar, especially at the start. Just kills the energy level of an otherwise okay song.

Surprisingly enjoyed the TIME songs, especially the remix. That extra touch of the techno helps.
