I kinda prefer this picture from the same model and photo shoot over the one chosen for the cover

The model is so beautiful! And you're right, this photo is better than the one used for the cover. What's her name?
very beautiful. I might just use that photo for a vinyl sleeve once the songs are released. She gives me the impression of what Les might look like. 8)

I don't think their target audience (whatever is left of it) is the otaku crowd like the Exit Tunes series.

Personally, I think anime could do a better job at grabbing "hearts" than a random model.

I'm pretty content with using real models. In my opinion, anime women look practically all the same.

I wouldn't like if there were anime girls

Real models would fit better to SEB covers. Probably, I'd associate anime girls on a cover with anime song eurobeat covers.

I didn't see it that way. The way I saw it is that, since Eurobeat is very upbeat music and that anime is generally pretty upbeat/feel-good looking, I thought both would go together pretty well. Again, I'm an anime fan. So, yeah.

Anime girl covers can get terribly generic.

I still want them to bring back the lazers.

I grew up with anime during my teens during the 90's. I totally love anything by Studio Ghibili as well, but I still think that it has no place in Eurobeat, since Eurobeat is a product of Italo-disco and HI-NRG. Making covers in anime style would only please anime fans, and that leaves out alot of the people who are NOT into anime who do love their eurobeat.

What I think is that the covers need to be more creative, like the crazy covers we had in the beginning of SEB and later on too, with crazy models doing freaky things, and art wasn't just about some pretty girl on the cover, but about experimental art. For example, look at covers during SEB vol. 35-40, or vol. 81-90, vol.151, vol.162, vol.168, vol.184. Now I find those to be more controversial, mysterious, and alluring and out of the norm, which to me, kinda sums up what eurobeat is about.

I think that these covers have more in common with what Eurobeat is about: experimentation, with a sort of non-main stream style. Yes, you can argue that Avex is far from mainstream, and that eurobeat was once king of electronic music in Japan for a while, but the fact that eurobeat is not very well known around the world, comparing it to anything in today's music world, I still wouldn't consider it mainstream in the least. In addition, even though alot of eurobeat might sound the same to the average listener, there has been alot of shifts and changes to eurobeat over the years, and always new things popping in and out, part of the experimental thing I'm talking about.

So yeah, I think we should go back to having weird SEB covers, instead of just putting a good looking model on the cover, and nothing else. Why not use some experimental art stock photo shoots, Avex? Where it isn't just about "look how sexy i am with no brain." Heck, even some creepy drag queen or drag king photo shots with weird, crazy make-up and hair might even fit in better than what we have today! Some of the earlier time records had some weird vinyl sleeves that are better than anything we get today on SEB covers.

Has anyone ever considered that the budget Avex has set for SEB is close to non-existent? So rather than spend money on cover art which let's be real, most people probably don't care about besides the vocal minority, they can use what little, and I can stress that part enough, money they have on licensing and pay the labels?

Yeah, unforunately, graphic designers can cost a lot of money.

I went drnrg mode and threw some things together using the same model.

Maybe too serious.

Yeah, the SEB 101-139 cover style was pretty cool.

Can't say I'm into Animi at all. Those big tits, eyes and asses on cartoons scare me, but I know alot of Eurobeaters got into Eurobeat cuz of that.

That being said, I'd rather the SEB covers looked really interesting like the TIME and AbeatC sleeves of the 90's. Colours, images, themes. Girls are hot but more abstract looking with the laser look of Mindsweeper works for me.

...and if money seems to be an issue. ah yeah, let's be realistic. It doesn't take any $$$ to grab photos of the net, alternate them and make a cover sleeve. :P

It wouldn't take too much $$$ either to take an anime image and ask the author's permission with a small compensation.

eXtaticus and I are probably the only ones to agree with this.

@Mindsweeper Some effort was poured into those, I can tell
