I feel eurobeat has now lost most of its lustre, and really, unless the labels pull out something phenomenal I'll probably stop listening to it all together in the near future. I know I'm not alone in saying this.

Then, I'm probably alone saying that Eurobeat is improving. In fact, everything that is below 170's, I have a lot of difficulty to find anything that pleases me. And, the more it goes, the more I love the albums. SEB 192, 193 and 195 were totally top notch. In the 180's, 182, 184, 186, 187 and 188 were totally mind blowing.

Too bad, I'm the only one thinking this.

though we have a similiar taste in Eurobeat, I can't say I share that sentiment. I don't think I have ever stoped liking Eurobeat for even one second. Even my lesser favourite labels seem to be improving dynamically. I agree with Lebon to the extent that Eurobeat is improving. I'm really enjoying the extendeds and new artists are popping up as well or at least under different names. Just the fact that my top 10 has now become top 20 and someTIMES even top 30 shows how much I'm listening to Eurobeat nowadays 8)

Pretty much just listened to the same songs this week, but I did listen to a few Euromachs. Gold Rake still reigns as champion.

Dr. NRG's Top 20 Eurogrooves

1. Gold Rake- Hurricane Man(Eurogrooves) (1)
No surprise here. Sung by De Leo, sex laden lyrics by Dall Ora and a powerful powerful melody with all the right ingredients keep this reigning champ with a strong hold as the number one Eurobeat song of the moment.

2. David Dima- King Of The World (Dima) (2)
Dee Dee is always a force to reckon with. Powerful "Spacy" sounding Eurobeat is just what the Dr. ordered. Two strong weeks at number 2.

3. Mad Max- Rock You(DELTA) (3)
The top 3 are exactly the same asthey were last week. Claudio "Mad Max" Magnani's comback hit has proved to be quite the surprise hit of the year and takes one back to his debut Mad Max song "Don't Break My Heart"

4. De Leo- Save Another Day For Me(TIME Spa) (5)
Christian De Leo is one of Eurogrooves/TIME most aggressive singers and has been responsible for the number one song in my yearly countdowns for 3 years now, Save Another Day might not be from the Agressive end, but boasts enuff power to push up one more step to number one.

Image

5. Angie Sweet- Valentine's Day(Eurogrooves) (4)
The reigning queen for practically the whole month of February and still in the top 5.

6. Leslie Parrish- My King Is You(DELTA) (7)
We may no longer have those awesome DELTA extendeds from juno, but at least we have this classic from Clara. A great catchy chorus pushes Leslie up one more notch to the top 5.

7. Mike West- Wild Night(TIME) (re)
I made a 6 min+ remix of this song called (come Take My hand) remix and it has gotten positive feedback at the swap meet where I work, so Mike West makes the highest return debut into this week's top 10.

8. Dereck Simon- Stop City Lover(GGM) (9)
...and here is GGM lose in the top 10. Derreck Simon makes a nice comeback with this addictive raceing sounding song.

9. Mike West- All I Want Is You(TIME Spa) (6)
There are two Mike West songs in this weeks countdown. Later on we will see another SEB 184 song make a comeback by Gambogi. This one got as high as number 2, but was cut short due to the awesome aishu song from Angie Sweet.

10. Joe Banana- Wild Boy Bad Love(HRG Attack) (12)
No surprise here as HRG seldom fails the top 10. With Nick Festari's aggressive chaotic vocals all over this song, it's no wonder it's destined for top 5 status.

11. Cruise 009- Mission Impossible(HI-Site) (re)
This classic is from Europanic 5 a series that prematurely got degraded to Nonstop format, but I pulled out the old Audacity program and remixed it to a proper 5 mins extended.

12. Ikon- Panic Fire(Beat Fire) (11)
In it's 4th week in the top 20, the sole survivor from new label BeatFire is hanging around for a vacant spot to enter the top 10 once more.

13. Dave Rodgers feat. Alex De La Rosa- Burning Like Fire(ABeatC) 8
Dave spent one week in the top 10 and drops back out to #13, but count out ABeatC's mastermind yet.

14. Kooky Spooky- Scream Team(SCP) (17)
5 Months later the Japenese are celebrating Halloween? Anyway Scream Team has always been a group that release top notch material and this week the songs jumps up 3 slots closer to the top 10

15. Laura Vox- Bad Gunfire(HRG Attack) (15)
Avex seems to pass up some the labels' best work, esp when it comes to HRG Attack. A label that clearly deserves 2-3 songs per cd. Miss Vox holds steady with her former top 3 smash Bad GunFire

16. Vicky Vale- Italo Beat Boy(DELTA) (19)
Here is one of DELTA's masterpieces that for some odd reason AVEX passed up. It's a former Number one on my coutdown makeing a backwards jump upwards 3 notches.

17. Pamsy & Jay Lehr- Give It All Up To Me(SCP) (13)
This is what I call A really good feel good song. Jay & Pamsy are enjoying thier 5 week in the top 20.

18. Chemical Boy - Back In California(NRJ Mania) (re)
I pulled out my Europanic 2 and actually made a remix of this Chemical Boy song. I always liked it ,but those 2:30 min edits were really bad.

19. Project 2- Ultra Mi-Ha Deluxe(GGM) (debut)
another debut comes in from GGM. Leo River is back and this TIME teams up Mari San, but thier duet works nicely.

20. Fastway- Monsters Ready(SCP) (debut)
The countdown starts with the latest entry form SCPs premier male artisit. A rather pecular title and a theme that is 5 months behind.

You're not the only one with that thoughts.
I think just what you think ;)

Eurobeat is getting worse, I'm only listening to 1995/1996 Eurobeat now, because it was simply the best :)

According to my Last.FM account, my top ten of the week are:
1.) SHY GUN / Oda
2.) SEXY SEXY SEXY / Ken Martin
3.) BYE BYE TOKYO / Delta Queens
4.) DANCER / Mako
5.) KING AND QUEEN <Classic Mix> / Tora
6.) CANDY / Energy Girls
7.) PUT DOWN YOUR GUN / Jungle Bill
8.) WROOM WROOM SUPERCAR / Black Eva
9.) BANDOLERO COMANCHERO / Franz Tornado & The "Mad Cow" Girls
10.) STOP / Domino

Though, I'm 99% sure that "SEX CRIME" / Ken Martin is where "WROOM WROOM SUPERCAR" (considering I don't like that song much). 8D I just haven't listened to it much on my computer. XP
