Eurobeat Prime Presents TC Megamix (updated, see page 3)

Post by Nine » 29 Mar 2007, 22:32

So, here it is! We're going to try this project out to see if we can get together an awesome mix of music with the forum members' picks! Here is some detailed information about the project.

Track List
All songs posted in http://forum.eurobeat-prime.com/viewtopic.php?t=1514 will be the tracks for the mix. The order of the songs will be in groupings of the three tracks per person's list - going from #3, #2, and #1. The group of tracks will then appear in the megamix in alphabetical order of the member's forum name. The music will be limited to Eurobeat, J-Euro, and Italo Disco.

So, for example... if it was just me, Panu, and Sadie participating in this project, the tracklist would look like this:

- Bore -
1. Kiki & Kika / All For Love
2. Pizza Girl / Bang
3. Lolita / Don't You Want My Heart

- Nine -
4. Brian Ice / One Day
5. Domino / Play With The Numbers
6. Go Go Girls / Hot For Your Body

- Sadie -
7. Ace feat Brubell Girl's Child Choir / Holy X'Mas Night
8. Mega NRG Man / Into The Night
9. Mega NRG Man / Into The Music

Mixing
We have tons of talented people here, so mixing all these songs will not be dumped onto one person. To make the project easier for everyone, and more likely to succeed, mixing will be as this:

If you can mix your own top three, appearing in the order you prioritise, then please do that! If you have no mixing talent whatsoever, we will assign some volunteers to mix your three songs together. Then, when all the top three mixes are mixed, I will put them together into one large megamix.

The mixing will have some limitations, but in general you're free to do whatever you want within those limits. Most importantly, the three song mix should not exceed 10 minutes. That gives you 3+ minutes per song, which is more than enough, so this limit shouldn't be so... limiting to one's mixing abilities. Second, we want the track list to be that, the track list - so only use the three songs in such list for the mix. Though, feel free to sample from other songs into your mixes, etc.

If the same song appears once in the same top three list, the first person to post that song in their list will be given that song, and the song will be dropped from the other lists and a replacement will be requested. (We don't want Night of Fire running in the Megamix 8 times, no? hehe)

More mixing info

Just to note, this isn't a 70/70 mix - so we want at least 2 minutes of each song, not 50 seconds to a minute. :D

Deadlines & The Such
The deadline to submit your top three songs will be April 14th, 2007. The cut off number, so the megamix won't turn out to be like 12 hours long, will be 20 people. The priority of entrees will be set by the order of the posts in para_rigby's thread.

The deadline for all mixes to be submitted will be May 31st, 2007. More information will be posted in the future, and the track list will be posted a few days after April 14th, 2007 - for other people's mixing references.

Help!
We need your help. We need some volunteers to help mix some of the people's lists, but mixing won't start till sometime after April 14th, so don't worry too much about it right now. :)

...so, there you go! We will have fun, and this will be awesome!

(we need more!)

Detailed Mixing Information
Here is some more information on what's expected in the mix:

- The submitted file of the 3 song mixes has to be in the MP3 format. (I don't want to search around for different codexs and different programs to convert an array of sound files haha)
- I know people on the forums disagree with quality of sound files, but for the sake of this project we want the mixes to be between 320 - 192 kb/s. (The final mix will be 192kb/s).
- Some people alter BPM drasticly, some people keep the BPM true to the song, so there is no real limitation on BPM. Just concider the song that will appear before your first song, and the song that comes after your last. Also, please try to avoid chipmunking the vocals. haha

Assignments
- Once the final track list is completed, which will be either when we get 20 users or when April 14th comes - we will start to assign lists to people. If you want to tackle a few mixes now, feel free - but beware that you might be mixing a list that they might want to mix.
- If you want to mix your own list, but don't mix super well, don't worry - this is a fan project, and we want it to reflect that in the megamix.
- To make things more organized. By April 14th/When we get 20 people - we will add notes to the track list below this post with the person who will mix it, if it's complete, so on and so on. :)

First off, I'd like to say this is a really great idea, kudos to whoever came up with it. :)

The hard part of this for me will just be posting in that thread... narrowing it down to three will be tough, as its been awhile since I've reasessed my favourites.

I'm more than happy to volunteer for mixing - I need an excuse to do more of it ;)

However, all mixers involved need to use high quality versions of songs - i.e. CDs, high bitrate MP3s, etc - the whole thing is going to sound very inconsistent at the end if it goes from someone like me using CD tracks to someone using a 96kbps MP3 all of a sudden :S

Heh now that the 3 tracks are included I'm uneasy and keep thinking "NO! I should've thought of that and that and that!"
Oh well, the whole idea is still great :3 and I hope someone picks Let The People Say :P

EDIT

Also added the top3 lists from the people that have so far submitted them to the 3rd post.

EDIT

Also the cd quality thing should be arrangeable somehow.

Can I do mine myself? I promise I don't suck, but I tend to mix the way hardcore or dancemania albums get mixed rather than how avex mixes eurobeat.

Edit: Oh yeah, I recommend that everyone renders their 3 song mixes as FLAC or any other lossless format, so that we avoid an extra quality drop that would come from assembling the final mix from a bunch of mp3s of mp3s.

Edit2: I'll do redtarzanboi's songs if he doesn't mind.

edit3: Finished my mix, I'll upload it later today. It starts and ends at 160 BPM.

edit4: okay here it is http://www.megaupload.com/?d=W106HJJG

Are we going to mix it in one big mix, or a lot of little 3-track mixes?

Also; fun idea I'll try to mix my set =D!

we're going to mix them initially as a bunch of 3 track mixes then put them together in one large megamix. :)

I can TRY to mix mine. It may sound a bit crappy but worth a shot XD

EDIT:

Like I said it's kinda crappy XD Definately not perfect and not really smooth per say, but what can you do with just sound recorder as your "mixer" :P

I didn't "finish" it as it may not be the last track on the mix or anything like that

Oops, for some reason I hadn't figured out that the track order was alphabetical with our usernames. I'll change my offer to I'm willing to do the mixing for up to four people surrounding me once we get all 20 people. Take a listen to the mix I did for my songs and tell me if I'm doing a good enough job.
