How would you imagine instrumental Eurobeat...

...if no vocals were intended from the beginning? For myself, I would imagine it like Lupin The 3rd '78 by Ventura in DDR.
Or, a riff that change in intensity/style during the song.

Newfield told me once that he works around the melody/sound of the song before the vocals or lyrics first.
(PS...If I'm wrong, Laurent, don't kill me!!)

There actually is an instrumental eurobeat song - Opera by The Royal Eurobeat Orchestra of Bazookistan (no Mad Cow apparently). It features melodies from Orpheus and William Tell and makes for quite a unique piece of music with its orchestral synths. I heard and got this song from iTunes.

And don't forget the Main Street Electrical Parade (Eurobeat Remix) on Eurobeat Disney 3

They are
examples of what typical instrumental eurobeat would probably sound like...

I really can't imagine just an instrumental eurobeat (yeah...I realize there are those kinds of songs out there) because I think the best part of Eurobeat are the vocal, IMO

Do you mean something like this?

I've had this song for awhile with a StepMania stepfile and I've always found it sounds very eurobeat-like aside from the fact that it's entirely instrumental.

Bunch of guitar solos, maybe? Or a floating synth line?
It'd have to be intense or at least interesting.

I agree that the vocals are best part too. They just bring the song ALIVE!

I was first exposed to eurobeat when there was a company in Louisville KY called Inlytes making aerobic tapes. They usually featured 1 or 2 intstrumental versions of eurobeat music on their tapes. Some of the instrumental versions were just ok and not as good as the vocal versions, but a couple that come to mind that were just as good as the vocal versions:
Jump for Joy by Giorgia Morandia
Give Up by Dr Money (Inlytes mixed a cool fire siren effect in with this version)
Coming for your Love by Mitch and Melanie (more of an italo-disco style song)
They also used Queen of the Night by Gloria J and Bad Girl by Linda Ross in instrumental form.
This was in my early days of eurobeat. I was quite shocked when i heard a vocal version of Give Up because i was familiar with the intstrumental version!
NRG songs can make great instrumentals. While it is more eurodance than eurobeat, there is an instrumental song on the back side of the album Close to You by Fun Factory that i think is one of the most awesome NRG songs ever.
When mixing music, an instrumental is a great break in the mix!

Inststrumental Eurobeat Hi NRG is a thing of the past. It used to be showcased a lot on vinyl from labels like TIME, FLEA,ASIA,HIGH ENERGY, DISCO ENERGY etc..., but like Super Racing mentioned ,it was mainly used in Aerobics tapes. For me the only use it gave me,was when I wanted to pretend to be Gino caria and sing karioki style to TIME songs.

I always liked to listen to the instrumental (and last/dub) versions of songs. SAIFAM and Akyr still sell them!

And don't forget Koto, Cyber People, Marko von Schoenberg and such. More italo than eurobeat but strictly instrumental.
