I think this particular song title/lyric continues to amuse me to this day ever since I heard it Possibly because somehow SCP seemingly managed to take the expression "Easy peasy, lemon squeezy" and misinterpret 'peasy' to 'busy'.

BUT I have no idea if this really was accidental - given that the Japanese wouldn't have the foggiest idea what 'peasy' was supposed to mean, perhaps 'busy' was chosen as an actual English word they could recognise?

If you listen to the singing, all pronunciation of 'busy' strays into sounding like 'peasy' (not that there's a great deal of difference) - so who knows where that came from?

Now, the pronunciation of 'suck' in Hi-NRG songs - there's another enigma entirely!

I'm sure the intended pronounciation was Busy but given the limitation of some artists with the English language, it was pronounced peasy. There are other songs where the lyrics are messed up in the singing. A good example of this is Digital Planet's Fly Away. Evil is pronounced "Ae vil" or Maxx Ducati's Valentino Samurai where Hell is pronounced "heel".

As I understand it 'breezy' is, again, switched in by people who prefer to use a less nonsensical word than 'peasy'.

If you do a search for "easy peasy lemon squeezy" on Google, you'll turn up 19,000+ results - if you search "easy breezy lemon squeezy", you get 466. So I think the original is very much 'peasy'

In any case, anything makes more sense than 'busy', which is even more obscure

My thinking is more "What if they ever released that song in the Western world?" - clearly they'd have to do a name change, because people would take one listen to the chorus and go "Why the hell is it Easy BUSY Lemon Squeezy?!"

I recommend you mailing SCP and ask why it's busy and not peasy. I'm sure someone (Evelina?) will be glad to tell you. And of course, you should tell us. (;

Well, unlike simple pronunciation issues (like 'suck', hehe), this song actually has an entirely bizarre way of spelling a phrase that is otherwise quite common in the West (certainly it was popular when I was a kid!)

Have you paid attention to Goofy DJ in the track? Since he's definitely saying busy and not peasy. I don't know why Kiki/Kika would say it differently for that reason.
