Oingo Boingo (and other 80's bands)

I'm actually going to see Oingo Boingo for their third year in a row of doing Halloween shows, in about two weeks. It's a shame their main singer, Danny Elfman, couldn't make it (he's got tinnitis, as well as a large stack of movies to score), but Brendan McCreary, aka Bt4, does a great job filling in his shoes.

This is gonn'a be awesome. :3

Anyone else know OB, or have an 80's New Wave/whatever band they wann'a give a shoutout to/discuss?

Yesterday I saw Oingo Boingo play live, with Brendan McCreary standing in for Danny Elfman. Safe to say, I've seldom EVER seen such a stellar performance. Even though this was the last Oingo Boingo performance by the specific members, I believe that OB will never die. The fans are just too active and vocal, and the songs too memorable.

LONG LIVE OINGO BOINGO~

hey zoupzuop2 ,I actually only saw this post today, but I'm a n 80's pop freak. My shout out go to Def Leppard and Journey for putting out an awesome two bill show earlier this year. Jack Blades and Night Ranger for thier new CD. The New Cars for keeping the old sound alive. Ric Ocasek(Cars lead singer) for Nexterday(I'm still litsening). Paul Stanley for "Live To Win" and Duran Duran for thier new video for the song "Falling".

I'm sure these bands will never link to this post, but it was fun anyway :D

Ummm, yeah... the full title's just "Little Girls". It's actually NOT about pedophelia... See, Danny lived in LA at the time and was used to seeing 60-something producers dragging around their 18-year-old starlet girlfriends/wives. Think Donald Trump and you'll have the jist.

Right. Think Tom Cruise and Michael Douglas. Just kidding. They are not that old. :P I love that Boingo cd. It also has "Outside" and "Only A Lad" The boyscout on the cover allways struck me as odd. Something perhaps DEVO might use instead.

I think HRG Attack should do a cover of a Boingo song. Perhaps "Little Girls"? :P

Actually, if you notice one of the hands on the Lad, you'll see the irony tied into the song. Then you'll know just how NOT Devo it is.

And, I've already dreamed of that thought. Except, it'd take more than one label to do Boingo justice. So I present:

SUPER EUROBEAT PRESENTS BOINGOBEAT

1) No One Lives Forever-- Scream Team
2) Dead Man's Party-- Dave Rodgers ft. Steve Bartek
3) Weird Science-- Franz "Mad Scientist" Tornado and the Chemistry Girls
4) Only A Lad-- Ace
5) Reptiles & Samurai-- Garcon
6) Little Girls-- <Someone>
7) Good For Your Soul-- Maximum Power
8) Grey Matter-- Daniel
9) Can't See (Useless)-- Norma Sheffield
... the list carries on. :3

Hmm.. Not bad at all. I love the title for Weird Science-- Franz "Mad Scientist" Tornado and the Chemistry Girls. That is so HRG Attack. You definately deserve that avitar 8)

6) Little Girls-- <Someone> Yeah. I can't think of anyone in this era, but back in the 90's that one had Gino Caria written all over it. Maybe Toby Ash , Frank Torpedo, or Thomas T?

No "Just Another Day" . That is one of my favorite Oingo Boingo trax. Though I can't think who would do the cover. Maybe Cherry?

Since someone else bumped the thread, I don't feel too bad replying this late :D

I saw Duran Duran live last year iirc. It was really awesome, they even made a few songs I didn't really like sound really good. The crappy thing was that I was sitting on the 1st level fixed sitting area at the very front, so technically I didn't have to stand up to see them but I was sitting next to boring people who just sat there and did nothing and it was really pissing me off cause it totally ruined the mood. But by the encore I thought to myself, fuck it, and stood up and cheered

They arn't a New Wave band but I did buy tickets to an AC/DC concert next year 8) This time I chose the standing area so this time I HOPEFULLY won't be surrounded by boring assholes who stand there doing nothing.
