A question: what do you think of high pitched vocals? I can't really appreciate them.

For example, almost all female Hi NRG Attack vocals sound extremely pitched. The latest Cindy song is good in my opinion - at least after slowing down by at least 12%. It's far too slow then, but at least the female vocalist sounds normal and nice.

Another example: Fernando Bonini seems to be singing higher and higher each time. His latest Mako is great - but it is very difficult to hear that it is the same vocalist as Tommy K - You Need A Lover or Maio&Co - Feel The Groove. He had a relaxed, cool voice in the past. I understand that his image is aggressive now, but why so high?

Well, I think that the higher pitched vocals add something of a fun energy to certain songs... but the problem is, it's hard to apprecaite someone's voice if it's tweaked out to hell with effects and all that.

Essentially, pitch changes tranform vocals into effects... in my eyes, anyways.

Personally, I'd like to hear Cristiana Cucchi (Bazooka Girl) without all the crazy effects.

in You Need a Lover is was Fernando.

Also you can "supposedly" hear "Chris"'s vocals untouched in Not For Money/Chris and doesn't she also have a song on Euromach?

I'm glad to see that it's not just me that cannot stand those high pitched vocals. Basically I hate them with some exceptions where the pitched vocals work so well and succeed in create something fresh vibe in the songs.

To cite good instances, Clara Moroni's vocals are sometimes higher pitched in the songs like "Jilly - Halloween", "Maggie May - Sing Song", "Niki Niki - Segnorito", "Leila - Happy Happy", "Priscilla - Hello Goodbye" to list a few, but I don't mind them at all 'cause they're perfectly correct to the note of the songs and turn her raw voice into cuter one as could be expected from a innocent bobby-soxer.lol
Another good example is Stefy's vocals on "Kiki and Kika - Easy Busy". I'm not a big fan of happy-girlish tunes myself but it's so cute!!

On the other hand, most of male high pitched vocals are just pain for me. IMHO male vocals should stay macho. I'm disappointed with the vocals on "Mako - In The Night In The Fire" too, cuz I find the song itself awesome.

I've been saying it for a while, I miss actual female singers from HRG. I'm tired of hearing Alvin, Simon and Theodore from the chipmunks from them lol...

The pitched vocals can go too far I think. I think they also isolate a lot of people from liking the genre. Gets too fast and all high pitched, not regarded as real art or singing by some. It's too bad. The singers are all good and don't need it!

I agree; I personally can't stand high-pitch female vocals. I just can't. They're obnoxious.
As for high-pitch male vocals, men naturally can't go as high as women (that's a good thing), so their vocals don't ever get quite as high. If you have a man singing high-pitch, it's annoying, but not nearly as bad as with female vocalists.
I listen to music to hear the actual music and the voice of the person; altering it to an over-whelming amount with effects is a waste.

About the high pitches voice, just listen to the early days of Elena Gobbi.
Her voice sounded much better then ........

I tend to find the effect is made perceivably worse when you hear the songs on megamixes, since they are usually sped up to match the general tempo of the album, thereby taking the pitch up by one or two semitones - which does have a tendency to lend that chipmunk effect

I will agree that the tendency to high vocals has become more frequent in recent years tho.

I don't have a problem with high-pitched vocals to be honest - in general, they are used for songs that would actually sound ridiculous with lower vocals (can anyone imagine Pun Pun Beam sounding as good with someone like Pamsy or Karen singing it, not like that would ever happen but yeah....)

Of course, a big exception is the marvellous Elena Gobbi - if anyone ever complains about her vocals, I shall personally kill them!
