The DRM they use is way too restrictive anyway. The Music Master download service is much more appealing. Just buy the songs and playback on all equipment you've got. Too bad... if AVEX used an open standard, I would have bought a lot of separate tracks.oresama-chan wrote:Having read your post, I visited @music, of which the top page is saying

SUPER EUROBEAT VOL. 169
im sorry to say I DLed this album, but only because im in Hungary right now and am going to Japan in 3 weeks anyway and will buy it there.
HRG totally rocked this CD
I love how Festari sounds different in his two songs (im supposing because of the time gap between them). Get into the Dark Side of my Brain reminds me of Lucky Doom kinda.
i dont think im nearly as disapointed with this CD as everyone else seems to be.

i dont think im nearly as disapointed with this CD as everyone else seems to be.
Here's my viewpoint on this album!
01 - A.Gordon - Say Yeah
The only bad thing I got against this song isn't actually with the song but the name! Can we stop using the Letter. please? (Freddy R., G.Caria, J.Storm). Anyway lol... This song is nice and sexy! Trance/E-Type style synths with old school rhythm blends very nicely here! The vocals are nice and crisp! This is the type of female singing that I really pine for. Strong and energetic! Welcome back Annerley!
5/5
02 - Candy Taylor - Eurobeat Kind Of Love
The trance synths continue with this song and the dance oriented rhythm is rather shocking actually. A new direction from Delta produced by M. Capaldi. It's a very nice move to introduce something rather dance oriented. I enjoyed this song a great deal! Clara vocals are spot on and strong!
5/5
03 - Gipsy Baby - Oh Honey Oh
Rather slow for a SAIFAM song (which I have no problem with at all ^_^). Follows a similar pattern as to the previous songs (Trance/Eurodance synths) but seeing as this is 3B, you shouldn't be all to surprised by the synth section. When the A-Melo repeats, I love the little percussion solo. While not as special as the previous two songs, it is such a nice move by 3B! I likey!
4/5
04 - Lou Grant - Maharaja Night 2006
It's kinda odd to hear Gino Caria on a current SEB album. Especially with contemporary synths. While not my favorite Gino song (Time wise, not including his work on A-Beat C or Vibration), this is a very interesting remix. The structure is totally identical to the old Maharaja Night so while it is a remix, it doesn't sound totally new (compared to how Ding A Ling 2006 was done). Not a bad song but the second most dissapointing remake of a previous Eurobeat song unfortunately (Love Is Danger 2005 is currently my least favorite).
3/5
05 - Bombers - Mr. Frankenstein
It's obvious what the theme of this CD is. Trance effects all around. While the bassline and most of the synths in the majority of the song is the same from previous SAIFAM songs, the intro and the EXTREMELY nice background singing make this song feel different. I was surprised by this release, in a good way! While not as shaking as Disco Energy, I was thrilled by this song! Though I would have waited till SEB 172 to release this song! (that way its released for Halloween!)
5/5
06 - Lolita - Hot For Your Love
A-Beat C is really changing the style of Lolita. No longer is her voice being pitched obscenely. In fact its almost the same level of SEB 150 DVD. It's a softer style than previous Lolita releases but its still very energetic! I'm kinda surprised that the song title doesn't have the word "fire" in it! It's a rather nice song but doesn't totally blow you away. Still very good!
4/5
07 - Garcon - Super Kaiser
Previously released on Tornado & Friends, this represents the old HRG. the sound effects used in the beginning (especially the Pac-Man wah wah wah popo!) made me laugh! For the most part, I found this song to be typical HRG though it does have a pretty interesting intro. But after a few times listening to it, I didn't find much to it. I'm just not a fan of this style of HRG. It's been done before. Usage of the same instruments time and time again in a very similar matter numbs you to it.
3/5
08 - Norma Sheffield - Love Can Be Your Game
Gorgeous intro and gorgeous intrumentation (a modification on the new Digital Planet instruments) but the style is typical Norma, which can be a bad or good thing depending on your tastes. Unfortunately for me, this song is too mellow for me. Her vocals are really nice in this song but I feel like she's stuck on this easy mellow style. Changing things up every so often keeps things fresh!
2/5
09 - Kiki & Fancy - Roly Poly Rock
WOW! Very energetic and power! It almost feels as if the highly tuned guitar is singing like DJ Goofy! The singing is so nice! Very killer synth section in the intro! You can't be sad listening to this song! This song just made me really happy! Currently my favorite Kiki & Fancy song next to their grouping with Van T.K. on Make Your Move. Very very amazing!
5/5
10 - Yellowfin - Welcome To The Beach
Mostly Freddy Rodgers with backing by Nuage which makes for a very cool combo! This is very reminicent of older A-Beat C stuff. Not much to say other than it's a very cool song!
4/5
11 - Rose - Magic Rainbow
What I said about Norma applies here. I'm not too much of a fan of the very mellow sounding typical girl eurobeat. Sounds like it goes offbeat too when it goes from the B-Melo to the Sabi. Sounds very much like a disco ballad. Not horrible but I'm really expecting more from Time.
3/5
12 - CY-RO - Get The Dark Side Into My Brain
THIS IS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT! Mix the style of Lucky Doom with Virtual Love and Sexy Sexy Sexy and you got a good idea of this song. Wow... No offense to Mr. Festari but I never thought he could really impress me with his vocal abilities till I heard this song. He's usually very silly and stretching the words to make it sound very silly. But in this song his singing is very very nice. And the background vocals (while I believe shouldn't be from the start to the end of the song) aren't annoying at all. The female background singer is actually pleasing to listen to! This is so refreshing! Thank you Mr. Festari and HRG!
5/5!
13 - Christine & Van T.K. - Now Celebrate
Very odd pairing but then again wasn't pairing Van T.K. with Kiki & Fancy odd? Strong disco emotional feel mixed with powerful singing hits me in a very nice way. Van T.K. seems to fit in well and adapt to whomever he's singing with. I really like the post sabi they have. Adds some spice to this song! Just beautiful!
5/5
14 - Neo - Disco Fire
Originally scheduled for release on 162, then 163, then wasn't mentioned for a long while. It finally surfaces on 169! I kinda felt like I was listening to a mix of Burning Desire and Back On The Rocks (which incidentily use the same synths in the intro as Disco Fire). Rather speedy for A-Beat C too. At about 158 to 159 bpms per minute when A-Beat C's releases are usually in the 150 to 155 range. It's a very cool song and reminicent of Mega NRG Man (which isn't a bad thing). Very very cool all around! Neo's vocal style changes slightly in this song (no Uohoh! in this song haha)
5/5
15 - Sophie - Drive In The Night
Anyone else feel like they were watching an episode of Night Rider when the beginning of the song was playing? Hehe... man I'm really showing my age... While it's slow like the Rose song, it's in no way as mellow as that song. This song is very energetic! Very strong from Elena compared to most of her songs on Time. Very different than most Time songs too. Probably why I like it so much!
5/5
16 - SCP All Stars - Big Heart
Ace, Pamsy, Kiki & Fancy, Fastway, Melissa White, Christine, Nick Mansell, Van T.K. and I could have sworn I heard David Ropa... At least those are the ones I think are in this song. I'm not too sure about the Fastway too. I'm only guessing on Fastway due to the "C'MON! C'MON!" Anyway, the trance effects is back in full effect. The only knock I really have against the song is the fade out ending. But other than that this song is exciting and beautiful! Great great sound!
5/5
17 - Alvin - Dream Of You
Domino was a hard song to beat, but I really think this song did it for me! The trance keys (very reminicent of those in Dancemania releases) used in the song and the way the sabi is setup is very very sexy. "And I dream of you just to dream of you" Very sentimental. I love it a great deal! It's a fantastic song released by 3B!
5/5
18 - Ale - If You Ever Leave Me
Typical Leonardi style synths (Heavy trance oriented) rounds out this trancebeat package that is 169. I believe the vocalist is Clara and the style is a mix of Cody and I Believe In Music by Suzy Lazy. Very powerful and energetic which is very cool. It fits in the feeling of Cody and D.Essex which is where I like my Leonardi produced Eurobeat to be at. I enjoyed it a great deal as with the majority of this CD!
5/5
Final Grade - 4.5/5
Plain and simple a very powerful trance oriented album. HRG surprised the heck out of me with Get The Dark Side Out Of My Brain and SCP was as always; amazing. 3B impressed me by not offering the same but changing in small but interesting ways. Female's weren't too wimpy in this album. During the 150's and most of the 160's, the females weren't that strong as they are in this CD. The real shame was that Gino Caria's remake wasn't as impressive as it should have been. Time made it up with Sophie though and all the labels provided extremely good stuff! Nice album!
01 - A.Gordon - Say Yeah

I'd say Clara only does the backing vocals... The lead vocalist doesn't sound like her at all IMO.redtarzanboi wrote:18 - Ale - If You Ever Leave Me

Trans Trans Trans
I have to say everytime I see these words , I think twice about buying an SEB, but then I listen to it and I do not hear Trans. So iether your idea and mine differ in what we call trans or eveything sounds trans to you. The only label that sometimes offends me with those effects is SCP duets.
Other than the word trans, your review seems to be very flattering to the labels, which definately makes me wanna get this cd

Well if you look at what I said about Trance I was talking about the synth lines. For example on Say Yeah by A.Gordon "Trance/E-Type style synths with old school rhythm blends very nicely here!" It's not a trance song but it has synths that are typical in Trance music. Though I swear the intro from Eurobeat Kind Of Love reminds me so much of Cascada's style. Trance and Eurobeat are two different monsters with different backgrounds but every so often, they borrow each others motifs and provide different yet similar results.
You can hate me but you know you have quality issues =p
Trance - and PLEASE STOP USING THAT TERM!! Eurobeat does not sound like Trance - it's closer related to the catchy melodies of Eurodance, which is a lot more melodic and easier on the ear!
Anyway, moving on...
This album is a bit hit and miss for me, although there are a few songs that I absolutely love (namely Super Kaiser, Big Heart and the awesome Dream Of You)

E-Type is a Eurodance artist. And Cascada is also firmly in the commerical Eurodance genre, although many people are trying to blur the boundaries by claiming it as "Commercial Vocal Trance". This is where people start to get confused - basically, E-Type and all other artists like him are not Trance - Trance typically has much more complex and lush synth melodies and layers that build and build gradually, whereas Eurodance generally has only one main synth hook (like Eurobeat) that stands out from all the rest.redtarzanboi wrote:"Trance/E-Type style synths with old school rhythm blends very nicely here!"

I have to agree with ditz man here, people are REALLY starting to blur the lines between what is trance and what isn't. Although I understand that it's the easiest way to describe what the synth lines are starting to sound like, don't start to confuse it for what it's not.
Then again if you don't listen to trance in the first place, I guess it's hard to really make the distinction
; But I do have to say that E-Type IS as Eurodance as you can get lol.
Then again if you don't listen to trance in the first place, I guess it's hard to really make the distinction

Guys listen up. I'm not calling anything trance or eurodance. I'm only saying that the synths and instrumentations used on this album are ones that are more commonly used in trance. I use trance or eurodance to only give people an idea of what the synths and instrumentation sound like. Chill out if I compare for example Eurobeat Kind Of Love to Cascada. If thats what it sounds like to me, who are you to say I shouldn't say it sounds like it? I know the difference between trance, eurodance and eurobeat. Cascada is Vocal Trance, E-Type is clearly Eurodance and obviously this album is eurobeat. But they all are beginning to share similar instruments, patterns and setup. I wouldn't be surprised if M. Capaldi followed the style used by Cascada to get people interested in Eurobeat Kind Of Love. To the person who doesn't listen to Eurobeat like us, they'll just call anything "techno" but I took this CD and was playing it where I worked since I'm in charge of the music of the place, and most people were like "this is so Cascada". Lines are being blurred. Don't get offended. Hell even the labels themselves are using the term "trance" which is where I got it from. Check Pamsy's profile on SCP "SCP created a trancy style you can find in some of her songs". And look on Akyrmusic "Eurobeat meets trance and techno". theres that nasty t word again. Even in my messaging to several producers, they mention the usage of trance instrumentation. They're not ashamed because thats what is popular.

Hey drnrg, you remember the label that used trance stuff first very obviously in their eurobeat songs? Yes, it was TIME records! Remember Helena - Voices on SEB 121? And after that, we had Toby Ash - My Love Is Forever on SEB128. Great songs, by the way, but certainly with trance influences.drnrg wrote:Trans Trans TransI have to say everytime I see these words , I think twice about buying an SEB, but then I listen to it and I do not hear Trans.

^ I'm pretty sure he knows that. XD Akyr has a sound that incorporates all, at least, that's the feeling I get.
Anyway, back on subject temporarily....
The top five songs I think really stood out (good or bad);
01.) A. Gordon - Say Yeah
This is a great come-back for Ms. Gordon! "On My Own 2006" was very nice, "Get Up & Move It" was good, and "Say Yeah" is just awesome! I'm not a huge fan of some of the lyrics, but all-in-all, this song is great. I missed Gordon not being on SEBs for so long, and I'm happy she's back! I hope she keeps it up!
04.) Lou Grant - Maharaja Night 2006
I can't stop listening to it! I really like this 200X version! I know some people aren't going to be too taken by it, but I like how it sounds when compared to the original, and I think Gino Caria sounds great with the new sound of eurobeat. Too bad he's not still around, he would sound even better then he did back in the 90s! I really like it! Two thumbs WAY UP to Time this time 'round!
07.) Garcon - Super Kaiser
Oh Heaven.... No more. Please, no more. The intro was nice, but once the actual song started, all my expectations were gone. Faded. What's up with HI-NRG Attack and those high-pitch female vocals during the chorus? I mean really.... Please, normal female vocals. Don't pitch them so high. Also, isn't it possible to sing about a more normal subject? I'm just wondering. Not a horrible song, just leaves so much to be desired.
14.) Neo - Disco Fire
I know I'm not alone when I say the music (synths) sound like "Burning Desire" and "Back On The Rocks" brand new and rehashed; the intro imparticual. I like the song, I just can't help but get the feeling it could have been better. Y'know? Very nice song, and good vocals from Neo.
15.) Sophie - Drive In The Night
When I first heard this song, I was expecting something really good from Time for once.... This is, of course, as far as their softer female songs go. Well, I was wrong. The intro left me with some hope, but as soon as the actual song began, all was gone. Just another happy-bubbly-female song. I was very dissapointed. Nothing more to say about it on my part.
Just my thoughts of course. =D

I guess my post did seem like I was singling you out and I should have been more specific. What I was trying to get across was that it seems everyone is blurring the lines between what is trance what isn't and maybe some don't know or care which is unfair to trance because people are starting to think of things that aren't trance as trance.redtarzanboi wrote:Guys listen up.
Also I recognize that it's the easiest way to describe a synth hook at times, but I just find that recently people are starting to generalize things too much and are calling a lot of things trance that aren't quite so. Just because something has synths, and they don't sound eurobeat-ish doesn't make them "trancey" right away.
Really didn't mean to set you off like that, my post was more of just commenting on what the ditz had said.
Nah you didn't set me off. I'm just frustrated that people automatically think "oh he said trance... trance sucks! Eurobeat rules over all!" When in reality if you look at all of Eurobeat, it borrows elements from all of music. For example the lovely Rainin' In My Heart by Melissa White and Ace borrows Spanish elements while Only For Love Only For You by Phil clearly is a throwback to disco. Obviously what we're discusing here is Eurobeat plain and simple just people need to realize that elements from all music is being used in Eurobeat now. Trance happens to be the main focus since that is what is really popular now in the clubs, Europe and Japan.
You can hate me but you know you have quality issues =p
