Eurobeat Challenge 2006

Post by para_rigby » 18 Jul 2006, 21:23

Okay, here's something I came up with. This is a Eurobeat trivia game. There will be 25 questions in 5 different catergories. Each question will have a different point value. In 7 days, I'll tally up points to find our winner. Please don't use outside sources, only your memory, please.

Section 1:
Name That Vocalist (1 pt- 5pt Questions)
I will give one or more aliases for a vocalist. Give the real name for the singer...(hence, their name in Italian!)

1. Mirka, Juliet, Domino (1 pt)

2. Roxanne, Lolita, Virginelle (2 pt)

3. Melissa White (3 pt)

4. Maltese, Ken Hunter, Danny Keith (4 pt)

5. Baby Bazooka (5 pt)

::::

Section 2:
What Were They Saying? (All 5pt Questions)
In this catergory, the questions will consist of the artists' POV as they are singing the song...what are they referencing to in these songs?

1. Virginelle: "In 'Body Feels Exit', I'm sitting down where?"

2. Go Go Girls: "In 'Please Tell Me Why', what word do you not seem to know?"

3. Go Go Girls: "In 'Electric Woman', when will you turn me on?"

4. Mako: "In my song, 'In The Stars', I'm waiting for that special someone. Who is it?"

5. Domino: " 'Euroboy' is dancing to what?"

::

Section 3:
Artist Meets Song (1pt-5pt)
In this easier section, all you have to do is tell me who sings the given song.

1. Try Me (1 pt)
2. Power Gun (2 pt)
3. Gotta Have You Baby (3 pt)
4. Alien Light (4 pt)
5. Stop N Go (5pt)

::

Section 4:
Kicking Out Songs (1pt- 5pt)
In each question, three song titles appear. 2 of 3 song titles will match the artist who sung them. Kick out the wrong song.

1. Lolita: Try Me, Fantasy, Move Your Body (1pt)
2. Domino: Gimme 5, Fuku Wa Uchi, You Better Bring Your Love (2pt)
3. Za Za: Only You, In The Heart of Rome, Down Down (3pt)
4. Matt Land: Rock My Heart, Change The World, Heigh Ho (4pt)
5. Sophie: It's A Rainy Day, Like An Angel, Close Your Eyes (5pt)

::
Section 5 (All 5 point questions)
Random Questions

1. What A-Beat C album is full of new age/ambient eurobeat tracks?
2. Luca Torchiani has worked with what three labels?
3. What Cherry song fuses Eurobeat and Hyper Techno together?
4. In "Kobra Is My Killer" where is the movie being shot at?
5. What artist has helped write songs for the alias Dr.'s Girl, but also appeared as the hyper techno vocalist, The Prophet?

So presumably we PM our answers to you rather than post them here? Otherwise it makes it kind of easy to cheat ;)

You can post your answers on this thread. Once the right answer is given for a particular question, that question will be highlighted in red.

I guess it was a first come first servr basis.
Section 4(5)= Sophie does not sing "Close Your Eyes"
Section 4(1) Isn't "Fantasy" a Virginelle song" Thus making Lollita an incorrect artist?
Section 4(4) "Change The World" is Max Alto

Section 3(5)= Stop N Go- Ric Fellini TIME recs 1484. Though it is spelled "Stop and Go", but Claire Deny also sings "Stop N Go" (SEB81)(another TIME filled cd)So give me the points too!
Section 3(3) The only "Gotta Have You Baby" I can recall is K.L. Jones on SEB 55( I know this only because one of my fav. Dr. Money songs(Roppongi Nights) appears on that CD) Plus I can see that U are especially fond of ABeatC, so I should be right? :D

Section 5 (3) Depends on what you call Hyper Techno. I personally always thought the intro and break in "Yesterday" was totally out of place? So my answer is "Yesterday"

Section 2(1) Virginelle "Body feels Exite" oh I don't know...His Cock? :shock:

It would have been cool to also give points for giving correct answers to the songs in section 4
Only You= Virgin and Claire Deny
You Better Bring Your Love= Claire Deny

Hmm.... I think you are secretly a TIME Slave. Like Me :D

Anyway, I did this mainly for fun, but gimmi points when applicable. :lol:

Stupid time zones...
When I went to sleep the topic didn't even exist and now almost every question is answered. ^_^;
There should be an answer limit like in the Lyrics Quiz. :P
(By the way, I'm still waiting for Round 2... ;))

Anyway...
Section 5
1. What A-Beat C album is full of new age/ambient eurobeat tracks?
Heaven: Eurobeat Meets Healing Style

Oh, I also have a certain quiz idea...
The best thing is it wouldn't allow any cheating. :P
Almost every Eurobeat song has a specific synth hook/intro.
What do you think about a Guess That Intro quiz with short mp3 samples to recognize?

Here's an example - wonder who can get this one? :twisted:
One of my favourite classic Eurobeat tunes BTW...

I already put that in mine, and apparently, that wasn't the answer (even though I swore it was).

Your idea about short mp3 intros is good too; that'd be interesting!

Very good! :)

I'll probably do a quiz when I come back from vacation - I'm leaving tomorrow for about 2 weeks and I won't have access to my Eurobeat collection.
If anyone else wants to do a similar quiz, go on - I'd be more than glad to participate! :D

Eight songs. Twenty seconds. With a common (and pretty darn obvious) thread.

Have fun.
