Once in a while I like to introduce my friends (as I live in the US) to eurobeat. It seems that they develope a liking towards eurobeat similar to how I have come to enjoy eurobeat. Initialy I liked very few tracks, mostly the fast abeat/SCP tracks, while neglecting a lot of the older Eurobeat from the SEB serie (basically 1-80). However, after listening to eurobeat for quite sometime my taste became quite flexible where I am able to enjoy all sorts of variations such as Hi-nrg attack for its wackiness, Delta for its unique structure, ARD (the newer ARD hit me as fantastic but I eventually developed a liking to the older BBB/ARD), and Time (mostly in the older SEB) was amazing.
So I guess from personal experience, I think I would throw a compiliation that would somewhat cause the audience to possibly lean towards developing a curiosity to the genre of "Eurobeat," and, if they enjoy it, expand their tastes ^^

Bleh too much text. Anyway here would be my compiliation...meh I would just go with 10 extended tracks

1. Lets Go Come On- Manuel
2.Sunday- Nauge
3. Rock me tonight- Live Electric Rockband
4.Speedway- Niko
5.Fire on the Beat- Ace Warrior
6. Think of you-Lolita
7.Rambo- Mister Max
8.Goodbye Yellow brick road- Wain L
9.Pride- Dave
10.Raising Hell- Fastway

Meh it does look a tad baised, but this is from going on the tracks my friends enjoyed XD

Hmm, first and foremost I'd want tracks which introduce EB in a "relatable" fashion - however difficult that could end up being ;) But certainly SCP is a good choice due to their more Western club-like sound.

In any case:

01 Dr. Love - "Eurobeat"
02 Lisa Lion - "Big On Emotion"
03 Dark Angels - "Right Now" (Euro Power Mix)
04 Ace - "Power Of Sound"
05 Candy Taylor - "Destiny"
06 A.Gordon - "Say Yeah"
07 Cherry - "Stop Teasing My Heart"
08 Luna - "Guardian Angel"
09 D.Essex - "Boom Boom Fire"
10 Cody - "Back To You"
11 Madison - "Without You"
12 Manuel - "Sun In The Rain"
13 Lolita - "Easy"
14 Wain L - "Make Up Your Mind"
15 Christine - "Me, Myself & I"
16 Lou Grant - "Don't Stop The Music"
17 Dave & Nuage - "Car Of Your Dreams"
18 Bazooka Girl - "velfarre 2000"

Hm, in my mind;

01.) Goodbye Yellowbrick Road / Wain L
02.) Boom Boom Fire / D.Essex
03.) 777 / Fastway
04.) Get Another Chance / Mega NRG Man
05.) On My Own / Annerley Gordon
06.) Deja Vu / Dave Rodgers
07.) Let's Go, Come On / Manuel
08.) Money Money Money / Roxanne
09.) Running In The 90s / Max Coveri
10.) I Love You / Kevin Johnson
11.) Night Of Fire / Niko
12.) Baby Baby / Mr. Groove
13.) Save Me / Leslie Parrish
14.) Original Sin / Powerful T.

I know a fair amount of the songs above have been in Initial D, but some just seem like a good selection.

Yikes, I can't believe I'm seeing stuff like "Livin' On A Prayer" making lists :P The most I'd go so far as to include for covers/remixes would be something like TIME's "Another One Bites The Dust" or "Dragostea Din Tei", but "Livin' On A Player" would be just plain suicide...

Keeping in mind the Americans I would definately add remakes like "Heaven" and "Dragost Din Tie" My idea would be releasing 5 different cds showcasing each label as individuals, but if I would release a comp, I would keep in mind that America is not ready for crazy Eurobeat. here is my selection

The Disco Revival Attack

1. Stephy Martini- Emotions
2. Jean Love- Movin Up, Movin Now
3. Kevin Johson- Gotta Be Your Lover
4. Phil- Crazy & Ready
5. Niko- It's My Life
6. Madison- Without You
7. Stylophones- Hold On To Love
8. Rick Castle- Ride In The Night
9. Nuge & Sonia- I'm Never Gonna Let You Down
10. Mike Hammer- Heartbreaker
11. Sophie- Drive In The Night
12. Mellisa White- My Wish
13. O Zone- Dragota Din Tie
14. Van T.K.- Take Another Chance
15. Dusty- I Wanna Take A Chance
16. Dave Rodgers- Shake
17. Leslie Parrish- Victim
18. Queen 26- Inside Your Heart

These are in no way my favorites, but I think Americans get scared easily and need to be gradually introduced to Eurobeat. I think this cd would be nicely accepted. :D

Sooner or later they will be begging for songs like "Shock Out" , "Pride", and "Get Into The Darkside Of My Brain"

Well for one thing, Eurobeat would have to be slowed down (which is what I end up doing to most of the songs with "Amazing Slow Downer" anyway to most songs since I'm more of a fan of slower songs) to about 140-145bpms (preferably lower) at most. (Here comes the controvertial word warning!) Most americans would compare it to trance simply because its "techno" and will try to compare it to Cascada or DHT or DJ Sammy. For it to be successful the speed would have to be relatively similar or suffer the "man this sounds like crazy videogame music" effect. As such, I chose the following songs based both on lyrics and the overall sound. Now realize the above (except for what I said about slowing down songs for myself) is what would be required since Americans outside of the DDR crowd are not ready for songs with bpms of 155+ for the most part. I'd make it either a nonstop or Europanic radio edit style 20 song CD. Here's my CD. Of course handle by JZF Productions! (Jion Zero Filler Productions!)

JZF Presents: "Till The Break Of Dawn!!" Volume 1

1. Ace - Power Of Sound
2. Pamsy - Dancin' Alone
3. Nando - Toyboy
4. Fastway - Make Or Brake
5. Candy Taylor - Eurobeat Kind Of Love
6. Nuage - Don't Wanna Lose You Baby
7. Mike Hammer - Shock Me
8. Max Coveri - Bye Bye Baby
9. Susy Wender - I Can Feel You
10 - Sophie - Tell Me Why
11 - Melissa White - Lay Your Love On Me
12 - Sophie Sanz - Ever & Ever
13 - Dusty - I Wanna Take A Chance
14 - Rocket Man - Rocket Man
15 - Stefy Martin - Heart's On Fire
16 - Big Town Guy - John 'N' Mary Dance
17 - Eurofunk - Stop To Give Up
18 - Pamsy - Walking In The Shadow
19 - Lou Turner - The River Of My Heart
20 - SCP All Stars - Big Heart

SCP - 7
Time - 4
Discomagic - 1
Hi-Site - 1
Delta - 3
A-Beat C - 2
Akyr - 2

I think I will make this CD with some modifications to the track positioning. I'll make it a nonstop and maybe I'll post it in media with the slowed down songs but I know for a fact I'm gonna get backlash for slowing down the songs lol... But it's a good CD for the American audiences and in time after hearing the songs, sped up songs would slowly come into play but this is of course the only if situation.
You can hate me but you know you have quality issues =p

Bizarrely enough, I think Suzy Lazy's "Love Generation" would have gone done a storm a few years ago in the Western market, given its somewhat slower pace in the face of other, faster Eurobeat - maybe even popular today ;-)

I think I'll revise my album song list:

1. Dragostea Din Tei (EB Mix)/ O-Zone
2. Got To Be Your Lover/ Kevin Johnson
3. Wake Me Up/ King and Queen
4. Emotions/ Stephy Martini
5. Rain/ Christine
6. Bang Bang/ Cherry
7. Because I Need You/ Lolita
8. My Valentine/ Ace
9. Oh Baby Call Me Now/ Groove Twins
10. Boom Boom Dollars/ King Kong and D Jungle Girls
11. Shy Gun/ Oda
12. Change The World/ Max Alto
13. Burning Like A Flame/ Denise
14. Poison Of Love/ Melissa White & Ace
15. Music C'mon/ Go 2
16. Fool For Your Loving/ Jean Love
17. She's Alright/ Cherry
18. Drive In The Night/ Sophie

In response to the whole Niko covering Bon Jovi thing...which is worse: "Living On A Prayer" by Niko or "Not Gonna Get Us" by Dave Rodgers? Case closed on that one.

I thought it would be good to have covers on here...that's why I put Cherry's cover of Nancy Sinatra's "Bang Bang" on the list. Great song in general even if it's not a good eurobeat song per se.

Cherry's cover of Bang Bang is great even as a eurobeat song!!! (It's a cover of Cher though, Nancy Sinatra covered her)

Hmmm after reading some of these charts I've been having a diffult time trying to create my list... But figured it'd be somewhat of a vs. thingie with women & men. And also figured if it was done now it'd only inclue new stuff and to show some variety the genre has. And felt strongly that HI-NRG Attack might not be the kind of stuff to put on this sort of a compilation....

Eurobeat Allstars: Girl Power vs. Male Energy

1.Pamsy - Livin' In The Night
2.Queen 26 - Inside Your Heart
3.Mickey B. - Snowgame Fighters
4.Christine - Me, Myself & I
5.Lolita - Don't You Want My Heart
6.Susy Wender - Runaway
7.Madison - Without You
8.Lisa Lion - Wonderful Feeling
9.Kevin & Cherry - Chemical Love
10.Van T.K. And Kiki & Fancy - Make Your Move
11.Ace - My Valentine
12.Dave Rodgers - Eldorado
13.Manuel - No Control
14.Fastway - Shock Out
15.Lupin - Black U.F.O.
16.Big Town Guy - John 'N' Mary Dance
17.Powerful T. - Original Sin
18.Go 2 - Super Striker

SCP: 7
A-Beat C: 6
Time: 1
Delta: 3
BBB: 1
HI-NRG Attack: 0
