Conduct In Eurobeat Prime

Post by Jion » 15 Feb 2007, 08:14

I've noticed this for a while and I wanted to address it now. I've noticed a great deal of unrest and bitterness to a certain extent from many of our members here on Eurobeat Prime towards each other. Now I'm not Panu, but I believe the reason for Eurobeat Prime was to have a place where everyone could talk and have fun about Eurobeat. But it seems like whenever a new album is released, we have downright negative criticism about not only the songs, but the people that like certain songs. Of certain example is when it seems like Nine has something to say about not liking a song, everyone goes after him and Domino which I feel is utterly wrong. Or when drnrg likes a certain TIME (sorry I had to do it buddy lol... I love it when you capitalize TIME) song and everyone gives him hell for it. It just seems a great deal of people are very partisan when it comes to their music and will negatively comment someone that doesn't like or disagrees with their favorite song or songs. Me and drnrg have never always seen eye to eye on songs, especially Time songs simply because I'm more of a huge fan of SCP though lately Time, in my opinion, has been showing many strong songs which is why the label has been getting high votes from me, however we have always respected each others opinion which is why I always value everything he's put here on this forum. Same with Nine and his fandom of Domino. I might not be a huge fan of Domino as he is but I definitely do like some of her songs and like to hear what his opinions are. Maybe it'll open my eyes to her music more much the same way drnrg has influenced me to go back and listen to some Time songs (especially Shock Me by Tension! Thank you so much for that recommendation a while ago!) and really see why people like those songs. This posting was meant to be put up a while ago but I finally was able to get all my thoughts across in a cohesive manner. Obviously we can't all be perfect like me and Mikaeru with our fascination of SCP (just a joke guys ) but lets try to make our posts a lil more civilized.

I bet if Domino wrote that post, Nine would agree with it.

Criticism and direct insults are different in my opinion. I know I am biased towards certain labels, but that is totally thanks to their production values and style and that's all.
I am not the biggest Time fan as of lately, but that doesn't mean I won't enjoy a song they produce here or there. If I dislike a song by Time, or any other label I will directly say it. I dunno if people see some context in my reviews but I at least am not directing them as any red sheets towards anyone.

All comes down the actual music for me, but yes. I do sign what Jion said. It's not exactly bitterness in my opinion, but there's a certain tone of sarcasm often included. How people take it, it's a different matter though. Let's all be carebares and show teeh <3.

But we all know SCP is the best and all other labels suck. ;P

Now, I've been lurking EP for a while, and recently started posting some more, and I don't really think there's that much of 'hatred' (if I can call it that way) between the members. I think most of us are mature enough to know it's mostly based on opinions, and tastes do differ.

And all that fanboy-ism that's hanging around is kind of funny to see too. And, as you said redtarzanboi, it's indeed a good thing to read other reviews neutral, so you can perhaps discover a song that you first didn't care too much about. Might not be from your favorite label, but food from some other cook than your favorite can be good too. ;)

That said, I'm gonna bug Toni and tell him how his taste in eurobeat sucks ahahahaha :P

I don't understand why needs to push only a label or a band/singer. I like Eurobeat, I have favorite songs from all of the labels.
Yes, I am an Asia records freak, but this is a tradition at me.
There are shit songs on Asia too. Just like at other labels. And there are greatest hits too.
Eurobeat style what we like here, am I right or not?
...I remember that time...

I agree that there is no need to bash people for their tastes in Eurobeat songs/labels, but equally there seems to be a culture of people who rate a particular song/label so highly that they bash anyone who disagrees with them. The pendulum swings both ways, sadly.

I've observed the same as Jion, too. So, it was nice to see him type that up. :)
I'm all for criticism, but some comments/posts I've read are... Just obnoxious, frankly.

I like all the labels one way or another. Old Hi-NRG Attack and Time were awesome, though I tend to not generally be fond of their newer materials.

I'm an A-Beat C and SCP shipper (sometimes a Delta one as well), what can I say?? haha.

I was wondering when someone would notice.. :o

I can see people expressing opinions, but hating on someone for liking/disliking a certain song or label is no good...

For example, check out the "Eurobeat songs that make your ears bleed" thread. :P

Indeed, I see a lot of negativity towards Hi-Nrg Attack ALAS  . Hahaha I kid, anyway it is nice to see this come up. Seriously, there should be more concern on how far criticism can go for label bashing is really not too appropiate (or artist bashing as well). Also it would be nice to give a reason why you don't have much of a taste for it because it is more interesting rather than just saying "I HATE CATTERPILLAR MAN!"

I don't think my review (with the exception of the grade) was too negative.

11 - Jungle Bill - Caterpillar Man

With so much going on in the song, I never thought I would be so bored with a song. The structure of the song is new especially in regards to how they have the singing. The lyrics are atrocious which is to be expected. The last part of the chorus seems to be taken out of Bazooka Man as the Man and the last few notes are reverb and taken from Bazooka Man. I didn't expect much from this song and was left with much less... It just doesn't seem like a cohesive song as each part is going off in different directions.

1/5

It just wasn't one of my favorites lol... I know many people didn't like Dave & Nuage's songs, Love Me Or Leave Me or Another Miracle but I loooove those two songs much the same way you loved Caterpillar Man. In short words Caterpillar Man wasn't my cup of tea. I prefer something else from my Eurobeat.

Believe it or not, there are SCP tracks I don't care for. I just don't talk about them much. :P For the most part, I subscribe to "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."

But with a thread called "Songs that make your ears bleed", what can you expect, really?

Hmm, should've called it "Songs that LITERALLY make your ears bleed" instead.
