The many styles of Eurobeat. Open for dicussion.

This next section I post so others can better understand our different method of reviewing SEBs and get to know our different prefeances in style and why. I go first.
By knowing what I like and dislike in Eurobeat and not just label preferance and by realizing that my prefered labels do not stray away form thier traditional sound, these are my guidlines.
My favorite Style is the "Spacey Traditional. High Energy" sounding Eurobeat that TIME and DELTA and Vibration put out(sometimes SCP with Fastway and ACE) .Next would have to be the "Romantic" style of TIMES Elena songs and 90's. and fi.nally the "Chaotic" sound of HRG Attack(because they use Classic Italo hooks in there melodys). The "Happy" Eurobeat is the one that I'm very picky at and have a problem accepting. It shouldn't be Childish or too repitious. For my specific taste I usually turn to Saifam and also to HRG Attack.Maid Attack and She's My Baby Chevrolett are great examples of my tastes, but at TIMES, TIME can also put out a happy tune like, Lovely Day or Colours of My Love, which I love. Back to Saifam, They can at TIMES release a "Repetitious song, but those are not necessarly my favs. I much more prefer thier "Macho-Anthem" sounding style with the "Hey hey"'s and "Go Go's" much like the songs "Disco Energy", "Kong" and Hey Guy", but still they retain a rather "happy" atmosphere. There is one exception in my rule..and that is on the song "Chilly Boy" It totally contradicts my rules, on repetitious and childish, but for some reason or another, love that song(must be the HOOK?) Then there is the latest "Disco Flava" of TIME and DELTA. This one I adapted to very nicely, because of the relaxed bpms of 80's, but there is not enough songs for me to concider it a premier style yet.
I guess the hardest thing to accept for me right now are the "Transy" effects that SCP and even now ABEATC have addapted to thier music. the synths just don't agree with me. I know in the past TIME and even HRG have expirimanted with Techno in thier music, but only in the intros and sometimes breaks, but not the Main melody. To better understand my meaning play Neo's "Go Go Money"(solid 10) and Powerful T's "Into The Daylight" back to back. Both songs are from ABeatC, but miles apart in style and use of instruments. I can put NEo's song on repeat for hours, but can barely listen to Powerful T's song all the way through. Especially the main chorus. and then I won't even mention SCP. Just listen to Ace "Rider In The Sky"(MEGA) then "One Touch"(my least favorite) and you get my meaning.

Maybe this helps you guys understand better our method of grading on reviews or maybe I just wasted a good 40 mins of my life, but iether way , it sounded like an interesting topic and I wanted to get it off my chest. Peace out

And, as you can guess, I'm pretty much the opposite. For me, it's a combination of things, but it's not entirely the "genre" of eurobeat that does it for me.

I really like thick textures in songs. This is why I tend to like the trancey stuff. Also why I'm a Norma fan, but don't much care for Sophie. Also, this is why I don't really like old-school eurobeat or Italo. It just seems too thin for me. Listen to some disco, or some ABBA, now that's what I'm talking about.

Also, coming into eurobeat from Aqua, happy hardcore, the whole DDR thing, I tend to prefer faster, cheery girly stuff. It's just something you really want to sing along with, and the whole parapara scene.

Plus, label bias does come into it no matter what. I'm going to like an average A-Beat C or SCP song more than a really good Time song. They just have different production styles that I prefer. Even before I knew about the labels, I found I really preferred those songs as opposed to other labels. It might help that Time generally got the short end of the stick in the para scene.

I don't have a specific style of Eurobeat that I enjoy the most... it just depends on the song itself.

Like, I love Speed Demon (King of Kings) and it's totally not my type of song if you'd think of what I tend to give high praise to.

I also like fast, happy, often refered to as "childish" songs - but mostly the stuff by Domino and Lolita. There are some fast, happy "childish" songs I totally can't stand though.

I like the powerfulish songs like Emotions (CALL ME JUST CALL ME NOOOOWWWW XD) but usually just the powerful songs by female artists. Although, if you can call Mega NRG Man's stuff powerful songs, then I like his stuff too - but just because the songs he make are enjoyable to me.

I also like the slower, love ballad songs, but again just by specific artists like Norma Sheffield.

So, it all really depends on the singer, which label it comes from, and if it is in fact a good song to me or not. I enjoy all the different styles.

I'm in it for that HOOK. If that synth line isn't grabbing me by the collar, blasting me through the wall and screaming in my ear, "YOU'RE GONN'A FREAKIN' LOVE ME FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE!!!!", it's too weak for me to bother. HI-NRG Attack delivers this the best for me, although sometimes they overdo it and write a flying synth line, which can't be remembered all too easily. It's gott'a be simple enough to be remembered, and ONLY by so much. Then it's gott'a be technical enough to be more than just an up and down and up and down... neep. It's also got to get the emotion it's trying to get across, across.

For instance, take Maria Valentino's "Be My Lover". The synth line is interesting, consistent, almost constant... and it follows suit with the emotion at hand. It works for me. Also, consider "Cocoa Bill". While this one's not the easiest to remember, the "jist" of it is memorable, fun, and ENERGETIC. Third and final case in point, "Ganguro". I swear to anything listening, that song is one of the best-engineered songs EVER. The hook is catchy by ANY standards, and it delivers energy, power, the emotion it intends (which is a sort of spasmic joy), and... GAW. It's just powerful.

While I do enjoy the work of some other labels, some of their songs and synth hooks are just the occasional stab of a saw wave. Then again, sometimes HRG does this too. It just depends on the individual song. Some artists tend to one sort of hook, others to their own sorts as well, and some seem to switch between high and low energies. HRG just tends to, more often, have the kinds of hooks I like.

As such, my taste in Eurobeat covers all "genres" and "purposes" spans all over. Racing-centric, Parapara-centric, romantic, whatever.
