SEBs Longevity
Okay...I have two questions here:
1. Is Super Eurobeat the longest compilation series ever?
2. Why, in your opinion, has the series been able to keep on trucking over the past 17 years?

Re: SEBs Longevity
Do you mean the longest compilation in _any_ music genre?para_rigby wrote:Okay...I have two questions here:

Re: SEBs Longevity
I remember they said they had applied to Guinnes book of world recordspara_rigby wrote: 1. Is Super Eurobeat the longest compilation series ever?
for it. Dunno how it went though.
Thanks to Avex and Japanese persistent fans.2. Why, in your opinion, has the series been able to keep on trucking over the past 17 years?

Re: SEBs Longevity
Judging by the SEB artist/producer comments in the SEB 170 booklet, I think it did XDoresama-chan wrote:I remember they said they had applied to Guinnes book of world recordspara_rigby wrote: 1. Is Super Eurobeat the longest compilation series ever?

TIME TIME TIME=LONGEVITY
They were all over the first SEB
Album Title - Super Eurobeat 001 Extended Version
Release Date - 10.11.1994
Catalogue Number - AVCD-10001
1.Vanessa - Just A Game
2.Sophie - Soft Time
3.Gipsy & Queen - Love & Passion
4.Rose - Perfect Time
5.Anika - Crazy Lover
6.Sophie - Rapture
7.Aleph - Hero
8.Sophie - Face To Face
9.Fred Ventura - It's My Time
10.Virgin - Super Catching Desire
11.Lisa Johnson - Love
12.Frank Torpedo - Love For Money
13.Mike Hammer - Divine
They have appeared on all SEB volumes , except 9-14, where ABeatC hogged up all the space. Still makes TIME the most consistent on SEB. Also makes them the KINGS of EUROBEAT
Also the addition of HRG ATTACK on SEB 141 got my interest exited again
Vibration was also a nice addition, but pity they didn't last

As much as I like Time, I have to disagree here. A beat C has been the most consisent label on SEB (unless you're talking about song quality, then I'm on your side
). Time wasn't on the first Super Eurobeat (as you may remember, Vol.9 was the first). Ofcourse they were already present on That's Eurobeat, Eurobeat Fantasy, Best Disco long before SEB even existed.
However, with Time being around since 1985, they truly are the most consistent Eurobeat label

Those mono Beatfreak Super Eurobeat Series (from Italy, not AVEX)... that was an odd one. Cheap casing, no inlay. Mixing by Joe T. Vanelli (I always thought he was more into the house scene). Went till vol.8. That's also why AVEX started their own SEB at vol.9.
Beatfreak had Time, Radiorama, Asia, High Energy, Flea labels on their SEB CDs (these were actually the That's Eurobeat labels from ALFA).
AVEX started SEB with ABeatC, Stil Novo, Made Up Records and some Japanese eurobeat publisher.
Those styles were rather different. Personally, I wouldn't consider the Beat Freak albums part of 'the' (AVEX) SEB series.

I myself only collected 12's untill TIME stopped pressing all thier songs. That's when I got into the cd thing. So I don't know too much about SEB history. Just what appears on other databases. So then SEB vol 001 is not #1.?
I don't quite understand? even on this site, on Database section it mentions TIME being on SEB 001.Time wasn't on the first Super Eurobeat (as you may remember, Vol.9 was the first). Ofcourse they were already present on That's Eurobeat, Eurobeat Fantasy, Best Disco long before SEB even existed.

Those SEBs were re-released under Avex. Notice how the album 9 is released earlier than 1-8 are. The very original 8 SEBs (under Beatfreak) are somewhat considered to be the real 8 first albums.drnrg wrote:jeurobeat wrote:I don't quite understand? even on this site, on Database section it mentions TIME being on SEB 001.Time wasn't on the first Super Eurobeat (as you may remember, Vol.9 was the first). I think you might be thinking of his A State Of Trance series which is a radio show and not a CD compilation series. If going by wiki, the only compilations he's released are:valiant wrote:I think there was a trance serie by Armin Van Buuren that is still continuing which has 240 compiliations so far (all mixed mind you). That is the only one I can recall.![]()
Compilations
1999 "Boundaries of Imagination"
2000 "001 A State of Trance"
2001 "002 Basic Instinct"
2001 "003 In Motion"
2002 "004 Transparance"
2003 "Universal Religion Chapter One"
2004 "A State of Trance 2004"
2004 "Big Room Trance"
2004 "Universal Religion 2004, Live From Armada At Ibiza"
2005 "A State of Trance 2005"
2005 "A State of Trance 2005 Year Mix"
2006 "A State of Trance 2006"
2006 "A State of Trance 2006 Year Mix" (Released December 15, 2006 in the Netherlands)
Heh, it's kinda strange, in just over 2 years time (August 2009, if avex sticks to their schedule), SEB 200 will be released. That was really quick

I guess if you consider the fact each release has 2 CDs, there have been quite a few songs released under the NOW series in the UK. However, we're still only at NOW 66 (released last week) so SEB still beats it...para_rigby wrote:I can't think of any other series with as many volumes as SEB besides the "Now That's What I Call Music" (the UK version)...i know that have alot of volumes with 2 cds for each one.
