Despite the anonymity of Eurobeat singers, at least one--Alessandra Mirka Gatti, aka Domino--has managed to become famous enough to have a fansite.

It's funny to see how 'noobs', as I guess I can call them, are trying to put eurobeat in a category/to define it. :')

Well... that was an entertaining thing to read, the way people generalize things they don't really know that well seems to be a trend with everything you can think of.

Then again eurobeat can be rather easily categorized in the end due to it's rather limited style. Oh well, not the first nor last time there'll be people making assumptions or accusations regarding the genre ;P we still love it.

At least it looks like they did some homework on the subject. A few articles on Eurobeat that I've read in the past always have had some gross generalization about the music being "DDR music," or the artists being Japanese, etc.

Despite comments, I think it's a fairly even-handed and neutral article. It doesn't bash or judge, it cites resources and at least tries to understand... aside from that weird 'WTF' intro.

In most dance-music styles, 135 beats per minute would be considered rather fast; in Eurobeat, 155 BPM is considered slow.

135 IS slow. 155 BPM in Eurobeat is the average and mostly the top you'll see is 163-165 BPM *cough*hinrgattackandsafaim*cough*. The slowest Eurobeat song I have seen, THOSE DAYS, is 135 BPM (or was it 138...) indeed and I congrate Hinoi Team for doing it (Aishiteru, 1st album). The fastest is around 163 or 165. And, I correct this guy, 155 is not slow for Eurobeat, it's average.

I think they should do more music in that range. Too often the songs are sped up for reasons I don't understand. I understand a lot of people on this site enjoy the speed of the songs so I'm probably a minority, but I've always loved the slower style. You hear so many subtle nuances in the song (especially the percussion instruments used) and even more fun is being able to just dance to it and I don't mean parapara dance. I remember getting this one dj at this club to play One Touch when I used a program to slow it down to 135 without affecting the pitch or distorting it and it was awesome.

I can easily dance to the likes of One Touch at its regular speed - it's not the fastest Eurobeat track as it is.

True but it's way faster than most music played at clubs hence why I had to slow it down a touch.

I would have to imagine that my fondness for a higher BPM would stem from the fact that I got into Eurobeat during the Euromach era which was a high energy series. Another main reason would be because I find paraing to a faster BPM to be more comfortable than to a slower one. Apart from Eurobeat I mainly listen to Hardcore which is usually played 160bpm at it's slowest, averages at about 170bpm, and rocks out at 180bpm ;D.

While I do agree some things sound better slower, I'm a speed demon at heart
