So I was wondering if there is a certain year, song or artist that made the division from italo disco to eurobeat? Obviously eurobeat came from italo, but when could someone say eurobeat came into its own genre?
I've heard from a couple of people on forums says that "Tora Tora Tora" helped Eurobeat break away from the italo disco genre.
Any idea?
A Dividing Line?

Well, it's sort of a series of evolutions, really. I'd say "eurobeat" first appeared around 1993, with songs such as Domino Dancing, but it would take some time for it to fully develop into the modern style that exists today. Tora Tora Tora was definitely one of the breakthrough eurobeat tracks, but it wasn't until around the late 90's that the genre completed its evolution.

Hmm..That's a real stumper. There will probly be many different choices, but here is my take.
mid 70's (New York Disco)= BeeGees, Donna Summer, Village People<
1979 (Boys Town Disco) (Studio 54 era)= Sylvester, Boystown Gang,Lime, Arpeggio<
early 80's Disco New Wave= Trans-X, New Order, Blancmage, Bobby O<
1984-85(around Birth of Italo)= David Lyme, Baby's Gang,Koto, Duke Lake, J.D. Jaber,Radioramma
86-87(Hi Energy Disco and SAW sound) Dead Or Alive, Banana Ramma,Tapps, People Like Us,Mike Mareen, Stacy Q,Gypsy & Queen,Atrium
88-89(Italo Hi NRG) Premier labels= TIME,Saifam,FLEA, High Energy,Stil Novo. songs like "Bang Bang" "Boom Boom Dollars" Gun Fire" Big Match
early 90's (Heavy Italo NRG)= TIME, Saifam, birth of AbeatC(heavy bass and synths (the Gino Caria & Clara Moroni era)
mid 90's (progressive Eurobeat is born) DELTA and HRG Attack plus TIME's Luka Pernicci era) premier songs like Livin Japan(TIME), Tokyo Tokyo(ABeatC),Dancing(Dancing),Boom Boom Para,Para(TIME),(all Dave Rodgers song) all follow the same melody hook.
Seeing my own TIME line, I would say that Eurobeat broke away from the traditional High NRG Italo beat with the Luka Pernicci era "Music Fever" - Mr. M.and "Tokyo Tokyo" D-Essex in particular followed a melody that could no longer be concidered Italo nor Hi NRG.
a particular note of interest in TIME'S catalougue number Mike Hammer's -"Heartbreaker" was the actual turning point in TIME's sound, but it would still be concidered HI NRG melody, because of DOA influence.
