Experimentation is good, however Because I Need U is a song that steps so far out of the general formula that it doesn't sound like eurobeat at all and seems as if it should be on SBT instead. Time's disco elements from songs such as Into The Groove, Take A Frame, and Night Fighter work well because while they're different, they still fuse eurobeat elements with the new sounds, thus feeling a lot more in-place on a Super Eurobeat album. Delta has done an excellent job of varying their music so far; however I think they should stick more to fast eurobeat like Burning Up The Night (Total Fire) and eurodancy Saifam-like music such as Eurobeat Kind Of Love and Fly. Because I Need U is on a completely different turf even compared to the label's other experimental songs.

How does it step "so far out" of the general formula? It still essentially goes Intro -> Verse -> Chorus -> Intro, only it spices up each turn of an intro, verse or chorus with changes to the underlying beat or sound, unlike most EB songs which reuse pretty much the same intro/verse/chorus throughout, with a middle 8 section. The only other significance is that there are longer breakdowns between certain bits - not unheard of in EB either.
To me it sounds like something off a megamix disc with all those unusual verse breakdowns - where the DJ remixes the song slightly by dropping out the drumline or the synths or puts an effect on the vocals to change the sound of the song from its usual radio/extended edit. I love it there and I love it here!

It's not about that. It's about the fact that it doesn't resemble Eurobeat with no catchy Italo hook nor soundworlds. Most songs have intro -verse-bridge- chorus- verse.., but that doesn't mean they are in synch with Eurobeat. Anyway, I agree with #infinty. Bad bad choice for AVEX to insert on SEB. I never want my Eurobeat to evolve into thatHow does it step "so far out" of the general formula? I agree with you. However, you forgot to mention SCP. Pamsy and Irene (to some extent in later productions) use trance-like synthesizers yet still maintain the basic eurobeat structure. However, "Because I Need U" has no eurobeat elements, and does not belong on SEB.#Infinity wrote:Experimentation is good, however Because I Need U is a song that steps so far out of the general formula that it doesn't sound like eurobeat at all and seems as if it should be on SBT instead. One experimental direction Delta could move in (that has not been done yet) is having a drum and bass/jungle-flavored eurobeat song. When the 2 Fast song came out, I realized that 170-180 is a very common tempo for Drum and Bass songs. In addition, some drum and bass does have vocals, and there is even one genre with influences from synthpop (called trancestep or electrostep). Delta could easily insert a 2-step pattern occasionally into a fast song (1 & 2 & 3 & 4 &), with the "&"'s being the offbeats instead of being straight 4-4 time. Tada. Eurobeat song with jungle/drum and bass influences.

The Wikipedia link is right here. Basically, it was a genre of electronic music that developed when DJ's started doubling the speed of reggae tunes and adding a drum machine. From there, it branched out into a whole lot of subgenres (most of which end in the word "step" (see techstep, jazzstep, darkstep, etc.)).drnrg wrote:Jungle flavour? Is that like Regeaton or something they hear in Africa?

It occurs to me that there was already another Delta song that rather broke the traditional EB formula not more than 3 years ago:
Stephy Martini - Emotions
This song doesn't go Intro -> Verse -> Chorus, but in fact goes rather more long-winded: Intro -> Verse -> Chorus -> Verse -> Chorus -> Guitar Instrumental -> Intro -> Build-Up -> Breakdown Chorus -> etc.
The "sound" of the song is more typically EB, but the more pop-like structure certainly isn't!

If it's going to be a eurobeat ballad, then it should follow a structure that makes more sense. It does at least have a sabi to support its eurobeat personality, so I think it perfectly fit Super Eurobeat.
The structure shouldn't differ too greatly from the general formula, but so long as the song still feels eurobeat, it should work fine. Emotions meets both of these standards pretty fairly.

"Emotions" was clearly inspired by The Italo NRG of the 90's. Think about Kristina- Lonely Hearts or Moltocarina and Superlove songs. It fit perfectly onto SEB and was followed by hits like "Without You" and "Love & Rage". A style that DELTA has mastered beautifully. I'm still waiting for more of those songs with the slower BPM's.
