For some odd reason, I thought this was released today (5th.) *retarded* I'm looking forward to the album after hearing the samples. With Go2... I thought the sample was good! Maybe not as epic sounding as previous songs but I'm going to wait till I get my grubbly little hands on the extendeds from mu-mo before I pass my final judgement.

It's funny how most of the TIME ,upon hearing the final edits on the cd, our opinions change about certain songs and labels. SomeTIMES just the clearer cd sound as opposed to the crappy audio samples can make a world of difference.

Oddly enough I received my 187 today, and cdjapan hasn't even sent me the notice about it being shipped and the site doesn't say the order has even been processed... Oh well not complaining :P

You lucky, lucky man! Does that mean it will be on mu-mo already? (at work and can't check - work computers block Japanese sites for some reason! :( )

Got mine just now as well - same thing as you Bore - no shipping notice! Still, a welcome surprise! :) Just listening to it now. Delta Queens' Hello Hello is as divine as I was hoping!

Mari-San is definitely Go Go's by the way!

Mari-San & Delta Queens are amazing.... Mari-San In particular rises above anything else during the 180s so far.

Odd - that was the one I was looking forward to the least from the samples.

Can't wait to hear these in full :grin:

I skipped listening to the previews completely and didn't read the comments regarding them either so most of the album was surprising to say the least. Gotta listen to the preview and see if it sounds anything like the track :p

Personally, I cannot hear Anastacia at all in the sample's vocals, and I've seen her live...

Anyway, I've just been looking at the cover again, and does anyone else think that the model looks a bit like Scarlet Johansson?

I want to reserve my 'full review' for another day, and when I can listen to all the tracks decently - but I'll definitely share my first opinions of the album.

Mari-san - Secret Destination is AMAZING. It's definitely the best song on this album by FAR. It's GoGos Music - I wasn't aware of this fact until it was released unfortunately. :!: I must say though it's a very pleasant surprise.

I also don't think I gave Can Can World enough credit. I still think it's out of place but so is Secret Destination, but the song is really catchy regardless. The sample didn't give it justace.

Hello Hello is pretty good too... it sounds like it was inspired by SCP's Kiki and Fancy tracks to me. Actually, it would probably be better if it was sung by them haha.

Actually... 187 is a big surprise. All the songs are really enjoyable. 187 is the first SEB album since 141 that I am able to listen to front to back without wanting to skip any tracks.

I have to change my opinion on Mari-San. I told it's better to forget, but it's not bad. It's good, it would be very good, just I don't like the chick's voice.

I got the cd same day as the pre-alert. :!:

Review of SEB187

1. Delta Queens / Hello Hello
3.5/5
Cute and catchy... it reminds me of Energy Love and Blue, as opposed to a Delta Queens type song like Damn Damn My Heart which would remind me of Tonight - if that made any sense. :P

2. Annalise / Little Desire
3.5/5
The slow melodic intro jumping into an ear full of synths is something I've gotten use to and prepared for with ABeatC tracks. This song is no exception to that; but it isn't as dramatic and startling as other new tracks from them. The song is quite mediocre at best but I love the chorus' lyric structure.

3. Megan / Move On Now Baby
3.5/5
I don't really know how to describe the song to be honest... To me it has the sound of today's Eurobeat with the flavor of tracks you'd hear from 2001-2003. It's quite good.

4. Rick Castle - Baby Don't Leave Me
2.5/5
I have a feeling this song will grow on me, but at this moment in time this track is the weakest track on the album for me. Whenever I listen to this song my mind goes straight to wanting to listen to Midnight Lady. I'm not saying it's a bad song... it's just kind of boring.

5. Makkeroni - Can Can World
4/5
After hearing the preview I was like "Euro-Trash in my SEB?" ...it's more likely than you think. :P Though, after hearing it in all it's glory I take back everything I said / thought about it. It's still an embarrassing song and I would never listen to this out loud in public... it's really catchy though and it would be one of my guilty pleasures... like getting drunk alone. :P

6. Mari-San - Secret Destination
5/5
This song is just amazing. One of the top 3 best tracks this SEB-Decade for sure. I don't take back my comment from the preview of it sounding hyper-techno inspired with a generic gay dance singer; because it honestly does :P That fact doesn't make it bad though. Actually, the vocals in this song is bloody amazing. The production is god-like. GoGos keeps outdoing themselves.

7. De Leo - I Need Your Love 2008
4.5/5
I'm a big fan of I Need Your Love so I was anticipating this track. I'm not disappointed. I do prefer the original but unlike a lot of the remakes this song could pass as separate from the original. The vocals ooze manliness too which makes the song even nicer to listen too haha.

8. Matt Land - Magical
5/5
STOP THE PRESS! ALERT THE MEDIA! A 5/5 ABEATC SONG FROM ME! *GASP* haha. Even though this song has the ever-so-dreaded melodic intro into a pissing party of synths; they actually prepare us with a small pause-like thingy. Again, this song reminds me of new-sound Eurobeat with a 120-130s~ flavor. Which I like.

9. Coo Coo - Vamos A Bailar
5/5
Yaay Saifam is back :3 There's really not much to say about this song except that it sounds like classic Saifam, I like that, and therefore I like this song. heh

10. Pamsy - Love Is A Pretender
4/5
Another excellent track from Pamsy and SCP. Although... I know it's horrible to compare songs to other ones but to be honest, My Sweet Forever blows this out of the water. If My Sweet Forever didn't exist this track would have received a 5. I just can't get over the fact that Pamsy raised the bar with My Sweet Forever; and it's going to be tough to reach it. I must say, this is much better than Emotional Child though lol

11. Dany - Run Away
5/5
I love Dany's voice so much; and though this song has that typical Time sound that a lot of people seem to dislike (including me at times), I can't help but fall in love with this song. It's beautiful.

12. Go2 - Spitfire
4/5
It's really difficult to review Go2 tracks because they all seem really similar every release. It's not a bad song, I think I'm just getting worn out of this style. We need another Music Come On!!!! :P

13. Dave Rodgers - Sun City 2008
3/5
I'm not too impressed with this remake. I greatly prefer the original. Is it just me or did they try to compensate for Jennifer Batten in the chorus with really messy synths? It's not bad, and definitely doesn't suffer from the self proclaimed "Like A Virgin Syndrome" (hated that remake...) but still, I think there are better Dave songs that could be made into remake gold.

~~~
Top 3:
Secret Destination
Magical
Run Away
Bottom 2:
Baby Don't Leave Me
Sun City 2008
(Can't figure out a third one :P)
Honorable Mention(s):
Vamos A Bailar
De Leo - I Need Your Love 2008
Conclusion:
This is a solid album. As I've said before, the first SEB that I've been able to listen to front to back without skipping tracks since 141. Maybe it's the fact that there's only 13 tracks this time around - less chance to screw up? heh. Still, there are some amazing songs on this album with only 2 songs that I could easily pass on; which says a lot for what I've thought of previous releases.
